About Jane Paul

I am a retired French teacher who was born and spent most of my

childhood years in Montreal, Canada except for 5 years in Orange Park,

Florida where my father was a psychologist at the Yerkes chimpanzee

lab and a year on scholarship at a university in Neuchatel,

Switzerland. When I returned to Montreal I met my husband (on a blind

date ) at McGill University where I was an undergrad student and my

husband was a medical student. When we graduated he returned to Penna,

his home state, for his internship. After that his residency training

took us to Texas, Maryland, London, England and Wisconsin. During this

time we had two sons and later adopted a daughter and took in foster

daughters whom we wanted to adopt but the mothers just wanted to hold

on to them loosely. In 1989 my husband’s friend, from undergrad years

at Gettysburg College, purchased Nisbet Plantation on Nevis and we

started buying land next door. We ended up with 4 acres on the ocean

and now that we are retired we live in our own villa for 5 winter

months and rent CORAL REEF VILLA.I have spent every summer of my life

in Nova Scotia and only stay in Penna spring and fall for doctor

appointments, and other essential visits. I am proud to be a

Canadian citizen as well as an American citizen .

Jane Paul purchased this cottage in 1985

Guestbook comments from the owner

Your cabin is beautiful and I love the furniture. We found it so nice to come home after a long day of sightseeing and boy did we sightsee!

We saw a male pheasant and we got some nice pictures of a deer and the chipmunk here.

The master bedroom is amazing. One of my dream rooms!

Thank you for the phone calls and Doreen was wonderful. Everyone in Nova Scotia is so friendly no matter where we went it felt like home.

Very peaceful, enjoyable stay;)

  • 5 of 5

Mrs. Jane and her entire property- from the driveway to the cove- where all so nice and inviting. The cottage was cozy and had everything we needed. The views breathtaking. We kayaked 4-6 miles nearly everyday we were there, got close to seals and explored the surrounding islands, rivers, towns; all by kayak! Marvelous get away;)

Lots of character - lots of places to sit

  • 4 of 5

Jane had lots of local knowledge and was willing to share.

I really enjoyed waking up to the cove every morning - watching the sun come up on the water from my pillow.

It was nice and central to everything we wanted to see. Lunenberg, Halifax, Chester, Mahone Bay, Oak Island, all within an hour or less. The pace was very vacation-like -- not a marathon. We had lovely weather - bright and clear.

There was lots to see right around the place - deer, herons, pheasants, osprey - we looked for crabs and fish. There were roses, raspberries, ferns, grapevines. I enjoyed several walks. Others enjoyed swimming in the salt water and kayaking.

Excellent first time experience in Nova Scotia!

  • 5 of 5

My family recently spent a week at the Sandy Cove Cottage in Chester. It was our first family trip to Nova Scotia from our Ontario home. We loved the cottage it was a great amount of space for our family of four. We loved sitting out front of the cottage for breakfast while taking in ocean views. The private dock was great for relaxing and our catch and release crab fishing adventure with the kids loved. The private beach just a short walk away was great for swimming and exploring the ocean for treasures. It was in a great location for day trips to Chester, Halifax, Mahone Bay and Lunenburg. Had a great time and would love to return again soon.

Perfectly as Advertised

  • 5 of 5

The owner is very kind, and maintains the property beautifully. There are several walks to areas on the Cove. The water is right out the door, and is an amazing view from the master bedroom, which has two ceiling to floor windows.

I would recommend this as a family place, with lots to do in the area. From a quiet space in the cottage, little villages are a short ride away.

It is a rental cottage on the cove. Peaceful, private, wonderful kayak for two.

  • 5 of 5

We arrived on Canada Day ( stores were closed)and Kathy ( the care taker) asked if she could buy groceries.😀? The owners gave us perfect directions to cottage. It is off the main road. We loved Chester and the restaurants Jane and Kathy recommended. We did take the usual tourists day trips but to be honest we preferred sitting in chairs with glass of wine and just relax and we loved to kayak in morning. Enjoyed
