Liked: Check-in, location, listing accuracy
Disliked: Cleanliness, communication
Cute place but with allergy triggers and poor communication
We rented this lovely house for my wife’s 50th birthday. She typically makes the arrangements for our stays and we have maintained a 5-star rating as guests for about a decade now. We found this visit quaint and charming. With a few caveats, we would recommend this house to anyone wanting to get away and to get to know some of the less-visited areas of northern France. We appreciated the small-town charm of the home and region, as well as the patio.
First caveat: Be allergy and asthma aware. We know to be prepared in quaint homes such as this one with Albuterol and Zyrtec. However, we still found the living room area virtually uninhabitable. We purchased some cleanser to cut down the mold spores but stayed outside as much as we could—and the patio area was perfect for this!
What we didn’t expect, however, was to have a layer of dust on the bedroom duvet. When our oldest child (who has asthma and allergies) reached for the duvet to make his bed (they were not made), a visible plume of dust erupted, putting him into a coughing and sneezing fit.
Second caveat: Be sure to get in writing the check out plan from the landlord. We did not have an understanding what was expected.
When we left, we separated the recycling. We stripped the beds and picked up. We loaded and ran the dishwasher. We did leave quite a bit of food behind, both because the trash was full and because it seemed a waste to discard. To our surprise we got a angry email about "trashing the place"?
