Bar Harbor Cottage Rental Photos and Description

3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, 1outdoor shower

We live in a charming 19th century farm house on the coast of Maine. We have a view of the water from the front of the house where you can see lobster boats motoring by. Our back yard is rich with apple trees, blueberry bushes, and blackberry brambles. In the house there are three bedrooms, including a fully renovated master bedroom, a full bathroom upstairs with a great claw-foot tub, a fully renovated downstairs bathroom which includes a very large, mosaic tiled shower with two shower heads and a door leading to a fieldstone and cedar outdoor shower, a beautifully renovated kitchen including a built in breakfast booth, and cozy sitting area, all stainless steel appliances and three full walls of windows looking out to the water, side yard and back yard and patio, dining room, two living rooms-one facing the water side of the house, and one facing the backyard, and a gorgeous fieldstone patio with outdoor grilling dining and a cozy bistro nook.

Beautiful home on a very quiet country road. Short drive to town and Acadia NP.

We chose this home to hold our first family reunion---8 adults and a baby. We all love to cook and the big kitchen was well used. The outside shower was the most popular as we had wonderful August weather. House is in great condition and well-appointed. Loved picking herbs and blueberries from the back yard and playing frisbee and wiffle baseball on the front lawn. With three bedrooms, our fourth couple used the blow-up airbed downstairs in the living room. If I could suggest any changes---make at least two of the three couches pull-out beds, provide more cooking utensils (i.e. grater, zester, etc), and try and re-instate the ability to use the beach right across the street. All in all we had a wonderful week and the home was a peaceful, relaxing, comfortable place to be. Very clean. The property manager was very responsive to our questions and even arranged for a local friend to come and take a group photo for us one morning!! We loved the island and would definitely return!

Very nice property.

  • 4 of 5

The location is great! Only a short drive to the town of Bar Harbor, and a closer drive to the entrance of Acadia National Park. The house is unique and charming. The gardens in the back of the house are so pretty and well maintained. There is plenty of room for relaxing in different areas of the house.

The shower is amazing. The tile and stone work is beautiful! The kitchen is really nice. The ceilings and the woodwork is beautiful. Very private, and It really is charming.

However, there were very few pots and pans that were in good shape. Utensils were at a minimum also. That was disappointing. The mattresses on the beds were not very comfortable either.

The house is unique. You can see the water from the driveway, but the owners of the cottages across the street do not allow the renters to go on their property. The house does have such a beautiful patio that it was so relaxing to be outside in the gardens of lavender and other beautiful flowering plants.

We enjoyed our stay very much. We loved Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Just beautiful!!

Very nice house just needs air conditioning.

  • 4 of 5

Let me start by saying this is not a bashing review. If the owner reads this think about getting some A/C for the 2nd floor. We knew the house didn't have A/C before going but the Temps reached upper 80's durung the day and it was unbearable to sleep at night. Besides that the house was very nice. My favorite feature was the outside shower. Quick ride to Bar Habour and Acadia Park.

Great location, lovely cottage

  • 4 of 5

The location of the cottage is perfect for exploring all that Bar Harbor and Acadia have to offer, but far enough away from the "busyness" of town to be a quiet respite after a day of adventures. The cottage itself is quirky and lovely, with nice amenities. There is a good combination of spaces for family gatherings as well as rooms and nooks for moments of privacy. The property manager was responsive to our needs, and check-in and check-out were easy. I would definitely recommend this property to others who are visiting this area.

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

Great place to stay. Plenty of space for six people who were visiting family from England. Loved all the garden space, perfect for relaxing. Good location to Bar Harbor and Arcadia but far enough out to avoid all the hustle and bustle. Definitely would stay here again!

Pristine Property with many hidden gems

  • 5 of 5

We loved this property. It is set up to allow lots of great community spaces as well as get away nooks in and outside the home. Great launching point to Acadia as well. A definite must and we plan to return (only hope that this beautiful property will be available!).

Bar Harbor Maine is located on Mount Desert Island which is the home to Acadia National Park. This is one of the most beautiful and popular spots in the whole country. People visit Bar Harbor from all over the world and though the village can be quite crowded in the month of August, our house is located 5 miles down the road and feels quite serene even in the busiest months. For further information on the Park, the Internet has lots of information. Activities in and around the park include hiking, biking, swimming, sailing and kayaking, **Whale Watching** (lots of whales in the summer) , rock climbing, canoeing, bird watching and lots more!

Yellow Room - 1 queen , you have to pass through master to access upstairs bathroom
  • This is an old and funky house (built 1856) and as such it has some quirks. One quirk is that guests in the yellow room have to pass through the master to access the upstairs bathroom. However, access to downstairs bathroom does not require passing through another bedroom. Master bedroom is very large and can sleep a family of four (two in queen bed and two in twin trundle). There is also a port-a-crib in the closet and probably enough left over room for an inflatable mattress. It is the biggest bedroom in the house. The laundry area is in the master bedroom as well. Both the master and the guest bedroom have access to the upstairs bathroom without passing through another bedroom. WE NO LONGER HAVE A YURT ON OUR PROPERTY.
