Overview

Nova Scotia Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Cottage, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 5)

Mainsail Cottage is a charming well-appointed two level cottage situated right on the shore of Hubbards Cove; the ocean is less than thirty feet from the door. This is a safe place to swim with no dangerous currents or sudden drop offs. The view is breath-taking; you look straight out to sea as well up into Hubbards Cove. The grounds are beautiful, enhanced by the color of many mini gardens, flowering shrubs and fruit trees. Our rental is the entire first level, which is the ground floor. My husband Donnie and I live above. Our guests have two private side entrances. The beach in front of Mainsail Cottage is only for our own personal use and that of our guests. Donnie and I enter our own living area from the rear of the house and he and I sit outside on a back deck so that our paying guests can have privacy on the side and front lawns. This is a fully winterized one bedroom, non smoking, self-catering cottage that can sleep five easily. It has a queen-size bed, a double futon with a privacy curtain in the living area, and a single cot that can be set up if required. The open plan kitchen/dining/living area is very spacious with lots of comfortable seating, a dining table that can accommodate six people, and an electric fireplace. It is bright and airy, with four windows, two of which measure almost four feet by five to take advantage of the wonderful view up the cove and straight out to sea. This is a quiet and tranquil place in which to relax. Mainsail Cottage has an ample store of movies, books and games. WiFi broadband is included in the rental fee. We are situated centrally within the village of Hubbards so that it is an easy walk to the mall, to the access for the Rails to Trails, the Pharmasave, the Farmer’s Market, the Trellis Café, the post office and the library. At the same time, as we are located at the end of a long private lane, we are removed from the bustle and noise of the traffic in this busy seaside community. We think we have the best of both worlds here! This is a delightful spot for a pleasant , private and peaceful holiday.

There is a lot of wild life to enjoy. We are off the beaten track, therefore our property is very quiet and private . It is close to many other south shore attractions: 50 minutes from the airport, 35 minutes to Halifax, just over an hour to the Martock ski slope and the Annapolis valley. The local 'Rails to Trails' provide a venue to cross country ski or snow shoe, bike or walk. Our property is absolutely beautiful in the winter. It would be a lovely place to spend a romantic Christmas. It's an ideal spot to rest and relax, study, write or work in a quiet and beautiful setting. Sorry we can't accommodate pets.

Rental rates: July and August $130 per night, $800 per week

June and September: $120 per night $750 per week

From Oct. 1st to May 31st: $110 per night, $700 per week

Comfort, Convenience and Perfection

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful drive, spanning nearly 2000 kilometers, is fantastically capped as our family of four pull in to the Mainsail and its perfect view of the Atlantic ocean. Before we can draw a breath of the salty air our amazing hosts are greeting us.

We get the welcoming tour and what a great place it is!

A very clean space with ample linens and stocked full of all the little things you don't want to have to get while away. Small extras provided by our hosts made going swimming, having a campfire or enjoying the Hubbard's parade even more amazing.

The photos are unable to capture the beauty of the setting or the surprising amount of space afforded within the cottage.

Hubbard's was full of amazing sites and activities. Our lucky timing coordinated with fireworks, a parade, and live performances on the cove. Everyone we met was welcoming and helpful when needed. If you have the pleasure of being in Hubbard's for the farmer's market it is an essential stop.

I would be remiss if I did not mention the ceilidh we experienced as our hosts, at the Trellis Cafe, gave us a memorable performance that is a highlight of our visit.

Every moment of our stay could be described like the music of that night.

"And the songs get louder,

Each one better than before"

We would be back in a heartbeat.

Owner's Response: We are so pleased that this wonderful family appreciated our place so much, we had such fun watching the girls enjoying the water, and the burn barrel and the fireworks. And the parade! And the music at the Trellis jam! You all certainly got the very most possible out of your holiday and it was an absolute delight to have you here. Thank you for such a lovely review. Wonderful,Relaxing,Rejuvenating!

  • 5 of 5

We recently had the pleasure of staying at Mainsail Cottage for a few days. It was truly a wonderful experience. The hosts were charming and thoughtful. The cottage was great..it was an additional treat to discover we did not need our Bodum..it had one already!! It was beautifully maintained and very clean. Honestly it was like a home away from home with everything we could possibly need and then some..and the beach towels were fluffy and wonderful!

The view was spectacular and the water was divine! In the time we were there,we rediscovered the joy of being peaceful and the bliss of morning swims and afternoon kayaking.

Dinner at the Blue Tuna was amazing..I recommend the pan fried haddock..YUM!!

Thank you so much for sharing this treasure with us. We will be back!

Loved it and will be going back.

I arrived o Friday afternoon to set by the Ocean and read my book . The view is amazing from the lawn chair. The sounds of the ocean waves . When I arrived I was greeted by Carol .Oh what a lovely person . She showed me the cottage and wow the views from the big front windows are just as amazing . The cottage has everything you need except some food you want to cook. The cottage feels very spacious for only 600 sq ft.

On Sat my daughter arrived with 2 of my grand daughters. Well lets just say they loved the cottage, the ocean and the lawn area. The 4yr old told me when we went to be that night,Nannie this was the best day of my life. We found lots of seaglass and a dried little crab. We watched the boats.

I will be going back I hope soon. A very peaceful little get away.

Thanks Carol and Donnie for letting me enjoy a little piece of your wonderful property.

Most Beautiful View!!!!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this cottage for an evening for a friends 30th birthday. The hosts were very accommodating and the cottage was equipped with absolutely everything you would possibly need while vacationing. The front yard is situated directly on the ocean and the view is absolutely breathtaking. This was by far the most relaxing afternoon we've had as couples vacationing. The local entertainment at the Shore Club was excellent. If you're looking for a relaxing evening, this is your spot!
