Perfect for 1 or 2 couples! Ocean front with yard and beach access

Reef House Puako is a true old Hawaii getaway right on the blue Pacific Ocean. Snorkel with sea turtles from the sand and lava beach, explore tide pools, lounge in hammocks under the palms, watch for a green flash sunset, or just hang out at the two blue cottages with ocean and Maui views from almost every window. This will be a place you'll never want to leave.

In a grove of nine coconut palms, below spreading kamani and beach heliotrope, the original 1 bedroom/1 bathroom cottage accommodates a family of four (two adults, and 2 small children) who would sleep on small 'punees' in the living area). Both the suite and cottage have private outdoor showers but no indoor showers or bathtubs.

This delightful, redwood-paneled beach house has Hawaiian and Asian art, a well-equipped kitchen, garden shower, dining area with an antique curly koa table seating, and sweeping ocean and Maui views from almost every window. The entire downstairs of the separate second cottage is a master suite, with bathroom and garden shower, for a second couple in your family. The suite is NEVER rented to another party during your stay. A private owner's apartment is upstairs but is rarely occupied.

I think back on our wonderful stay at Puako often. It really was a perfect location for turtle and whale watching. The public access to the sand beach to the east was a perfect walk to take the kids to swim. Love our time at the reef house.

This was our 12 the visit n 4th property in Puako n 1st to the reef house.

We love Puako as it has feel of tranquility n remoteness but convenient to every need

The Reef house is well appointed and we lacked for nothing. Spacious and not a worn rental at all

Ocean front rental. Private with incredible views.

Easy, easy, easy....quiet, peaceful on water. Owner's home is on property (not on water) and separate structure away from oceanfront rental. Owner only there for a few days during two week stay but treated me like it was my home instead of hers. Outdoor shower was incredible. Wish my home in California was suited for immediate install. Accommodations provided are all you need. Large living/dining open room with room to spread out. Parking spacious and off street, coin laundry with coins supply provided, barbecue, picnic table, and hammock for outside nap. Best reef on the island is out your back door for snorkeling and tide pools. World class golf, choice of resorts for dining 10 minutes away but why leave? Lots of windows for view of ocean and open air. Sunsets can't be missed each evening. Will return as soon as I can.

Pefrect location, awesome folks, incrdible relaxing vacation

We booked this on a recommendation and it was perfect. The living space of the house is spacious and comfortable. Lots of light and windows and easy access to outside. Outside there are 2 hammocks, lounge chairs, regular chairs, a table. There is a nice lawn area that attracts a ton of birds and then the beach. It is nicer than the pics show. At high tide the snorkeling is incredible and at low tide the tide pools are great. Close to beach 69. Charcoal BBQ, and coin laundry for convenience. Mary was great at taking our calls when we had questions and resolving issues. The office is right down the street next to the general store. Easy access to many of the resorts as well as short drive to Hawi and Wiamea as well as Kona. Perfect location. But best of all, the sea turtles. We had them visit everyday. So if you want to relax, enjoy the surf, see turtles, fish and lots of birds, this is the spot for you.

Beautiful view and sounds of the ocean waves

My husband and I came to Hawaii to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary and we could not have been more pleased with our stay in the Puako area and the cottage. It was well equipped and clean with some nice personal touches. The management company we dealt with was courteous, personable, and friendly. We loved taking naps on the hammock and looked forward each night to the sounds of the waves and the views of the setting sun. The sea turtles came up on shore each day to sun themselves; this was a special treat.

This is THE BEST of THE BEST!!!

THE BEST part of our week's vacation on The Big Island were the morning cups of coffee as we lavished ourselves in the splendid view of the rolling waves (from our ocean-front lawn)...and being in the same place with a margareta in our hands and watching the sunset for thirty minutes. We enjoyed all the other top rated "hot-spots" on the island, according to Trip Adviser, but the best moments of each day were at the beach at our home on the water. We are a fastidious user of Trip Adviser and this home on the beach was THE BEST. Ed and Jan from Seattle

Love the Reef House!

This was our second stay at the Reef House. We absolutely love Puako and this house is one of our favorites. It has fabulous ocean views - turtles on the rocks all day, every day. It is a very comfortable home with plenty of amenities and a wonderful layout. Feels much bigger than many of the others in the neighborhood. Mary and Robbie are so very helpful with reservations and any needs while in town. The owners were in residence while we were there, but the property still felt very private and secluded. Our only suggestion to make the home perfect would be a gas grill to make cooking at the home easier.

If you will only need the cottage and have 2 adults and 2 kids under 12 the nightly rate is $355. The nightly rate for the cottage and additional suite is $440 for a maximum of 4 adults and 2 kids. Please call/email manager directly for an exact quote for your group. We are a local, professional, real estate company licensed in the State of Hawaii, managing the home on behalf of the owners. We will not ask you to wire money nor do we accept credit cards due to high fees.

We're small, local company so sorry, but due to high fees, we do not accept credit cards. 1/4th rent due by check within 14 days of booking. Balance due 60 days prior to arrival. Each payment, once received, is non-refundable in the event of cancellation unless we can rebook dates. Checks/money orders accept in US funds. We recommend that you purchase travel insurance. Cmas/NY due dates vary.
