About Penny Williams

My husband and I are both teachers who are hoping to retire from teaching we reach 67 ! We visited Croatia with a view to buying at some point in the future. After arriving on Brac we fell in love with the island and decided to look for a property immediately. We toured the island and enjoyed Sutivan so much we bought our house there. It has the perfect mix of a good range of amenities in a beautiful unspoilt village.

We employed a builder who completely renovated and restored the house whilst maintaining traditional features outside with a contemporary interior.

We love visiting Sutivan and feel as if we are coming home having become friends with some of the locals.

Penny Williams purchased this house in 2004

Why Penny Williams chose Sutivan

We love the location of the house in the oldest part of the village. It is completely tranquil as there is no road and we are surrounded by traditional houses. However we are able to walk to fabulous beaches, the harbour and restaurants in 2 minutes.

The house is a traditional stone house which we have renovated in a contemporary style. it is light and simple in decor, but well equipped.

What makes this house unique

Quietness, charm, and closeness to beach, harbour and restaurants.

Contemporary Dalmatian stone house close to beach in Sutivan Village on Brac

A range of lovely beaches in the village
Car: not necessary

Sutivan is an unspoilt peaceful village giving a real taste of traditional Croatian life. However it offers a range of fabulous waterfront cafe's, bars and restaurants. Fresh fish and seafood risotto are local specialities. There is free wifi available in the cafes.

In the village there are 3 grocery shops, a fruit & veg market, bakery and fresh fish shop.

In Sutivan there is the Aldura outdoor activity centre which can provide equipment, instruction and trips for a wide range of sporting and cultural activities including climbing, walking, mountain biking, cycling, windsurfing, Kayaking, stand up paddling and wine and olive tasting. The many beaches in Sutivan are quiet and the warm, sparkling water is safe for swimming.

Boat trips around the island and to Trogir run from the village as well as a good bus and taxi service and car and boat hire.

There are many lovely places to visit on the island including Bol, Milna, Splitska, Postira, Bobovisca, Pucisca, Povlja and Dol which are beautiful traditional Croatian villages/harbours. Vidova Gora offers stunning views of Brac and Hvar.

Brac has a wild unspoit interior with olive groves and wild flowers. It is possible to walk for miles without seeing other people with only mountain goats for company.

There are regular ferries to Split, Hvar and Makarska.

The climate is wonderful throughout most of the year being warm in the spring and autumn with hotter weather in the summer.
