Martha's Vineyard House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Max’s Couloir is a 1940’s style shingle beach cottage sited on a secluded 1½ acre lot. This quiet neighborhood is just off the bike path on the way to beautiful Long Point Beach. An open living/dining/kitchen area with wood floors and exposed ceiling is surrounded by windows and a sliding French door to the South facing deck.

The large second floor master suite has its own bathroom and deck, ideal for catching the beautiful sunrise or lounging after a day at the beach. The house has plenty of windows to catch the light and gentle winds. The house is well appointed with cozy period furnishings and all the comforts you expect in a newer home. Now eight years along, the landscaping has taken hold and the property is absolutely beautiful!

About Jon Kelly

I've been coming to the Vineyard since 1987.

Jon Kelly purchased this house in 2000

Why Jon Kelly chose Martha's Vineyard

This is a wonderful house, more my home than a vacation rental. Most of my guests are families that have been coming for years. It's the kind of place where you can kick back, put your feet on the coffee table and relax.

Great house centrally located on Martha's Vineyard

  • 5 of 5

We loved the house, especially the airy upstairs master with its own bathroom and sundeck. And we loved the outdoor shower. The house is centrally located on the vineyard, but in a quiet setting. It has all the amenities you could want, including dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. It was immaculate when we checked in. Great experience! This was our first time on Martha's Vineyard and Oak Bluffs, Vineyard Haven and Edgartown can be a little overwhelming with traffic and crowds, but it was great to return home to peace and quiet.

We went to Long Point Beach and also Lambert's Cove beach (you need to get a sticker). Also went to Beach Plum restaurant which is in a beautiful setting in Menemsha. Next time we will bring bikes and use bike paths, because we had to drive everywhere and there was a ton of traffic. I would definitely rent again, the house is lovely.

Amazing vacation spot!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I and our two sons (age 11 & 13) had a great week at this wonderful home. It was clean, bright, and airy. We all loved the whimsical décor and comfortable beds and furniture. The location is great for kids. We rode our bikes through the nice and safe neighborhood and to Long Point Beach (less than 15min). The MV bike path is close by too. We loved that we could get to any town within 20 minutes. We have rented for more than 10 years, and this has been our best experience with the owner. Jon is on top of things!

Perfect for our family!

  • 5 of 5

As so many others have said, this home is open and light-filled, has a great sense of style about it without it being overwhelming and is very clean! We picked it after looking online for days, it seemed, and we couldn't have been more pleased. We are a family of four, with two boys 17 and 13 who were quite comfortable!

My husband and I worked on the island during the summer some 25+ years ago and never knew this fantastic part of the island existed. We knew we did not want to be in Edgartown because of the traffic, but wanted to be near Edgartown because there's nothing like Edgartown. It was such a pleasure for us to get up way before our teenagers and explore the great ponds around this area on kayaks. We looked into a family membership with The Trustees of Reservations before our trip since Long Point was so accessible from the house and I think we spent some time there every day. We loved that you could be in freshwater and rinse off the salt water in a matter of steps. We also made daily trips to Morning Glory Farm and I think it's the prettiest vegetable market one would ever find! They had amazing breads, pates, coffee, etc. and if you haven't been there before, it is certainly worth a stop. Our teenagers know Flatbreads from where we live, so they were also excited to make a few after dinner pizza runs that was only a few minutes from the house.

Still, Max's was the highlight for us to have quality family time. Jon's outdoor shower was fantastic and he has a brand new washer and dryer that were so quiet, you wouldn't even know they were on....not that you could hear them anyway because they were tucked downstairs in an extremely clean basement. The upstairs master suite was my favorite part of the house....we loved it! Beds were all very comfortable and the neighborhood is quiet. The only "traffic" we heard the whole week was the Monday morning after the 4th of July when private jet after private jet headed south. I wouldn't hesitate to go back at all! Jon was always accessible from my very first inquiry to receiving our deposit back within days of leaving. I can see why he has so many fans! I am now one of them....thank you Jon! It was the kind of week I was hoping our family would have!

I want to live here

  • 5 of 5

Lovely home in a great location. Stayed here many years ago and it was a pleasure to return. Quiet neighborhood great for walking or riding bikes to nearby bikepath. The home is warm and inviting, well maintained and spotless. Plenty of outdoor space with large deck and outdoor shower as well as a second floor deck off the master. As others have said, the location is ideal as all the sights are an easy drive from here. Lambert's Cove Beach is just one of many beautiful beaches on the island with a gentle surf most days. It does require a beach pass which can be purchased at the West Tisbury School on Old County Rd in the barn adjacent to the tennis courts. The owner was a pleasure to work with and timely in responding to questions.

Quiet getaway

  • 5 of 5

The house was perfect and charming plenty of room nice and open with great decor. Very well kept and clean home. Plenty of things to do nearby from this central island location. Master was very nice! Secluded West Tisbury location keeps you away from all the heavy tourist traffic which is a plus.

The perfect retreat.

  • 5 of 5

This house is exactly what we expected and more. It's located on a quiet street along the south, central side of the island. We love it's central location making it a short drive to all the coastal towns and beaches. We would hop in the car every morning and head down the street to Espresso Love in Edgartown for morning coffee, stopping by Morning Glories Farm along the way to pick up some produce and pastries for later in the day. Our favorite spot for dinner is State Road…which is a short drive north across the island. Long Point Beach is adjacent to the neighborhood and is a nice quiet beach for couples or families (note: there is a small entrance fee during the season). The house itself is charming, clean, & comfortable with all the amenities of home: a large sitting room for relaxing or watching TV, a farm table for dining, a well equipped kitchen for meals at home and a large master bedroom suite on the 2nd level with it's own private balcony…perfect for enjoying your morning cup of coffee. The homeowner is terrific and was able to answer any questions we had prior to our visit. This was our second time staying at this home and we will continue to come back time & time again. We highly recommend it.
