Guest Book Comments: Richard, I just wanted to tell you that we had a wonderful time at your cabin. I was a little skeptical about renting a place we had never seen from someone we had never met, particularly with having to pay the full cost so far in advance. I am glad that I took the chance because the cabin and the location were all that I hoped for. We had a great time in the game room and really enjoyed the outdoor hot but. Actually, the cabin and surroundings were perfect and exactly as advertised. I hope to rent from you again next year. :)

We enjoyed our time in the mountains and at the cabin. It is very nice indeed!

Guest Book Comments: Mr. Singer,

I had to email to tell you how much my husband and I enjoyed our stay at your wonderful home!!! We were very impressed with the accommodations. The cabin was awesome and the surroundings were breathtaking! The time provided us with some much needed rest and relaxation. We are considering a return visit March 21st – 23rd, 2008. I see that the cabin is available during this time and I’d like to know what the cost would be. Thanks again so very much!

Just wanted to let you know we thought the cabin was great!! We really enjoyed the game room. Hope we can use it again sometime.

Thanks again!

Hi Richard,

We returned yesterday from a most wonderful stay in the NC mountains....perfect weather, glorious fall colors, not much traffic anywhere.....loved it! Drove back via the Smokies....I've never seen such RED before....so many sugar maples at their peak....what a treat! The drought scared us into thinking there wouldn't be any color ANY where, so we were thrilled!

Guest Book Comments: Richard, we had a great time at the cabin, very nice weather and the cabin was nice as promised. Had no problems at all, other than it took some time to figure out the fireplace….We really enjoyed the fact that it was “off the beaten path” and up a solitary winding mountain road after a scenic drive.

Just wanted to tell you want a wonderful time we had at your cabin this past weekend. It truly lived up to my expectations and beyond!!

Pleasant Surprise!

  • 5 of 5

We found the cabin to be much nicer that what we expected. Everything was very clean and the bed in the master bedroom had a feather bed feel to it. Very nice touch. The hot tub on the private deck was also a nice extra. Location is close to downtown Hendersonville, as well as, Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. Easy to reach from I-26! Certainly will go back and would not hestiate to recommned this cabin to anyone looking for a vacation, or just a short getaway. Just can't say enough good things about it.

Great stay!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was great! I would recommend you arrive in the daylight, as arriving at night was a bit uneasy. The drive up the gravel road is tricky in the dark! Overall great experience. Enjoyed the hot tub, the setting, being able to relax and get away, all was just what I needed. I hope to stay again, and bring family next time.

Beautiful cabin with all amenities you need!! Loved the drive up the mountain!

  • 5 of 5

I was overly impressed with how well the kitchen was stocked! We like to cook most our own meals and this made it very easy for us to do so. Richard was easy to get in contact with when needed and replied almost immediately. The game room was a hit! Overall we had an amazing week at Black "Beary" Cabin!! Thank you Richard and family!

Great mountain retreat!

  • 4 of 5

Our family of six spent an extended weekend in the mountains. We wanted to get away while being close enough to climb Chimney Rock one day and shop/visit Asheville and the Arboretum. This cabin was great. Clean, well-furnished, and as listed. The hot tub was a welcome rest after hiking. Thanks for a terrific weekend. Highly recommended.

Owner's Response: Yes, we have Lady Bugs. We spray for them but it is impossible to kill all of them. I gave this renter an explanation and a rebate, but it fell on deaf ears. As the owner of four rentals, I do my best for every renter and will continue to do so. Please read all other reviews. Richard Singer *Please read article below. Invasion of the Lady Beetles  Compiled by Wendi Hartup Area Natural Resources Extension Agent Forsyth and Stokes County Cooperative Extension It’s that time of year when all types of creatures begin to seek shelter; sometimes in our homes. Not all of these creatures are interested in harming our building structure; they’re just looking shelter to over winter. One of those creatures is a certain species of lady beetle.   Most people know that lady beetles, also called ladybugs, eat aphids. Aphids and other soft-bodied insects feed on plants from our landscapes, meadows, a variety of trees and even field crops. In the early 1900s and again in the 1960s-1980s Asian multi-colored lady beetles were imported and released to help control tree-feeding aphids. The reasoning behind this was native lady beetles were not as effective in controlling tree-feeding aphids because so many of our ornamental and fruit trees were from other areas of the world. Now the Asian lady beetle thrives in many parts of North America. During spring and summer, each Asian multi-colored lady beetle will consume over 300 aphids per day of more than 50 species of aphids. This greatly reduces the need for pesticide use and has benefited the pecan industry by nearly eliminating pecan aphids.
