Abruzzo House - Great Central Italy Location As Travel Base
- english, italian, german, Russian available via email or text...
About Nick Rossi
My grandparents were born here and I have many cousins remaining. Gorianese rarely speak English, so for the true explorer, it is an adventure, but my friend Sandra, who watches over the house, speaks native english and can help with any issues or travel planning.
Nick Rossi purchased this House in 2013
Why Nick Rossi chose Goriano Sicoli
great location, inexpensive for short and long term rentals. Centro Storico is secluded and away from the center of the town and roads. Absolutely peaceful mornings looking out onto the Serento-Valino valley. My house get early sun on the side terrace for the perfect soffe and cornetto breakfast, and shade after lunch for a cool drink and a nap...
What makes this House unique
Regular train service is very rare for small towns. Two hours to Rome, One house to the beach (Pescara). Two Ryani Air hubs, one in Pescara and one in Rome make hopping around Europe and north Africa a dream escape...

Lovely stay in Goriano Sicoli
Staying in Goriano Sicoli was great. The apartment was very smart and it was more like house setting than a rental. Everything was there and Nick the owner even had food on hand for our first night, so no hassle at the market for food. The place has a great view (every time we skyped friends or family we always took the computer out to the balcony so every could see our view). We met the neighbors and had a wonderful time having them up. The people of Goriano are very helpful if you initiate contact. There are great little stores and a fabulous bakery. We eat once at one of the local eateries (Maverick, interesting name for an Italian eatery) and the food and wine were first class. Abruzzi has wonderful produce and farm goods and it was a pleasure to go to the market. We would recommend a car as there are many small farms and towns in the area that are interesting as well. After a month stay in Rome we needed a break form the site-seeing and the school we attended. We highly recommend a stay at Nick’s place for something special another side of Italy that is well worth seeing.
Note: the Goriano Restaurant "Maverick" is under new management and now called "La Pasquina". It remains across from the Soccer Stadium. I recommend anything with tartuffo (truffles), if you like them. They are sniffed out by Goriano dogs -- always local and always fresh.
Casa vacanza in libertà
AN ENGLISH TRANSLATION OF Francesco's Review:
The apartment is presented as a travel base, I will talk about it from my point of view as a holiday home to rest from the vicissitudes of one year (for work, for health checks or other). From this point of view the house is great, it is in a mountain resort where there is no heat (i.e cool weather) and unbearable humidity of some cities, people are friendly and, if desired, one will soon friendships, in the home There is all you need and the bath is complete. Maybe it's a little short on space needed for lounging, missing a very private outdoor place with a beach chair under a canopy (or umbrella or gazebo) in the shade. This is a small issue, as they say, a nit, the fact that there is (a balcony and a small outdoor plaza) is enough to sit down and read a good book or newspaper, or simply close your eyes and enjoy the tranquility that surrounds you.
***** Thank you for the review Francesco. I am happy your time in Goriano went well. Nick Rossi
remote location at 700 Meters, but with local train station and 10 minutes to nearest larger town, Raiano. I lived here for 3 years without a car, but some visitors will prefer a car for quicker trips to the markets, etc
