This place is amazing. Sky Hawk Ridge is a 185-acre refuge at the gateway to Buffalo River National Park in north central Arkansas. An awesome new vacation home is now available for guests. It's traditional farmhouse on the outside, bright and modern inside. It has a forest setting and a lovely view.
There are two vacation homes at Sky Hawk Ridge; another one coming in 2019. Houses are far apart so there's privacy for everyone.
Sky Hawk is just off US 65 on the north side of the Buffalo River. Restaurants, canoe rentals and river access points at Grinders Ferry, Gilbert and Tyler Bend are just minutes away, but at Sky Hawk you are secluded and surrounded by natural beauty -- away from it all.
The entrance to Sky Hawk Ridge is on Gilbert Road (Hwy. 333), about one half mile east of US 65. Two-tenths mile from the entry, across from an open meadow, a driveway leads down through the woods to a metal roofed, cedar sided cabin below. Benched on a hillside, the home has views of distant mountain peaks and a forest hollow below.
Past this house, Sky Hawk Drive continues on through the woods then breaks through a tree line to reveal a long open hilltop accented by grand old oaks, with magnificent views of the Buffalo River Valley. A low ranch house is just beyond the barn. The land is for all to enjoy, so feel free to discover what lies around the bend.
When you walk along Sky Hawk's long ridge, you see across the Buffalo River Valley to layered green hillsides and distant blue ridge lines. You see rolling meadows with sentinel oaks, cattle grazing in lush pastures, deep green woods ... nature's beauty at every turn.
Finished in October, the new vacation home offers plenty of room for large families or 3-4 couples. Stunning architecture and furnishings make the house memorable in its own right. Huge windows and tall ceilings let you see forest and sky all around. It's sunny and uplifting ... like the great outdoors. The house is a perfect gathering place for family and friends. There's a two-story living room, a full-size dining room, two private bedrooms, an open loft, and two large bathrooms.
You'll sleep well on sumptuous Leesa beds with crisp, cotton sheets. There's a king-size bed in the main floor bedroom and a queen-size bed in the upstairs bedroom. In the sunny, treetop loft, there's another queen-size bed and a sleeper-sofa with comfortable memory foam mattress.
The house is equipped with a full-size washer and dryer, a kitchen with all appliances (refrigerator with icemaker, range, microwave, dishwasher and disposal), cooking utensils and dishes, a gas grill, central heat and air conditioning, ceiling fans, and a modern gas fireplace in the living room for extra warmth on cold nights. Satellite TV and Wi-Fi are available for guests.
When you stay at Sky Hawk Ridge, you won't stay inside for long. Roam the land and discover the wonders of this beautiful place. Enjoy misty morning walks through dew-covered meadows. Watch gorgeous sunsets over Ozark Mountains. Explore miles of well-maintained private trails that wind through dense forests and beside crystal streams. Wildlife is everywhere -- deer, turkey, fox, owls, songbirds, and all sort of woodland creatures. Delight in a field of spring flowers, a blue summer sky, a hillside blanketed with fall colors, or a cold and foggy winter morning. Sky Hawk Ridge is a nature-lover's paradise all year long.
The land has 3/4 mile of park frontage, and the Buffalo River Trail is just steps from the property corner. To the left, the trail leads along the top of high bluffs to the town of Gilbert. To the right, it leads about a mile downhill to a long, wide gravel bar at Shine Eye Bluff -- the perfect spot to picnic, swim, fish or enjoy a lazy afternoon.
