Overview

Asheville Area Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Sofa bed, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-6)

Welcome! Come stay with us at our charming cabin and enjoy some good old Southern Appalachian hospitality. Situated on two private acres north of Asheville and less than 10 minutes from downtown Asheville.

As its largest city, along with its central location in the southern Appalachian mountains, Asheville has become the nerve center of the area simply known as 'WNC' (Western North Carolina). Set in the beautiful French Broad Valley, which flows northwest to the Mississippi basin, Asheville is surrounded by the highest mountains in eastern America, some of the oldest in the world.

The temperate climate enjoys four distinct seasons, with comfortable summers, mild winters, early spring and panoramic fall colors. The geographic features, combined with the climate, allows the area an abundance of outdoor activities from hiking to fishing to skiing and golf. A vibrant downtown Asheville offers a cultural diversity hard to find anywhere else in the US. Asheville attracts internationally known artists and is home to artists of world renown in every genre. Shops, antiques, artist's studios and restaurants, from local grills to fine dining, are all a part of what makes Asheville unique.

So...just here for a few days or for a little while longer? Remember, a whole lot of nothing to do is fine and relaxing too! Almost anything you would want to do is here or nearby (ok, there's no ocean, check out VRBO for that, y'know?). Situated between the Smokies and the Blue Ridge, Asheville makes a great home base. From Boone to Brasstown, Mt. Pisgah to Mt. Mitchell, you can get there from Abner's Cabin.

Come stay with us and see why we think our southern mountains are one of the most beautiful places in the country to visit.

About Leslie Osborne

Moving to the Western NC Mountains from Charlotte NC back in 1990 was a new venture for my family. Having lived in the area and falling in love with it, lends me to call Asheville my home. Being in sales, I get to see so many beautiful properties in the greater Asheville area and I am grateful to have an older cabin to offer folks to rent that is reminescent of the cabins I stayed in during my youth at summer camps across Western North Carolina.

Leslie Osborne purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Leslie Osborne chose Asheville Area

Abner Gwaltney built the cabin in 1928 for his wife and children. Since then, the cabin has passed through several generations of families until my parents purchased the home as their summer getaway from the heat of the lowlands of NC. I purchased the cabin in 2004 when my parents decided they could no longer make the trip to Asheville. By that time, I had moved to Asheville and decided to keep the cabin available for family memebers to use. In 2008 I decided to open the cabin to the public because of its great location to downtown Asheville.

What makes this cabin unique

Accessabilty is the greatest asset. Privacy and the rural setting that lends to a quiet and peaceful stay. Please read the reviews!!!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Once again we have had a wonderful time. Last time, were here in the fall, and enjoyed the cool air and beautiful fall foliage. And this time when we drove up, we saw your lovely hostas and lacy blue hydrangea. They were so vibrant and natural. Thanks once again for letting us enjoy the area by staying at Abner's Cabin. It very much makes us feel at home. We are branching out more and more to explore the area every time we come. P.S. we loved watching the wild turkeys and their babies from the front porch.

Amazing views! Great property.

We had a great time at this cabin for the week. My daughters loved being outside and we all enjoyed the home. The views from the back are truly amazing. Very accommodating and helpful with any questions we had. Will definitely be back.

Very Nice!

This was the perfect location for us. Close enough to Asheville to enjoy all that the city has to offer, yet a nice taste of the countryside as well. Clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed the fire pit at night.

perfect getaway at Abner's cabin outside Asheville, N. C.

  • 5 of 5

Clean, comfortable, affordable cabin met all our needs and exceeded expectations. Quiet location was a respite from the city but within an easy drive to all our destinations. Easy highway access and accessibility were added benefits as were the surprise goodies in the fridge. Local restaurants were delightful. We had a small unexpected issue and owner was wonderful at assisting in resolving it.

We look forward to returning!

Beautiful property, quaint & affordable

  • 4 of 5

Leslie was a great host & we had a wonderful time. My only complaint is that the sleeper sofa was a little uncomfortable (like most sleeper sofas are) other than that everything was great. About 12 minutes to downtown & about 6 minutes away from Ingles. Beautiful view of the mountains & great sunsets, added bonus is that dogs are welcome.

Awesome!

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed for a few nights at the beginning of April to explore Asheville and we could not have been more pleased with this cabin! We were so impressed. The cabin had everything we needed and more! The beds were so comfortable and we really enjoyed sitting at the kitchen table and having our coffee with the wonderful view! Even though it was a little chilly and windy to enjoy the brand new deck, we look forward to returning and enjoying it. The cabin was clean and we have nothing negative to say about this place!

Owner's Response: Michele, Thank you for your kind words! We really take pride in our little cabin and are so pleased with the number of folks that return year after year. We just added the back deck to enjoy those awesome views and have had tons of compliments from travelers. We hope to host you again in the future! Leslie and Steve

We absolutely loved the cabin. Having lived in a house built by my great grandfather in 1907, this brings back great memories. The dog especially loved the yard and not having to be leashed. It was near everything we needed and we even got to see some snow flurries! I would definitely stay here again.
