Kona Lighthouse is Amazing!
We had the best time staying at the Kona Lighthouse! Enjoyed sitting on the deck every morning, drinking coffee and listening to the birds and in the evenings looking at all the stars. Tons of amenities are provided for a awesome family stay. We snorkeled everyday, went on excursions with sunlight on the water, amazing! Manta rays at night spectacular. Wendy and Harry are awesome hosts. We fixed a really awesome Thanksgiving dinner at the house and sat on the patio, we fixed all our breakfasts at the house. We definitely recommend staying at the Kona Lighthouse! My fiancé s sons really enjoyed hanging in there own space in the separate studio. Fun was had by all of us and we will be back! Thank you, thank you! Clean, comfortable, no bugs!
Perfect Getaway near the Beach
We had a great time at this clean, comfortable, well equipped beach house! Loved the view from the kitchen and balcony, and the short secret path to White Sands. Super convenient restaurant and coffee place right on the beach. Definitely a great value for such a large home and ideal location!
Bug infested/dirty not what worth the money
The only reason we booked this place was because of the reviews and the pictures. So we payed a lot of money to stay 14 nights, and really after what we experienced should have at least been refunded half, not just the cleaning deposit.
We arrived at 10:00 at night so the extent of how dirty this place was when we arrived we didn’t know till morning. After the second day I reached out to the property owner Wendy. I let her know that communication is important and that this is not what we had signed up for.She apologized and said she has no idea it was left that way. She said her last guests were roudy and left the place a mess and the place was just sprayed for bugs before we got there.
She had the cleaner bring new sheets, and refunded us our cleaning deposit. Mind you we spent 3 hours cleaning just to feel comfortable enough to eat there.
We tried to make the best of it. But the bug situation was so bad. My husband used to live in Hawaii, so we knew not to leave any food or crumbs out. We couldn’t figure out why we kept getting bit, especially at night. My first thought was bed bugs, nope it was ants, and carpenter ants inside eating away the house literally. Having cockroaches climb over you at night is not so fun either. There should Not be mice, ant or bug traps in ever corner of a home.
there was no other place we could go to either as everything was booked up. I kept in contact with Wendy the whole time, every time something else came up I took a picture and sent it to her. This place has not been cleaned in a long time, and if I could figure out how to post the pictures I would.
The last 2 nights we were there a rat ate through the screen and left a big hole.
Cons- not the same furniture that is in the pictures- cushions all stained. And rug
Dirty- when you have bugs crusted to the wall in the kitchen, that’s bad.The oven only had one working burner
When you open the drawers- no joke there were dead bugs in it and dirty
The stairs outside are very questionable and rotten. No AC in main living area, so even with 5 fans going at 85 degree weather it was too hot. There are AC units in the bedroom, but are on a timer of 2 hr increments. The topper is that my mother in law was laying in bed, and a cock roach landed on her eye. Long story short either it be the cockroach, ant or bug bite she now is fighting cellulitis in her eye, no joke major serious infection. So now you can read a true real review.
In all of my 15 years that I've rented vacation rentals in Hawaii
I've never seen anyone try so hard to get their vacation for free
by complaining. This must be what they do, I have no words....
A great place to stay
Nice house, perfect for a team with a nice big living room and outdorspace for a BBQ, nice view over the ocean for sundowner, next to be best beach in Kona = white sands.
Nice that you can use Bodyboards and snorchel stuff from the houese
Enjoyed having these appreciative friendly guests!
The house was perfect for our family. Very kid and adult friendly. We loved the short walk to Magic Sands beach. AMAZING service and quick responses from the owners.
Great place to stay!
This was a perfect home with great amenities. Plenty of room, great location with a short walk to magic sands beach. It was nice to always have an ocean view from the deck/kitchen. Ready to go back!
