We just want to say what a wonderful 2 weeks we had at La Barraca. Firstly the weather was wonderful and we used the pool with the lovely solar heating. The children had to be bribed to come out of it. The villa was fully equipped and would suit any type of holiday maker. The local area is with its outstanding beauty had so much to offer. We spent two full days in the national park walking and eating picnics. We ate at many restaurants too and think our favorite was Meson Sara in Puente Don Manuel, only 5 mins away. Th menu was great for family's and the staff very nice. We also visited a bird park that was local and enjoyed some lovely tapas. The owners Becky and David were great and even allowed us to visit their house where they have a small farm. Our kids got to collect fresh duck and chicken eggs and even ride on their horses. They made us feel very welcome and providing us with so much information on where to go and what to see. We will be back next year for sure.
I could not recommend this villa enough. It is in a secluded area surrounded by beautiful countryside, with spectacular views of the mountains. It is easily accessible from the main mountain road within 10 minutes drive of a small town with a bakers, butchers, small supermarket and a few bars. The villa itself is extremely well equipped, with everything you could need for your stay. We had a couple of rainy days so the extensive film library came in handy. Becky was a perfect host, around when we needed her but unobtrusive. Any problems were dealt with immediately - when we arrived the wifi didn't work, an engineer arrived the next morning and got it sorted. Our little boy loved the opportunity to help feed the animals on the nearby farm, it made his holiday. Becky is continually improving the villa, an outdoor kitchen area had been added that was not in the pictures, we made great use of this as well as the BBQ. Thank you for a wonderful holiday, we look forward to returning next year!
Alcaucin and the surrounding areas have everything for all the family no matter what your age or interest. There is something for everyone. Whether its a quiet relaxing holiday you want or an adventure holiday.
There is the local Lake La Vinuela where you can fish ( with a permit) or the national park for those who like to hike.
There are caves to explore, or suba diving on the coast.
Through the summer months there is always a fiesta on somewhere where you can experience the local traditions and party throughout the day and night. In the winter months you have Granada just under two hours drive away where you can ski or just play in the snow.
We also live in an area where you can go on the most wonderful hacks on horses, or maybe a theme park or water park is more your scene.
There are boat ports for those who like to dream about owning one and wildlife and sea centers for family entertainment.
Then there are the cities of Malaga or Granada where you can learn all about the history while shopping in small shops and dining on fine foods.
There really is so much more, too much to mention. Come along and experience for yourself.
Then, not forgetting for those who want to just chill and relax the villa has everything you need.
Air conditioning and air vent heating are charged at an additional 100€ per week . This can be decided upon on arrival in times of weather uncertainty .
