Welcome! Come stay with us at our charming cabin and enjoy some good old Southern Appalachian hospitality. Situated on two private acres north of Asheville and less than 10 minutes from downtown Asheville.
As its largest city, along with its central location in the southern Appalachian mountains, Asheville has become the nerve center of the area simply known as 'WNC' (Western North Carolina). Set in the beautiful French Broad Valley, which flows northwest to the Mississippi basin, Asheville is surrounded by the highest mountains in eastern America, some of the oldest in the world.
The temperate climate enjoys four distinct seasons, with comfortable summers, mild winters, early spring and panoramic fall colors. The geographic features, combined with the climate, allows the area an abundance of outdoor activities from hiking to fishing to skiing and golf. A vibrant downtown Asheville offers a cultural diversity hard to find anywhere else in the US. Asheville attracts internationally known artists in every genre. Shops, antiques, artist's studios and restaurants, from local grills to fine dining, are all a part of what makes Asheville unique.
So...just here for a few days or for a little while longer? Remember, a whole lot of nothing to do is fine and relaxing too! Almost anything you would want to do is here or nearby. Situated between the Great Smokie Mountains and the Blue Ridge, Asheville makes a great home base for all of your adventures. From Boone to Brasstown, Mt. Pisgah to Mt. Mitchell, you can get there from Abner's Cabin.
Come stay with us and see why we think our southern mountains are one of the most beautiful places in the country to visit.

About Leslie Osborne
Moving to the Western NC Mountains from Charlotte NC back in 1990 was a new venture for my family. Having lived here for nearly 30 years now and falling in love with the area and its people, it lends me to call Asheville my home. Being in real state sales, I get to see so many beautiful properties in the greater Asheville area so I am grateful to have an older cabin to offer folks to rent that is reminiscent of the cabins I stayed in during my youth across Western North Carolina.
Leslie Osborne purchased this Cabin in 2004
Why Leslie Osborne chose Woodfin
Abner Gwaltney built the cabin in 1928 for his wife and children. Since then, the cabin has passed through several generations of families until my parents purchased the home as their summer getaway from the heat of the lowlands of NC. I purchased the cabin in 2004 when my parents decided they could no longer make the trip to Asheville. By that time, I had moved to Asheville and decided to keep the cabin available for family memebers to use. In 2008 I decided to open the cabin to the public because of its great location to downtown Asheville.
What makes this Cabin unique
The gorgeous views of the mountains and the surrounding horse farms. Accessibility is the greatest asset. Privacy and the rural setting that lends to a quiet and peaceful stay. Please read the reviews!!!

Cozy, quaint cabin!
The cabin is quaint & cozy and out of the hustle & bustle, yet conveniently close to downtown Asheville and surrounding areas. We drove about 45 minutes to Pisgah National Forest for amazing hiking. We found the cabin clean and nicely furnished. Towels, dishes, linens are all included. The property is beautiful with lovely views. As dog owners, we appreciated that it was pet friendly. We were also pleased to find no pet odors and that previous renters did a good job of cleaning up the yard after their pets. We had a great time visiting and would definitely come back to Abner’s Cabin.
Great little cabin with a wonderful view. My dog enjoyed the openess around the cabin
Enjoyed my stay, great location to nearby sites. We toured The Biltmore and enjoyed the close ride there and back. Would definitely stay again.
Great views, cozy cabin
My husband and I enjoyed the cabin and property as did our dogs. Great views with wonderful accommodations. The cabin is off the beaten path but located close enough to Asheville, the Biltmore, and the BR Prkwy. We will visit again!
Wonderful stay at Abner's Cabin
We had a wonderful stay in the cabin. Was very close to everywhere we planned to go yet you feel like you are away from the city. Very appreciative that the cabin was pet friendly as well. The views from the cabin were nice and we saw deer two days in a row when returning in the evening. Owner was easy to work with and I would recommend this property.
We loved staying at this cozy cabin!
The cabin was super cute and cozy! It was easy to get to and the direction were very clear about how to access the keys to get inside. It was the perfect getaway!
Wonderful cabin close to town but quiet retreat
Cabin was roomy . Lovely views of horse farms and mountains ! Gas fireplace not working , so that was disappointing as it was in the mid 40s at night and we really looked forward to a fire. Agent tried to get it fixed to no avail. Kitchen was well stocked with utensils, etc, and very clean. Close to Asheville and Weaverville. Check out Blue Ridge Pizza and Brewery in Weaverville. Pet friendly! Nice back deck with awesome views.
Nearby attractions are the Biltmore Estate and Biltmore Village, the BlueRidge Parkway, National Forests, fantastic local breweries and restaurants, the GrovePark Inn and Spa, the Center for Retired Living, beautiful waterfalls and more!!! We have horses located just beside the property for your viewing pleasure. Local wildlife roam in the yard almost daily. Please say hello to Gertrude - our lone wild turkey. You are in a prime area for native flowers in the Spring, fire flies in Summer, leaf looking in the Fall and sledding in the Winter (provided we have snow!)
