The house is great! Has all the comforts of home and Barbara really takes care of you. What a deal!
The house is a beautiful, cosy old farmhouse in a very pretty spot. It was very comfortable for 4 adults and two kids. There is a loft bed for kids but getting up there is trickier than you might imagine so not great for younger kids. Ours are 11 and did ok. The information we got from Barbara was very comprehensive and she was very helpful. It's quite isolated so we brought most of our food with us and glad we did. The kids took snowboarding lessons at Hunter mountain, about 45 minutes away. Bellaryre is closer but smaller. We spent most of our time at the house as it was so very cosy so I can't say much about restaurants in the area. We would like to go back in the summer and maybe we'll get out a bit more. It's a very pretty spot, peaceful and comfortable. Very good value for money overall.
We stayed as a gift for my daughter that turn fifteen and wanted to see the snow falling and feel by herself all that cabin in the woods lifestyle. As magic, it snow the afternoon we arrived.
The house was so cozy and beautiful that she and her sister could not be happier. There was a small bed in a loft in the first floor where they spent a lot of time playing, they love that place. We also get to warm the house with the fireplace and make smores in the firepit eventhough the temperature was 0 that day. We also get to cook an bake a cake and some cookies because the kitchen is really complete with everything you can need. I could keep numbering all the things we love but I will resume by telling you that we loved every single moment and eveeything in the house. Bill the property manager gave us excellent customer service and was always available for us. I am for sure returning to this house because it was wonderful, we love it.
My family and I enjoy this rental. It was a great getaway after school ended with the kids. We enjoy the outdoors and did a little exploring and a campfire with Snores. We loved the house. It was so cozy. We're totally doing this again next summer!
My wife and I rented the house in the second week of December 2014. The house was perfect.
Barbara could not have been more helpful prior to our arrival. The information she provides you with is
incredibly comprehensive and answers any questions you could possibly have while you're there. The
pictures are real and everything in the ad is real. Unfortunately it rained most of the time we were there but we
had a great time in the house just cooking and relaxing by the fireplace. We also had our 14 month old son with us and he had a good time too. One thing that was really convenient was the the small farm doors that separate the
different sections of the house so for example we were able to stay in the kitchen and not have to worry about our son
running to the other rooms to explore. We were also able to relax by the fireplace and watch TV in
the living room without having to think about him on the stairs or running into the kitchen. Just close the
farm doors and you can keep an eye on your little one without getting up. It was an added bonus that we
had not even thought about. We plan to go back again before the winter ends. The kitchen is truly stocked
and in good shape. We had everything we needed to prepare our meals and the dishwasher was great to
have. We did get to walk the property a little and it really is amazing. We are hoping it snows next time we go so we
can enjoy the property more. The heat in the house is great and it was really cold weather when we were there. All
together it was a wonderful time and we are happy that Barbara allowed us to rent from her. We feel like we
found a hidden gem. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy cabin feel in a rural setting to get
Away from it all.
Perfect getaway! Our family of four - all adults - enjoyed S'mores in the fireplace, walks along the reservoir nearby, home-cooked meals, and easy access to Woodstock or Phoenicia (be sure to save room for breakfast at Sweet Sue's). Set in a beautiful location, the house is very comfortable, cozy, and the owner has obviously taken a lot of care to provide the conveniences & little touches that make the difference between "good" and "excellent." The house is lovely - clean and well-maintained, and the kitchen really does have just about anything a cook could need! Communication from the owner was excellent, and the information provided was thorough and well thought out. Highly recommend it - a definite encore!!!
A great place for hikers, bikers, skiers, artists, writers, poets, cooks, bakers or folks wanting to get away for peaceful solitude, or plan a fun vacation with friends. Near all warm weather activities and close to all Catskills ski resorts for snowy winter stays. 15mi. to Woodstock, Phoenicia and many small towns in between!
Other Activities: Rock climbing, skiing, tubing and spas
Golf: Several 4 star rated courses in the area
Stone Dock ; Wiltwyck ; Alapaha ; New Paltz ; Nevele Grande ; Apple Greens ; Dinsmore
Ski: Belleayre and Hunter are both wonderful day trips from the house. Nestled just about half way in between the two locations, either destination works -or- trying both is fun for mixing things up.
