The cottage is very well equipped and very comfortable. Newly refurbished with furnishings selected and imported from Bali. Perfect for a family of four or a vacationing couple.
Great location! .5 miles to Hana town (stores and restaurants) and 1.5 miles to the pristine beach of Hamoa. Haleakala National Park, 10 miles away--take a hike up through the bamboo forest or a swim in the famous 'seven pools'.
The cottage is close to hiking areas, natural pools and waterfalls, or you can simply enjoy the tranquility of the cottage on the screened lanai. Very private, surrounded by mango, papaya, banana, and tropical flowers. The cottage is well maintained by the owners. You will certainly enjoy this private getaway, far from the bustle of Waikiki.
Otto and Wendy were born in California and relocated to Hana over 30 years ago when they decided to start a family. They are now the proud parents of two young girls who grew up in beautiful Hana, Maui.
They started a construction business which has become well respected throughout the community. They are well known for the quality of their work as well as their warm personalities.
After completely remodeling two of their cottages and transforming them into secluded island vacation rentals their services are now directed towards you, their guests. Through friends and extended family in Hana, Otto and Wendy are happy to help you find whatever experience you might be looking for.
By helping create a relaxing and enjoyable stay for you in Hana, they are constantly reminded of how lucky they are to live in this true paradise.

Optimal location but still provides lots of privacy. You can run into town to pick something up for dinner (2 minute drive north) or take a quick swim at world renowned Hamoa beach (2 minute drive south).
The screened in patio will keep all unwanted bugs out and let you enjoy your morning coffee outside! Also, the washer and dryer on site is perfect for longer stays.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cottage located in a beautiful and tranquil setting conveniently located off the Hana highway. It is very comfortable and well equipped. Excellent location to see all of the sites in Hana.
My family of 4 stayed at the cottage for 3 nights and had a blast! The property is in a good location, close to town and is very private. The home was clean, comfortable and made a great resting place during the hotter part of the day. We spent each morning and evening swimming in the shore break at Koki beach and then lunch/siesta at the cottage. Would stay again if we come back to Hana.
I was reluctant to write this review, as I don't want too many people finding out about my favorite place on earth. Hale Nanea is owned by the Horens, who are so awesome and the perfect hosts. We have been staying here for years and are always greeted with gorgeous flowers, banana bread, fruit and a wonderful warm welcome. Hale Nanea is secluded and Immaculate. It has everything you could want or need. A full kitchen, so you are really at home but. you are very close to so many beautiful places to visit! Beaches - white, red, black sand. Waves or snorkeling. A beautiful hike in the Bamboo Forest. And there are some secret places, too! Hana is the most authentic place in the Hawaiian Islands to visit. You feel like you are in the Wild West (no big high rises!) but at the same time all the comforts of home. A great place to read, relax, play, explore and not see many other tourists. Hana is our favorite place on earth, and Hale Nanea (Paradise Cottages) is THE place to stay to make your time in Hana perfect. (Purchase groceries in Paia on your way to Hana.)
I instantly fell in Love with this place. It was charming, clean and comfortable! I will stay for more days next time and do some more exploring and relaxing. Thank you for such a fantastic vacation home.
We stayed here just one night to make the trip from Kihei to Hana more relaxing. What a wonderful stay. The cottage was dressed impeccably for us with a flower arrangement and fresh fruit on the table. It is so peaceful and comfortable here, the screened-in porch was great for reading while in view of the ocean. The food at the Hana Ranch Restaurant was excellent though a little on the pricey side. We hear that the Thai restaurant in town has very good food, but we missed the lunch hour on both days.
What a lovely place to stay: close to everything, quiet (except from two load roasters who love to sing EARLY in the morning), beautiful view, welcoming, etc. We recommend it 100%!
