A little slice of French Heaven!
We wanted a peaceful, restful and relaxing holiday and that's exactly what we got!
We've never done a self-catering villa holiday before, this villa has set a very high standard and we are now converts.
Met on arrival by Catherine (property manager) and Marcel (property owner) who were very welcoming and informative despite language barriers.
The villa is set in a rural location with a lovely outlook at the Alpilles ranges, surrounded by small agriculture producers.
The only noise is from the crickets, birds, the odd neigh from the horses, and the occasional passing car.
The villa is clean, modern and very well appointed - crockery, cutlery, pots, pans in abundance, the only thing missing was a cheese grater.
Beds were comfy, plenty of spare bedding should you need it and towels provided.
Tv's in every room and the showers although not powerful were big walk in ones, be careful though shower floor gets really slippery.
Garden was big and lush with interesting wildlife - frogs, little lizards and we found a preying Mantis! I'm not a creepy crawley fan but they kept themselves to themselves :-)
Pool was a great size and a welcome cool place in the 37c heat! Plenty of sunbeds for everyone too.
There's a covered terrace outside with a table and seating for 10, a mist spraying system is installed if it gets too hot - bliss!
The nearest village is Chateaurenard which is really pretty and has a market on a Saturday, we also drove to Marseilles for the day but we decided rural France was more us and couldn't wait to get back to the tranquillity of the villa.
I won't pretend everything was perfect so here are some real picky negatives, mostly from our teenage son's point if view:
- WIFI not consistent - used our data instead
- French TV (I know! It didn't bother me but if you are bringing a teenager....)
- Broken garden parasol
- Some door furniture loose
- As mentioned before, slippery shower floor
- More flys than I'm used to, but outside and only bugged you if you had food
- Warned about mosquitos in the evenings, but I was only bitten twice and I'm usually eaten alive, so not really a problem
- Think this point depends where you come from but we found it strange that the toilets were seperate from the shower rooms/ensuites and there were no hand basins where the toilets were
All in all we had the perfect holiday in the petfect setting - we will be back!
Thank s so much Karen i so happy to receive you again whith your family
Sincerely Catherine et Marcel

THEN....... Les Baux de Provence classified Station, Remarkable Site of Taste, Most Beautiful Villages of France, Les Baux-de-Provence affirm their prestige image site within the Regional Park of the Alpilles. Located in the heart of the Alpilles on a rocky plateau, the city of Les Baux de Provence dominates Arles and the Camargue and offers a breathtaking panorama. Patiently restored, the city has a historical and architectural heritage with 22 monuments: The Château des Baux is a unique testimony of medieval history, the Church of Saint Vincent both Romanesque and Renaissance with its beautiful stained glass Max Ingrand, the Post Tenebras Lux renaissance window, which shows the influence of the Huguenots in the eleventh century mansions and sixteenth seventeenth century hosting art galleries and museums such as the Musée Yves Brayer and Santon Museum and the Louis Jou Foundation where you will discover other treasures, not to mention the Mayor which occupies the former Hôtel de Manville. Here, at the foot of a fig tree that seems to watch over this mysterious source, spring water gushes from the depths of the earth trembling foam that creates rainbows in the sky the sun; in summer, it is a deep abyss and dark that is discovered, and the fig tree reveals his roots as a gold digger, digging the earth in search of treasures hidden deep ... At Isle sur la Sorgue, change of scenery. Sorgue sings in the paddle wheels, the canals reminiscent of Venice, and where it sometimes crosses nego chin, these "Provencal gondolas."
