Guestbook comments from the manager

We really enjoyed our stay in your cabin and had the perfect fall weather. You certainly have thought of even the smallest detail. I don't think I've ever stayed in a rental that was so well-appointed.

I am already planning a fall stay next year, with my husband, when our youngest (hopefully) heads off to college.

Thanks, Lyn

Wonderful Tahoe Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous stay at the Bear Cub Cabin. It is thoughtfully appointed, with everything needed to support good home cooking and relaxing. Our party of 3 adults and 2 kids were very comfortable. We cooked most of our meals at home, and found everything we needed in the kitchen (even a rice cooker!). We spent the week skiing at Squaw/Alpine (20 min drive without traffic) and Northstar (about 45 min). Tahoe City has some nice restaurants, ski rental shops and lounges for apres ski.

The owners are wonderful! Pam provided clear instructions and always communicated promptly to any questions. This winter was epic in terms of snowfall in Tahoe- and we received about 3 feet new snow during the week we stayed. This challenged us a little in terms of parking and getting up to the cabin, since the snow banks were over 10 ft high. Pam communicated well in advance of our arrival and helped us prepare for these unusual conditions (you need chains to get up their road if you dont have 4WD or AWD). Snow removal service happened in the morning, so we usually were able to head out to skiing and snow play without any problem.

We absolutely loved staying at Bear Cub and hope we might be able to enjoy this place again in the future.

The Perfect Vacation Home!!

  • 5 of 5

This place is absolutely wonderful! It is incredibly cozy and welcoming. The bedrooms are located on the first floor and are all clean and beautifully decorated, very comfortable for all of us to enjoy a goodnight's sleep. The upstairs is the main living area and kitchen. It's a big open area with plenty of seating/lounging and wood burning fireplace. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots/pans and really, everything you could possibly need. The hot tub/sauna is a plus too, it's on the balcony and overlooks gorgeous Tahoe. Clean, comfortable, and cozy is really all we could ask for and it went beyond our expectations. The owners are very helpful and easy to communicate with too! What a lovely getaway!

Beautiful Setting!

  • 5 of 5

We really loved this higher elevation neighborhood and cozy home. Wood burning fireplace was a special bonus. House had everything that we needed including newer hot tub on the deck. We are hoping to get back up there this month. Best skiing conditions in years so we are trying to find a few days to make the trip again.. Not much snow last month but so much there now that it will feel like a different place.. We are looking forward to active participation in the best snowfall of the decade!

Best vacation ever

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at the cabin in late summer, with our three small dogs. We enjoyed the hiking, the beaches including especially Sand Harbor, and the tram up to High Camp at Squaw Valley (we walked the 5 miles down as the trail was longer, diverted onto a road for a way). Thoroughly recommend this mountain and hike.

There is also a very convenient trail two minutes from the house to exercise dogs, which we used twice a day.

The house is great and we were very happy. The house itself is delightful and a good deal and the location is excellent.

Unfortunately one of our dogs chewed a blind (must have been the day we went for retail therapy in Reno). I did not notice this and was contacted immediately and efficiently by the owner on our return home. Her email covered all details of the damage and cost including photos of blind and receipt and I was only deducted $65 from the deposit, so all was well.

Tahoe is truly the best vacation spot with so much to do, and we will be back. It is a wonderful house.

Great Vacation home

  • 5 of 5

The Bear Cub Cabin was perfect for our family vacation. Could easily accommodate 2 families of four. Great open living area upstairs. The mornings and afternoons on the deck are amazing. Great location to Meeks bay to the south and Tahoe City to the North, not to mention Sunnyside beach and market at the bottom of the hill.

The bedding was very comfortable. Perfectly stocked kitchen for cooking (nice sharp knives). The owners take extra effort to ensure your stay is perfect and they definitely take pride in their cabin. The rates are very Affordable.

Our family will definitely be venturing back to the Bear Cub Cabin for future vacations. Thanks for making our stay so great.
