Born and raised in beautiful Tioga County (God's Country) I had wanted to be close to my family.I always dreamed of having a 'log cabin' in the woods, when I found this place it was barely liveable, plywood steps, holey roof, sliding down the hill. After three years of constant construction and putting dreams to reality, we have a gorgeous place. We enjoy sharing it with others and especially like hearing the wonderful compliments on the unusual decor including the spiral staircase and slate compass in the floor.
We are located so close to everything at Tom Cat Hollow. You are only 1/2 hour from Corning glass works and a short drive beyond there to the Finger Lakes wineries. Just 15 minutes from the gorgeous Pine Creek valley and the Grand Canyon of PA. as well as the charming town of Wellsboro with it's gas lit streets and antique shops. Just as charming, the ability to sit on the front porch and listen to the Turkeys 'gobble' or see a deer browsing in the woods. Calm and peaceful, restful and cozy. Marshmallows at the fire pit, coffee on the porch in the misty morning. Who could want for more?
The structure of this cabin is what dreams are made of! The photos provided don't give it justice. However there are things that need work. During my stay I noticed: An over abundance of "mouse evidence" in the bedroom; someone did not attempt to clean before I came because the dresser and candle was covered. And the sewage system that kicked on the evening of my last day. I could have looked past the loud noise, but within an hour the entire cabin was filled with the pungent smell of methane/hydrogen sulfide resembling rotten eggs, which is dangerous! I had to crack some windows and open the door to ensure that I would be okay until morning. If/when these items are taken care of, this cabin would be a perfect getaway.
this cabin was very nice. I loved the inside. the esthetics were awesome. the bed was very comfortable!!!!! you have to see the spiral staircase to really appreciate it. just some small issues for the owner: the outside lights didn't work(we arrived at night so it was a little tough to see), there was a grill outside without a propane tank( if I was informed of that I would have brought one with me). the owner said that there was wood all over outside for the wood stove inside, there was but it was wet and hard to burn. i'm not complaining about this property at all, I would come back to stay in a heartbeat. just some small fixes for the owners.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Tom Cat Hollow Lodge. Nice secluded little cabin with all of the comforts of home. Hope to make another trip in the future!
The cabin and the area around it are spectacular. The cabin is very clean and surprisingly bug-free considering that it is far back in the woods. We wished we were able to stay longer. Our only complaint would be the dim lighting in the cabin, even during the day.
it was everything we hoped for and more...the pictures on line didn't do it justice...the decor, the setting, the workmanship, all excellent...a well stocked kitchen and such natural beauty...the wifi didn't work but we could live without it...would definitely stay there again!
Near to the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon, Finger Lakes wineries, Corning Glass Museum and charming town of Wellsboro with its gas lit streets. Within 1 hr of two ski resorts. Two lakes within 10 minutes drive for boating, fishing and swimming.
