About Richard Beck
Hello, and welcome to our VRBO site. I am Richard Beck. I just recently purchased this property and started managing/renting the property ( 10/12/18 ) & the only reason we currently have 15 five-star avg***** reviews. We do have 93++ five-star*****reviews with our other VRBO unit (514461 ) in just over five yrs and we are grateful to our past renters for our reviews. Please note- We seek guests who will appreciate the fact that we treat this property as a home & not just a rental unit. We live in northeast Massachusetts ( Middleton ) with our two college-aged daughters. We are originally from New York and New Hampshire, respectively. College was the draw to the Boston area & we never left. In 2006, we bought a very special beachfront property in Salisbury, Massachusetts ( Est. 1638 ), which is directly on the New Hampshire/Mass line. We started renting that home through VRBO/HomeAway in February, 2014, and 105+ combined five *****star reviews ( www.vrbo.com/514461 ) later, & premier partner status as well, it has been both enjoyable & enriching. We are also extremely proud that out of 608 Salisbury/Hampton/Seabrook region properties, in a very short span, VRBO metrics ranks our property #1! We've met many amazing people from all-over-the-world through this venture. We decided, why not try the premiere vacation destination like North Myrtle Beach/Myrtle Beach?! We look forward to any questions you may have, your booking and your review. :) Thanks again for visiting our site. We know you have many to view ( 10,214 & counting....) & we appreciate your patience, due diligence, inquiry, consideration, interest, and time. Thank you. You're dealing/booking with the owner-No agency, property mgr or call center. That means action, service, attention to detail, support, responsiveness, & accountability! Please note- We also have a stunning direct oceanfront 3 br, 3 bth that sleeps 10. VRBO.com/1547274. Please check-it-out! Purchased January, 20, 2019.
Richard Beck purchased this Villa in 2018
Why Richard Beck chose Ocean Drive Beach
We studied the North Myrtle Beach ( NMB ) and Myrtle Beach real estate market for about 19.5 months during the buying/search process. We wanted to make sure we made the right choice and the best fit. After spending 10 days looking at a variety of properties in-person, we happily and easily decided on the deluxe Atlantis Villas 301. First, we were amazed by this spectacular beach, a few steps away, in the North Myrtle Ocean Drive section. We've seen many great beaches and this one is a true gem! 60 miles of white sandy beach, tranquil salt marshes, inlets, and the inter-coastal waterway. This property offers many features including and not limited to a large family friendly swimming pool, hot tub/Jacuzzi, a few steps to the ocean, grilling area, privacy, space, 5 parking spots ( our unit is the only one with five ), parking under, units are 13' above sea level, 100% maintenance free, and walking distance to Main St ( .75 miles ). A short drive to over 2,000 restaurants, shopping galore, amusements, theater, golf ( close to 100 ), Myrtle Beach; if interested, Murrells Inlet, and so much more to list and not enough space. The area is visited by over 16 million+ travelers each and every year. It's also considered one of America's most popular and iconic year-round drive-to vacation destinations. The population is only 32,240 and it NEVER feels crowded. There is something here for everyone! This is why we chose NMB! We hope you will, too. Out of 10,124 properties available through VRBO/HomeAway rentals, we like this one best, and think you will, too....... Come "sea" what the fuss is about............... Safety- Fire sprinklers throughout entire unit. They are serviced and upgraded if required, annually. Hard-wired smoke detectors throughout unit. All are designed according to code. Safety is paramount; especially in a rental unit and another reason why we chose this property out-of-many! Again, come "sea" what the fuss is about...............
What makes this Villa unique
This villa is 3,888 sq ft of unique space and design and offers both close-knit comfort and privacy, if desired. 8 large bedrooms with 7 king ( two are king-swings for our golf groups ) and 4 queen beds. 7 full bathrooms; some with double-sinks, and Jacuzzi tubs. ..............Wow, 8 bedrooms AND 7 full baths.............. How's that for a ratio? All the bedrooms are located on the second and third floors, in case one needs a nap. All bedrooms have ample closet space for your things. The unit has a ton of storage closets for beach stuff, etc. Extra wide hallways- all tile and hardwood floors throughout; and no carpet anywhere. Many of the bedrooms have private access to our three large balconies combining for 1,800 sq ft of outdoor space. The balconies offer ocean views, and you can hear the waves from the balconies. The entire unit is tastefully decorated with a coastal flair. The first floor offers two huge rooms that consist of a living area with 55" TV and a recreation room with pool table/ping pong combo, 55" SMART TV and a card table, as well as ample seating in both rooms. This floor also has a full bathroom as well as two access points to the first floor balcony, and the elevator. The extra-large, fully-equipped kitchen, is also on the first level and has seating for 22; which is important because most rentals do not offer seating for everyone and that is taboo. The kitchen has all major appliances including several coffee makers, two large refrigerators, an upright freezer in the laundry room with the washer/dryer, and a huge granite center island that seats 9 and is ideal for prep work as well as incredible granite counter space for games. We purposely chose this unit because it is not oceanfront. We were concerned about coastal storms and preferred ocean view, plus the fact that we are 13' above ground, was also important to us. This unit & property has every bell and whistle & the amazing 60 mile long beach!
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
This was a family vacation w/ Grandma, Uncle, Brother & SIL, Husband and kids. We loved being able to bring our dog and was careful and responsible with her so they continue this luxury. There was more than enough room and the layout was ideal.
Most importantly the owner was awesome. He contacted me several times before during and after our trip to make sure we were comfortable and happy. I felt like I was renting from a family member. There were a few little issues we noticed (regular wear & tear) and we let him know. He immediately said he would take care of the issues. The experience made us want to rent from him all the time.
Thanks for making time to post a review. I'm so pleased your entire family enjoyed their stay, as that is our only goal. Thanks also for your the kind words. Thanks again for mentioning the two items that needed attention as we addressed these prior to the next arrival. We appreciate this so much. Feedback is invaluable and so is your review. I hope you'll visit us again!
We have a wonderful time staying at this property. There were a total of 18 people that stayed and we all had plenty of space. The main floor allowed for lots of visiting between families and the upstairs bedrooms were away from the noise. Great place!
Thank you for your review and booking. We love to hear when groups have a wonderful time, as that’s our goal. We’re glad you appreciated the space and the socializing areas as well as the space for privacy. It’s what’s so great about our unit! Thank you and please visit again.
Great stay!!definatly a great place for a big family plenty of room and great location
Had a great stay at this property would definatly reccomend for any type of stay weekend visit or a whole week visit great ownership right on a any problem that may arise would most definatly rent again in the future
Thank you for review # lucky 13. We appreciate your rental and are pleased you had a great stay. Hope you’ll visit again. Thank you for your kind comments about our ownership. Our goal is for you to have a great stay and we accomplished this. Thanks again.
Our stay at the Beach Villa was nice. The home had everything we needed. It was very spacious. All the rooms were big enough for our needs. Plenty of room in the dining and kitchen areas. The entry code was a little tricky at first but once we got the hang of it, it was a breeze.
2nd floor stayed warmer than the 3rd, but it was still somewhat cool. There was plenty of linens and towels for our stay.
The owner made us aware of an issue (ping pong table topper) and immediately fixed the problem. The owner was able to answer any and every question that we had arise during our stay. The house was prepared for us upon arrival, and it was even made available before our original check-in.
Parking was a little tight, but manageable. There was plenty of parking spots, they were just tight in some areas. Having the elevator was a HUGE plus, bc we had a larger party with a lot of luggage. They also provided carts to help with your luggage as well. There is a small charcoal grilling area with a huge grill downstairs. For the smokers ( my family doesn't but the family with us did) there is an smoking area away from the building.
BEACH ACCESS was awesome. You are literally several feet from the sand which is a PLUS. Also it was nice that this area is not crowded and we were able to spread out as much as we wanted too. Nice pool ( plus it's not deep so if you have small children that's good for them) and a nice hot tube. If you happen to forget beach items (several beach floats and some chairs were in the closet downstairs) dont worry they have some.
Also the Villa had a notebook with easy instructions of what to do for checking in/out, giving recommendations for various needs, and contact information if any problems came about.
All in all it was a nice trip and we HIGHLY recommend staying at this beach home. The owner was EXCELLENT, friendly, and easy to communicate/work with.
Hope this helps you plan your stay at this nice Beach Villa.
Thank you for your review. We appreciate you booking with us. With over 9400 properties in the area, we are honored and privileged to have been chosen. We know it’s not an easy choice and are pleased you appreciated all that comes with our unit and thank you for such a detailed review. I’m confident it will help other renters in selecting our unit. Thank you again and we hope you’ll stay with us again.
This place was absolutely beautiful. Great views of the ocean from the side. Large kitchen, pool, jacuzzi, and a fire pit. What more could you ask for.
Thank you for your review. So pleased you thought our property is beautiful and it offered all you needed. We look forward to a return trip. Thank you.
Best Owner Response Ever
I stayed at Richard's condo in N Myrtle Beach on a golf trip with a bunch of buddies. Richard provided everything needed for a relaxing day after a long day in the sun chasing that little white ball around the golf course. The entertainment areas had large tv's and very comfortable seating and the beds were very comfortable as well. Although we never cooked, I'm certain that there were plenty of pots and pans for those needing them.
I would have given Richard 5 stars but we did encounter a couple of minor issues when we first arrived (not cleanliness related) but once I notified Richard of the issues they were immediately addressed. Anytime I contacted him he responded immediately within minutes.
Over the years I have stayed at many different VRBO properties and I have never experienced such responsiveness from the owner.
We all enjoyed our stay at his condo and plan to return again next year.
Thank you for your review and kind words. I always said I was at your service and I believe, based on your review, that I accomplished this. I look forward to your return and seeking that fifth star. Thank you!
North Myrtle Beach was founded more than 30 years ago when the communities of Windy Hill, Crescent Beach, Ocean Drive, and Cherry Grove united and separated from Myrtle Beach! Each of these communities has its own appeal, as witnessed by generations of vacationers who return to our locale year after year. The NMB city has nearly 16,000 residents and is also home to many fine restaurants and family amusements. Of course, you can't describe North Myrtle Beach without mentioning the shag, a dance that originated here and continues to thrive in local dance clubs and at annual shag reunions. Contact the North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce-northmyrtlebeachchamber.com
The Ocean Drive section is the birthplace of the Shag, the official South Carolina State Dance, and boasts many dance clubs such as the Spanish Galleon, Fat Harold's Beach Club, Ducks, and Pirates Cove who cater to not only Shaggers, but anyone enjoying a fun evening of beach music, cold drinks and some pretty nice folks. Ocean Drive also has the areas only oceanfront amusement park. The Ocean Drive Pavillion and amusement park was open in the 1950s and 60s and then the amusement park shut down for many years to reopen in approximately 2006 in the same location at the end of Main Street right beside the "Horseshoe" where the annual Christmas tree is lit. A don't miss is Hoskins, a favorite dining choice since the early 50's!
The history of South Carolina's Grand Strand is among the most fascinating and colorful in America. Located in the northeastern corner of the state, most of the area lies within Horry County (pronounced "oh-ree"), and extends along the coast into what is known as the Waccamaw Neck in Georgetown County.
Native Americans, which included the Waccamaw and Winyah tribes, were the first inhabitants and lived in the region for thousands of years. They were joined in 1526 by explorers who arrived under the Spanish leadership of Lucas Vesquez de Aylion.
With the passing of time and the eventual settlement of Charles Town further south in 1670, the population and landscape of the Grand Strand slowly began to change. By 1721, the petition for a new parish, Prince George, Winyah, was granted and English colonists laid out plans for Georgetown, the state's third oldest city, in 1730.
While indigo was an early cash crop, it was the cultivation of rice on massive plantations along the region's fertile river low lands that made merchants and planters here among the richest in the colonies. When the American Revolution erupted, the area played a significant role by sending both Thomas Lynch Sr. and Thomas Lynch Jr. to sign the Declaration of Independence. The Marquis de Lafayette, who came from France to help in our cause against Great Britain, first landed in America just north of Georgetown. And General Francis Marion, the legendary Swamp Fox, led many guerrilla actions in the area throughout the conflict.
By 1840, Georgetown District produced nearly one-half of the total rice crop of the United States and became the largest rice-exporting port in the world. Wealthy planters and their families, seeking refuge from the hot and humid summers at nearby plantations, escaped to the breezy comforts of Pawleys Island and turned it into one of the first summer resorts on the Atlantic coast.
After the Civil War, the rice culture slowly faded and lumber and naval stores became the primary industries. Horry County, in particular, was isolated for many years by numerous rivers and swamps, and was often referred to as the "Independent Republic of Horry."
Around 1900, Burroughs and Collins Company, a timber turpentine firm with extensive beachfront holdings, began developing the resort potential of the Grand Strand by constructing a railroad to the beach from Conway. The company built the first hotel, the Seaside Inn, in 1901. In 1912, Chicago businessman Simeon B. Chapin purchased property and became a major influence in the area's development. And in the 1920s, a group of businessmen created an upscale oceanfront resort that included the sumptuous Ocean Forest Hotel and the area's first golf course, which later became Pine Lakes International.
While the Intracoastal Waterway opened in 1936, Myrtle Beach was incorporated in 1938, and Myrtle Beach Air Force Base was established during the 1940s, growth along the strand languished during the Depression and World War II. But fueled by the optimism and growing prosperity that engulfed America during the 1950s, Myrtle Beach and the Grand Strand soon became one of the most popular destinations in the Southeast for summertime vacationers.
The 1960s ushered in a golf boom along the coast, with the total number of courses exceeding 100. Since the 1970s, growth has continued at record pace – with new accommodations, attractions, residential and retail developments that have not only made the Myrtle Beach area a year-round tourism destination, but one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in the country.
