Sugar Mill Beach House is THE Premier Property along the coastline known as Sugar Mill Beach. Sugar Mill Beach House was completely renovated in 2008, and boasts all the luxuries of a new house. This gated property is truly Ocean Front, located directly on the sand and ocean (not across the street from the ocean as many properties listed as beach front are), and offers spectacular sun rises, relaxing sunsets, and true luxury beach front living!
Located in the middle of Oahu, Sugar Mill Beach House is the ideal home base for exploration of all of Oahu's treasures, and the perfect spot to return to after a day of exploring the Island. Kualoa Ranch, the location of many films and TV shows including the hit show LOST, is just near by. While filming LOST, Sugar Mill Beach House has been home to both actors and others associated with the popular show. But you don't need to be famous to enjoy Sugar Mill Beach House!

Our family had an incredible time at the property.
Every morning my 4 year old and I walked the beach looking for shells and watching little crabs skitter from the surf. My daughter also enjoyed the random roaming chicken, which she named "Monty."
During the day I would read on the Lanai whilst my husband and daughter played in the surf/boogie boarded in the sun.
Every evening my husband and I sat on the Lanai watching the moon rise- which was spectacular- even if there were a few clouds.
The property is as described in the listing- and it was comfortable for 3 adults and one child (although we could have accommodated many more people up to 8 adults).
Moreover the property has many different seating areas, so that no one ever feels "on top of each other"- there's always space to get away and relax without your fellow travel companions.
We would love to return to Hawaii with our family and friends...and rent the property again.
Tips for Fellow travelers:
1. The beach is rather rocky- so make sure you bring swim shoes for the family (there are "loaners" available at the property...but you don't want to waste precious beach time sorting the stack to find a pair that'll fit you).
2. Lots of kid beach toys...however, here are only a few "kid games" in the game cabinet in the house (and some are missing pieces)...so be sure to bring Uno/Go Fish etc. for the smaller set (especially for the hot part of the day if you want to keep them out of the sun...and entertain them w/o TV etc).
3. Feed the chicken...it's good karma and very entertaining.
4. Bring your "favorite must haves" with you (i.e. I love green tea....so I made sure to bring my stash from home- island prices are very high).
5. Don't forget the condiments when you shop at the store- and totally buy the Hawaiian BBQ sauce...it's amazing!
My family and I came back!!! We stayed at the Sugar Mill Beach house last October and loved it so much we came back again and to be honest we had another perfect vacation. This time we came back to run the Spartan race located directly across the street and we thought if we are going back for the race the only place we are willing to stay at is here. We had such a great time again that we are now planning on making this beach house our vacation spot every single year. You don't even need or even want to leave the house. The view alone makes you so relaxed and as usual Joey is always so helpful and accommodating that it just makes for a really wonderful trip. PLEASE do yourself a favor and don't look any further, there is no other place to stay while you are here on your wonderful vacation!
We stayed at sugar Mill on Oahu end of July and into August. It was perfect. The house was charming and well cared for. The beach directly behind the house was so awesome. We kayaked to Chinaman's Hat and hiked several other hikes on the island. Having the house to come home to and relax was the best. I miss my mornings watching the sunrise over the ocean with my coffee:)
Staying at the Sugar Mill on Oahu was a dream come true for our family! It is so amazing to stay in a beach house with the beach right out your door everyday! My kids haven't been around the beach much, so this was pure paradise! They loved playing in the water, looking for sand crabs, and kayaking to Chinaman's Hat. The house is two-story, so one of my favorite things was to just sit out on the top floor balcony and enjoy the ocean. The house is decorated so cute! The kitchen is huge and includes everything you need to cook. There is even a library in one of the rooms! The air conditioning units in each upstairs room were also wonderful. The location of the house is great because it's midway between Honolulu and the North Shore. Our family would definitely recommend the Sugar Mill and my kids are asking already when we can go back!
What a fantastic location on a beautiful island! This beach house is well equipped and nice and secluded if you are looking for a quieter, more private area to stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and were quite sad to have to leave when the time arrived. As others have said, if you are concerned about whether this location will live up to the 5 star reviews, question no more. It was a great place to stay (and I'm a very spoiled woman)!
-Gorgeous place to watch the sunrise on the upstairs deck
-Kayak out to the coral off shore and do some exploring right off the backyard
-The views: beach in the back, awesome green mountains in the front
-Secluded beach walking in the morning-we saw lots of different varieties of crabs, shells and coral to pick up
-No noisy people above, below or on either side!
-Beautiful stretch of green grass in the backyard to enjoy hanging with family, lounge chairs and plenty of deck seating
-Convenient outdoor shower area for rinsing sand off of everything
-Safety - locked gated entry and home alarm system
-Well equipped - beach stuff, towels, cooking, had it all.
-Air Conditioning in the rooms - we are from Texas and are very accustomed to air conditioning. We wanted to try and not use it, but the humidity is pretty high so we did enjoy and appreciate this at night.
There really aren't too many, but be aware of these two things:
This location is AWESOME if you are looking to get out away from heavily touristy Waikiki/Honolulu - just be aware you will spend a great deal of time driving to go see the sights. Traffic can be a bit of a pain, especially if like us you live in a congested area and hoped to get away from that. Still, we wouldn't have chosen another place to stay on this island! Second: There is no dishwasher. Our family is pretty health conscious and we do a lot of cooking while on vacation to avoid gaining that dreaded vacation weight. It's not a deal breaker and if you don't plan to spend time in the kitchen, it's probably not a big deal to you. We just wished there had been a dishwasher!
Recommendations: We arrived at Hanauma bay at 8:30 a.m. on a Thursday morning and the lot was already FULL. Went back on a Monday and arrived before 7 and made it in. It really is important to get there early if you don't want to be turned away & yes if you want to snorkel it's a MUST SEE. Zipline at climbworks: great location, views and awesome staff. Kayak to the hat & hike it! ENJOY!
We were thrilled with this house right on the white sandy beach! It was GREAT!!! Grandma and Grandpa loved the long deck on the second level and feeding the chicken that would visit every morning. My husband and I loved the sound of the ocean through the night and the proximity to the North Shore activities and to Honolulu. Our teenagers loved body surfing and the two kayaks provided by the owner, which they used to paddle out to an island! This house had it all! We had no complaints! Hawaii is beautiful!!!
We are located in front of Kualoa Ranch.
We are 20 minutes south of the Polynesian Cultural Center.
