Beautiful remodeled home in private New England beachside community: Bonnet Shores. Owner was a previous Martha Stewart Living employee so one can imagine the attention to detail. The home is very well appointed with beautiful bed linens, gourmet kitchen and everything and anything you might need for a perfect picnic lunch at the beach or a sunset picnic dinner while listening to the JVC jazz festival in Newport. The home has a beautiful open living/kitchen floor plan with skylights and a large deck amidst a beautiful canopy of trees... perfect for lounging or dining. Walk to the beach or through Audubon protected trails to the URI Marine campus. Little beach is steps away, shuttle to Kelly beach or take one of the many bikes and wagons like the locals. High Speed Internet Access and Fax/Printer available.
School year renters: we are looking for a group of MATURE students to love and respect our home as much as we do. It is a great house for a group of six. It is close to everything based around URI and it is in a beautiful location. It is perfect for students at the Bay Campus because of it's close proximity. There is a hiking trail across the street from the house that leads right to the campus...a beautiful 10 minute walk.
Summer renters: this is a perfect home for 2-3 families who want to vacation together or for a large family. There are 3 levels with 2 beds and 1 bath per floor.
The house will have bikes, wagons, sand toys, beach chairs, umbrellas and coolers...everything you need for a perfect day on a beautiful New England beach.
This house is way overdue for routine maintenance. Seems like neglect over the past several years has added up.
1. There is mold in the closet in one of the basement bedrooms.
2. There was water leaking from the downstairs toilet.
3. The bureaus and dressers in almost every room were broken. It was hard if not impossible to use them for storage. The bottoms of some of the drawers were missing.
4. The A/C in the main living area was completely ineffective.
5. The sink in the main floor bathroom did not drain from day 1. This got progressively worse over the course of the week. The sink was unusable by day 5.
6. The Wifi and cable were not working when we got there; it was apparently disconnected due to lack of bill payment by home owner.
7. The TV never worked either.
8. Trash and recycling had not been cleared. It may be that the previous tenants left it there, but the home cleaners prior to our arrival should have cleared that out. We ultimately put out weeks of recycling!
9. They want the towels washed and dried but the dryer took forever. Probably improper venting... again overdue routine maintenance.
10. The kitchen window crank was broken.
Overall, the description of this home is greatly exaggerated. This is not a luxury beach house. There are many basic functional problems with this place. Instead of focusing on looks/color, they need to get a carpenter, a plumber and an HVAC person to take a few weeks to bring this house to rental quality. It is definitely not worth the money.
It is not walking distance to a good beach and there are many more spices that we use than were in the cabinet.
We will not be visiting this place again.
We had a lovely family reunion vacation on Bonnet Shores. There were 9 of us and we fit very comfortably in the 6 bedroom 3 bathroom home. The bikes and beach gear provided were an awesome perk and made life very easy for us on vacation. However, we must note that this house is in need of tremendous maintenance and upgrade. Once we got used to the fact that the house was very weathered, battered, and had an overwhelming musty smell, we had a great vacation, but if you are expecting something more luxurious, please be warned. To list the repairs and upgrading this house needs would be too numerous to mention. We only called the property manager when we first arrived because the garbage outside was overflowing and outside of the trash bins; it was promptly removed, but we never called to complain about the house. For the price, location, size, and extra equipment provided, we enjoyed ourselves and had a great time, but do not expect a luxurious beach house.
We really enjoyed our stay this past July. The house was well maintained and nicely decorated. It had clean, nice quality sheets/bedding and plenty of towels for the bath and beach. The layout is perfect for families sharing - 2 bedrooms and 1 full bath on each level. It does not have a yard, but is a 5 minute walk to the little local beach and less than 2 miles away from Kelly Beach - we enjoyed the biking down there and was a nice change from the busy town beach by coast guard house. The neighborhood was quiet and everyone very friendly - it was great being right between Narragansett and Newport since we enjoy visiting both. We were worried being farther from Narragansett center, but the local grocery store and fish market were perfect and great coffee, ice ream and breakfast within 1 mile.
This is an amazing beach house! Our family (plus in-laws) from kids to grandparents were equally thrilled with the open living floor plan - two living rooms were spot on for our group - to the private bedrooms and full baths. The decor was amazing. The kitchen was beautifully stocked and the bedrooms all had linens that I would have in my own home. I appreciated that.
I cannot wait to rent this beautiful home again - the binder the owner created with local "things to do" went above and beyond our expectations.
We can't wait to come back!
Golf: There are several great golf courses in the area: Jamestown, Beaver River and Exeter are our favorites.
