Overview

Portland and Casco Bay Area Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Well equipped 2+ bedrooms, 1.5 baths, sleeps 6

Located on Peaks Island, Maine, the Treehouse is the perfect place to get away from it all. Hop (or drive) on the Casco Bay Line Ferry from the famed Old Port of Portland, Maine and minutes later you will be stepping onto Peaks Island. The Treehouse is a short walk from the ferry dock, located in a quiet part of town. It is close to everything, but offers a place of restful solitude where the breezes blow through the maples & oaks the house was named for. The Treehouse is a fun and informal house with two plus bedrooms, two additional futon sofas, a bath and a half, and all the amenities you could wish for: VCR, DVD, Cable TV, Wireless Internet, W&D, DW, charcoal grill, an outside deck and fenced in yard. We invite you to bring your well behaved dog/cat (with deposit). Available by the week during summer, by the day ( 3-day min.) or week fall & spring, winter by special arrangement.

No car necessary!: The Treehouse is located about a half-mile from the ferry dock on Peaks Island. Since it is within easy walking distance of the ferry, there is no need to bring a car over unless you wish to. There is a parking garage located at the ferry dock in Portland, where you may leave your car. The grocery store, restaurants, beaches, library, indeed all of the island, are easy to walk to - or you can rent bicycles on the island.

About Steve Desterhaft

I spent the first 18 summers of my life on Little Diamond Island. As an adult, I can especially appreciate the conveniences offered by Peaks Island.

Why Steve Desterhaft chose Portland and Casco Bay Area

It's a perfect distance from the village - not too close to the weekend hustle and bustle, but not too far away from a quick run to the store, restaurants, stores, beach, fishing or ferry.

Great accommodations

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed staying at the treehouse. My wife and 3 young children all slept comfortably. Steve was a pleasure to work with. The house was exactly as described and is very conveniently located close to down front and the ferry terminal.

Perfect family stay

  • 5 of 5

Loved the Treehouse. Peaks was a beautiful place and the treehouse was quiet and private, while still being close to everything. There was more than enough room for the four of us (family with 2 young kids). Just FYI, all ferries prices are round trip, so for us it would've been cheaper to drive over, though a bike adventure was so much fun here.

Fabulous break from the Southern heat!

  • 5 of 5

We enoyed a wonderful week on Peaks Island. The Treehouse was a perfect fit for our family of four (2 adults, a 7 year old and a 3 year old). It's location was ideal: a short walk to "town" but still at the end of a quiet, shaded street. Lots of beautiful trees and shade for the back yard and deck. Being from New Orleans, we are used to being shut up inside with full A/C in August. What a treat to have the windows open everyday to enjoy the fresh, cool air. We really appreciated how well stocked the house was and the all the helpful info Steve provided about the house and the Island. It was clean and well maintained. We definitely hope to make Peaks and the Treehouse a frequent vacation stay!

Cozy, comfortable retreat convenient to everything

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a wonderful week staying at The Treehouse. The house is very quiet, but a short walk or bike ride to wonderful beaches, the center of town, and the elementary school playground. We hope to be back!

Peaks first-timers

  • 5 of 5

Cute cottage in a very convenient location to explore Peaks and the rest of Portland. The photos are quite accurate, and we had everything we needed on hand. Fenced-in yard was perfect for our two small dogs. Overall, a relaxing and memorable week spent in a pretty special place!
