Live in Saratoga Springs NY with my wife Becky and two children. Love to travel and love PR.
Rocco Lamanna purchased this condo in 2005
PR is the best island in the Caribbean, the people are fantastic. It is great to have a place with so much history and adventure. It is not like a resort island where once you leave the gated complex you are stepping into a 3rd world country. PR is great, where in the world can you go to a tropical island, spend the morning by the Caribbean waters, go hiking in a rain forest then go to cold stone ice cream for dessert. It is the best of both worlds, modern conveniences with old world charm.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The view was amazing and the person we rented from, Rocco, was great. Found him on vrbo, condo 3E. We were on the third floor and the sound of the ocean and view were mesmerizing. The points others have made about the currents are true, so you wouldn't want to take kids swimming off this beach, but two beautiful swimming beaches are within a 5 minute drive, so that didn't really matter. The tradeoff of view was worth it. I loved being at the end of the developed portion of the beach. You could walk the quiet beach for miles right outside your door. And, unlike other condos that are across the street from the beach, this is actually ON the beach. We checked out the other large condo building in town (Playa Azul condos) and honestly I thought we picked right, in terms of scenery and location, if you value an amazing view. Yeah, the neighborhood was kind of sketchy, but I never felt unsafe. The whole town was kind of like that and the other big condo buildings were in the same kind of neighborhood. And really, I think it's more just not the kind of neighborhoods you're used to seeing in the US, rather than truly unsafe. Luquillo was a great base camp for doing everything on the east coast and had lots of great restaurants as well, if you didn't want to cook in your condo. Parking was in an assigned spot, so that was never a problem and the staff we encountered were great. I would definitely stay here again, without hesitation.
All my family have a good time and we expect to return at the end of this year or early in next year, wonderful place to stay.
The property literally was only 10 minutes from everything I wanted to do. I really loved the fact that this area is much different from San Juan. The property felt like I was coming home every day. I'm glad I stayed there. The only bad side is the screen door really does need a lot of work. It's really hard to open and close. I actually broke a nail trying to open it. None the less the I'm glad I stayed here.
My husband, our 10 year old grandson and I had a wonderful 6 days / 7 nights at this condo. The condo was clean and comfortable. It had just about everything we needed. Maybe it could use a few new bath towels, but then again, we made do with the ones that were there. A roll of paper towels in the kitchen would have been a nice touch, too. The view was incredible! Who needs a dishwasher or washing machine on vacation anyway? The AC in both bedrooms works very well and is able to cool down the whole condo, if you wish to do so. We just used it at night. Something that nobody else has mentioned, and that I had been concerned about before our vacation, is the Zika scare and worrying about mosquitos. We saw 1 mosquito on the balcony during our stay! I am usually the mosquito magnet, so I was very pleased to find virtually no mosquitos during our vacation in Puerto Rico. Not in the Rainforest, San Juan or Arecibo, where we spent a few of our days. We did make sure to spray ourselves with mosquito repellant whenever we left the condo. Just to be safe. But please, don't let the whole Zika business keep you from visiting Puerto Rico! Last but not least: We so loved this condo and the location that we will definitely return in the future!
Loved the location (felt like we were on Gilligans Island with the seclusion on the palm tree lined beach with no one in sight). Rocco was quick to respond when a couple appliances needed replacement, and was very accommodating. We will return again!
We had a great time in the condo!
We loved the view, and the security guards at the front were very helpful.
The beach out front is ok, but if you head across the creek to the east, the beach is one of the most amazing that I have seen.
The surrounding neighborhood is very impoverished, but a great taste of the local culture.
I would like to say that Rocco was very kind, helpful, and accommodating. My husband and I fell in love with the condo and the location is like a dream come true! There have been people who have reviewed this property that I believe we're unrealistic! I mean.. If your looking for the Ritz Carlton.. Then it's located in San Juan.. I must say that on our 6 night stay the condo was perfect! The balcony was private with a perfect view of the waves, and Palm trees, as well as the beach below. To the left there were no other balconies and all you could see were mountains, ocean, and natural preserved jungles.. Just breathtaking!!! This is Puerto Rico... The neighborhood is cultural and where the locals live, mostly elderly people. Again.. Its not advertised as the Ritz Carlton so go expecting the real Puerto Rico.. The locals kept to themselves mostly and were quiet. Which is exactly what I wanted to experience.. Puerto Rico.. Not a walled in dreamed up fantasy made by Americans from the US with golf courses that rip out everything authentic.. The recommendations were on point! Boardriders was fun, reminded me of a beachy/ New York bar/ restaurant.. Great people! All in all.. This will be our yearly destination.. Thank you Rocco for sharing your amazing condo!!
