Geoff worked for over 35 years in the FM sector and Gwen over 35 years as a Nurse with the last 15 years working in the community around South Cheshire.

Family particular Grandchildren play a big part of life these days and also some travel when they can sneak away.

Geoff and Gwen Burdett purchased this apartment in 1987

Why Geoff and Gwen Burdett chose Haughton

Rookery Cottage just called out to us when we were searching for a home in the Chester area having moved here from the Lickey Hills near Birmingham in 1987. The house is an old estate cottage built in 1907 and extended sensitively by Geoff and Gwen. Countryside living beckoned and has has rooted us here since.

What makes this apartment unique

A place to relax with great Cheshire countryside, great local pubs a place to chill yet great links to Chester, Manchester and Liverpool. Also don't forget the Potteries and a fantastic canal network nearby.

A wonderful stay at The Rookery

  • 5 of 5

A very clean and quiet apartment. Very compact but it had everything we needed. The care package upon arrival was greatly appreciated as we had travelled from Canada and grocery shopping was the last thing we wanted to do. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Amazing

  • 5 of 5

Just got back from a weekend here, stayed in the apartment.

From the moment we arrived we felt "at home" i have recently been diagnosed with a serious medical condition and so needed some peace and quiet for me to have a rest and think before a busy few months. Well i certainly got my peace and quiet. We sat for ages just trying to listen for noises ha! Makes such a peaceful change for me. Its in a beautiful location, shops and things are quite a bit away so id suggest you drive if u want to visit here.

The sign as you enter is quite small but we found it really easy with the driving instuctions.

The owners house/cottage is beautiful, and all the gardens surrounding are so pritty. The apartment is attached onto the owners house but we didnt hear them once. The apartment is perfect for 2 people, downstairs kitchen and bathroom and upstairs lounge and bedroom. I enjoyed looking down on my partner making tea,in the kitchen is a massive window. Its so beautiful. Looking out is a dove house, chickens and geese. If you love farm life then you will love it here. Everything you could want or need is provided wth the apartment. All kitchen equipment. The bathroom is lovely and bright and the shower works fine. The telly has a dvd player and in the cupboard underneath is jigsaws, cards, boardgames books and dvds. The bedroom is a gorgeous relaxed room with a star light window. We lay with it open when it wasnt raining and just looked at the stars.

When we got there i had took everything with me, however we had a welcome hamper waiting, what a lovely touch.

Fresh flowers had be placed for our arrival and it really made my day. They smelt beautifully, our intention was to go to the nags head to eat, but i was so comfortable and happy we decided to stay in. I would recommend this apartment 100 times over, its such a beautiful little gem.

It was spotless and the bed was so so comfy. The hosts were lovely and kind and I was actually really disappointed that we had to leave. I will be coming back for definate in the future. Thankyou so much for the peaceful break i needed. X

Warm, clean and comfortable.

  • 5 of 5

Rookery Apartment is a very well equipped, spotlessly clean and comfortable base for exploring Chester and the surrounding area. Very good dining pub is five minutes walk away. The owners are helpful and very friendly. Eating arrangements are slightly awkward as the kitchen is quite compact, but that's the only slight negative.
