The MountainView House, an expansive 'Victorian inn', was built in the early 1920’s and offers groups a unique blend of architectural detail and modern conveniences. Decorated in a country Victorian style, this large house is well appointed and comfortably accommodates up to 33 guests. For those not engaged in outdoor activities, there is a formal sitting room with a beautiful fireplace, a living room with a huge flat screen TV that is near perfect for watching movies or sporting events, and a large hot tub in the enclosed back porch. There are also 2 separate and highly customizable dining areas that can be used for game nights should foul weather be an issue. The house is located in the Village of Bryant Pond, aka Woodstock, and is mere minutes to Sunday River & Mt. Abram skiing & the Town of Bethel. It's a pleasant 5 minute walk to Lake Christopher and our 3 other properties.
EARLY CHECK-IN/LATE CHECK-OUT: We will negotiate an early check-in time and/or a late check-out time if there are no back-to-back groups with reservations.

We enjoyed our stay at the Mountain view house this past weekend.
The house was old and had character but needed some TLC.
We did make a few notes to help you improve it for the next group:
The place was not very clean when we arrived. There were several spider webs, etc. Bedroom 3 has a torn shower curtain. Some of the hair dryers didn't work. Blinds are coming down in several rooms. The second floor stool in the standalone bathroom had to be plunged several times as well as the downstairs one. There is peeling wallpaper and non painted touchups in most of the rooms. Although there are beds for 33, there were only dishes for 19 and only 19 chairs in the dining room. The kitchen was not very well stocked as far as pots and pans, cups and dishes. The oven door does not close all of the way. We had one couple that wanted to do some laundry. There was no laundry detergent and the dryer does not work. The stairs were difficult for some of our crew that were in their 80's. The noise from logging trucks and trains in the middle of the night took some getting used. The home is in town on a curve so the trucks have to shift in the curve. Lead to some sleepless nights.
All in all we had a good time, and overlooked these issues, but the house needs a lot of work and fixing up, and a better job cleaning.
My group consisted of roughly 25-30 college age kids. The owner was incredibly gracious and welcoming. The house came full prepared with all the necessary amenities, such as kitchen utensils, toilet paper, towels, laundry soap and a host of other essentials. All that my group found necessary to bring were our own clothes and toiletries - certainly a convenience when traveling.
During the time of the year we stayed at this wonderful house, the weather was absolutely beautiful! Perfect, sunny, warm days.
Just a very short walk from the house is the beautiful and clean Lake Christopher. The houses came equipped with an assortment of kayaks, life jackets and numerous other water toys.
If one needed anything, there was a small, hometown convenience store, with well-priced essentials, right down the street from the house.
The house itself is very large with many, many available bedrooms. Although the house was a bit older in person and little more beat up, the house was wonderfully cozy and comforting.
My group and I enjoyed our stay and can say with certainty that we will always remember our time there as one of the best weeks of our lives. In fact, we hope to make our trip an annual occurrence.
All in all, I would highly recommend this house for it's conveniences, the close proximity to the lake, the wonderful weather of the area, and the serene Maine natural setting.
We just spent a week here with 30+ family members. The house was great: very clean and well equipped. The shared waterfront worked well. The hot tub was enjoyed by all especially the kids. The only down side is that the house is on RT 26 which is very busy and noisy but the house is set far enough back that it was easy to keep the young kids away from the road and we quickly got used to the noise.
Other Activities: snowmobiling, show shoeing
