About Elisabeth

I live in the same palace, on the third floor

Elisabeth purchased this apartment in 1998

What makes this apartment unique

Even if it lies in a very central area of Venice in the Castello “ Sestiere “ ( quartier ) is very quiet being out of the mass tourism beaten path but at the same time close to everything. In fact it takes only a few minutes walk to the nearest public boat piers ( San Zaccaria dock ) where all the major boat lines depart to all the most important destinations:

Airport, Train Station, Parking Areas, Murano, Burano, Torcello, Venice-Lido.

Next to the apartment you can find everything you need for a pleasant stay like local Restaurants, bar as well as supermarkets, butchers, bakeries and chemist.

In Venice, people almost always get around on foot, therefore it is a great convenience to be just at a few minutes walk from the Saint Marc’s Cathedral and the Doge’s Palace, the Riva degli Schiavoni waterfront, the Rialto Bridge or the Biennale gardens and the Arsenale. And even because public transportation in Venice is very expensive, 7,5 euro each ticket.

Nice Base for Experiencing Venice

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed here for several nights in late April and early May. The apartment is well appointed with a full stainless steel kitchen, nice size bathroom, comfortable furnishings, and large comfortable bed up the stairs in a loft. There is a washing machine in the bathroom but it does not also function as a dryer. The location is excellent for exploring the city - very central to the major sites, yet in a quiet and safe neighborhood (Castello). Saint Mark's Square is ten minutes away through interesting streets of shops and restaurants. A picturesque canal is below a small balcony. Elizabetta is charming and very responsive with helpful suggestions. We enjoyed our stay very much and would stay here again if we ever return to Venice.

Well appointed

  • 5 of 5

This apartment was an excellent value and choice - Elizabetta is very accessible and takes a lot of pride and care to make sure your stay is everything you wish it to be. The apartment is spacious and well appointed -- you can tell that someone has taken the time to think about what you might want or need to be at home. I would definitely book this apartment again. The loft bedroom and stairs up to it will not suit everyone, but, it was extremely comfortable and the location was very quiet -

Classy Well Appointed

  • 5 of 5

It was obvious a great deal of time was spent considering the design of this apartment, beautiful kitchen stainless appliances, good sized bathroom with large shower & sink, high end, washer & an extremely generous comfortable bed. The neighborhood is quiet, but close to all the sites. Having a view of one of the canals to see the sites from the door & window really presented a great view of the city - gondoliers singing & accompanied by musicians. Elizabetta was so gracious, supplied a great deal of information plus ammenities that travelers don't want to deal with ie extra toliet paper, paper towels, a good supply of towels, fruit upon arrival. There is access to the canal from the building, so if renters can afford a water taxi, it avoids dragging luggage to the crowded vapporettos & through the street. Elizabetta arranged for a water taxi to the train station, wonderful. Having a lift in the building is also a big plus in addition to the historical lobby of this renovated palace. Just wished there had been more time in Venice! Great stay.

Home away from home.

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying in this apartment! Every question I had before arrival was answered right away by email. Her photo directions to get to the apartment were perfect and fun to follow. The fruit and water were great as we didn't have to find the store the first day to have breakfast. I researched MANY properties before choosing this one. My only concern was the view across the canal looked like a church and I wasn't sure what kind of noise there would be. (church bells at 6 AM, singing , chanting.) Of course none of that happened. The only thing I heard from them was the daily opening of the wood shutters and closing them at night. I never heard any noise from the other apartments either.

I loved the view from the small balcony. I spent a lot of time standing there watching the kids go to school (1/2 block away) and boats delivering goods and people. Coffee in hand from her generous coffee maker. (coffee supplied)

I too had trouble with internet reception. My sister-in-law did pretty well but for me to get connected I had to go into the hall and up the stairs close to Elisabetta's apartment and the router. Once I was connected, then it would hold for long enough. I only found it slightly annoying and just part of the experience.

The bed was great. Not sure why the previous poster thought it was hard and hot. While we were there it was beautiful and 68-70 during the day and 50's at night. We closed the windows and were only warm one night. Easily fixed by opening a window and keeping the shutters closed to shut out the light.

We loved having our own key and feeling like a local coming and going. Silly but we loved how it made us feel vs a hotel.

The pictures are all accurate and I would certainly recommend this apartment to my friends when they go to Venice.

Lovely apartment.

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely little apartment in a great neighborhood. The entrance on the ground floor is stunning, complete with a door to canal, and the apartment itself is welcoming and cosy. The tall windows in the living room open onto a small canal, with just enough boat traffic. It's the perfect combination of modern convenience and historical charm.

Elisabetta takes care of every little detail, from loaning her shopping cart to offering rain boots and even charting a faster routs to the boat to airport. Her generous welcoming gift of pastry, fruit, and bottled water provided breakfast for a week. She also had her housecleaner come in every four days, which brought the convenience of a hotel into the privacy of a rental apartment.

This apartment offers a wonderful home base for exploring Venice, and it quickly felt like coming home, if home were only in Venice.

Great Location, Flaws Fixable

  • 4 of 5

This is one of a number of units renovated "into" a 13th Century building overlooking a small & charming canal. This is where you want to be, not on the Grand Canal but off of it! The studio flat has 20 foot ceilings, and the loft is built within part of this space and over a nice kitchen and bath that were added. It is just East of the plaza of the Church of Santa Maria Formosa, so the best is accessible but away from the tourist and shopping areas of Rialto & St Mark’s Square. With great windows and small French doors overlooking the canal, the loft is appointed with nice venetian chandeliers and a simple living area. Other than occasional footsteps above, it is superbly quiet…in the mornings you wake to the blub-blub of little boats below! Very nice and recommendable with only a couple flaws: the internet went out almost every day, and when coupled with the lack of any English stations on Venice's 1000-channel cable TV, and most travelers' lack of cell phones...you are out of communication. That would be OK on a different island, but in Venice you need reservations, reviews, and local information! But the curious thing is the bed situation. The master bed is up some loud, "modern" stairs whose metal parts ring as you go up or down. In the dark, they seem rickety and separate you from bathroom and living areas. The loft is high up and too hot for us, even in December with all heat turned off. We spent a week here and enjoyed it, but I had to use the lower fold-down bunk bed downstairs. Narrow and hard as it was, I could at least sleep without being too hot or waking my wife every time I got up. She struggled with the heat upstairs. All mattresses were really hard, more like box springs. The owner was very nice and helpful before leaving for Christmas holidays, and gave us great recommendations on restaurants before she left. With a higher quality master bed downstairs, reliable internet, and maybe a local phone, this place would be perfect!
