About Sean Butson
My wife and I grew up in Texas and Maryland, respectively, but we both learned to ski at young ages. We now live in Maryland, but are both outdoor enthusiasts and have fallen in love with the Colorado mountains due to the year-round outdoor activities. Whether it's skiing at 7 world class mountains, hiking the continental divide, sailing on Lake Dillon, golfing at 5 exceptional courses, or biking around the lake, Summit County, Colorado has it all. We spend as much time as we can at our mountain lodge, but enjoy making memories for others when we can't be there.
Sean Butson purchased this House in 2006
Why Sean Butson chose Dillon
While vacationing in Colorado in 2006, we casually looked at houses one day. We were not in the market to buy a home at that time, but wanted to someday and thought it would be a good time to start getting familiar with local real estate. Once we saw the view from the great room deck, however, we were hooked. My wife and I have traveled all over the world together and I can tell you that we have never seen a view like the one of Lake Dillon with the Ten Mile Range in the background. We knew right then and there that this would be our mountain lodge for many years.

Beautiful home, perfect for the holidays
The owners were excellent to work with on the rental! The home was in a perfect location for our skiers and was well equipped for our vacation week. They even had it decorated for the holidays!
Like home, only better!
We had a wonderful week at this home with our extended family, ages 6 months to 60! The bedroom and common spaces allowed for plenty of together time and ability to escape from the crowd if needed. My granddaughters thought it was set up just for them, with a Jack-and-Jill bathroom connecting with their parents’ room and lots of toys ready for them right in their bedroom! The kitchen was extremely well stocked which we appreciated because we cooked most of the meals ourselves, due to the range of ages and the logistics of getting our crowd of 13 (including 2 infants) out to a restaurant.
The location is fantastic!! We loved the view of Lake Dillon and enjoyed it every moment of the day and evening. We frequently walked down to the marina and the waterfront park complete with a large playground. We rented a boat on the lake, paddle boards, and a canoe, and went for many hikes. (Everyone needs to walk to Sapphire Point!) The grocery store and other shops were very convenient but we still had peaceful surroundings.
Sean was extremely responsive and helpful. They even had a nice Pack-and-Play and a high chair ready for our use. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is due to a broken window that we discovered the day after we arrived, believing it to have already been there. Dealing with that puts a slight damper on our week, but I do not hesitate to HIGHLY recommend the property and the owner.
We are very happy that Laura M. had a great time at our lodge, but sorry that there was a problem with the kitchen window. Unfortunately, it was broken during her stay, but fortunately she had purchased the damage protection insurance, which covered the cost of the entire repair so there was no additional cost to her. In renting our lodge to guests for the last 12 years, this is only the second time there has been any damage to our residence and is the first review that wasn't 5 stars. Please know that we work very hard to make our guests as happy as possible and only file a damage claim if absolutely necessary. Thank you, Sean Butson
What's not to like
We really enjoyed our stay. The location is close to the City Market Plaza but feels quite private. The view is fine. The hot tub was perfect.
There was more than enough space for our party of 7 (two couples), with one couple staying in the upstairs master with a steam shower and the other couple staying in the separate wing. The house was well equipped and the pantry was reasonably full. We had dinner and breakfast at the house frequently and could cook and seat 7 without breaking stride.
In short, the house was as pictured but better in many small ways that over all hugely enhanced our stay.
Stunning Views, Beautiful Home
The lodge was as advertised and the views are more spectacular in person. Very relaxing setting, would return in a heartbeat.
Everything meet and exceeding expectations
Wonderful Dillon Home
Our visit to Dillon was wonderful! This home is perfectly located for an easy walk to the marina/amphitheater and restaurants. Great views beautiful home. The best part for us was how much our little ones enjoyed it. Lots of toys and room to run around! Sean was easy to work with and very responsive.
The lodge is located on Gold Run Circle in Dillon, which runs along Lake Dillon and meets the bike path that goes around the lake. Our home is just a short walk to the Dillon Marina, playground, amphitheater, and restaurants. While there are other homes with lake and mountains views, the vast majority of them are above a very loud, busy highway that you have to cross to get to the lake. There is no stop sign or stoplight, so it isn't safe to walk. To the contrary, our home is on a quiet circle that connects to the bike path around the lake, so you can walk to things much more safely.
