Apartment on the second floor of a beautiful Florentine palace. Privileged view of the dome of Brunelleschi, that you can almost touch. The wooden beams in the ceiling make the atmosphere welcoming. Ideal starting point for discovering the city of Florence. From the cathedral square is within easy walking distance of the main attractions of the city, starting with the baptistery and the new library of the Oblates. Of the four historic districts that face every year in the tournament's historic Florentine soccer, we belong to the Greens of San Giovanni.
It was the house of my family. But it is also the best place to experience the city of Florence from the inside. I'm sure my guests will enjoy their stay.
Niccolo's apartment is 50 m from the Piazza Duomo, up one flight and then an elevator 3 levels to the door. This means you are steps to the Duomo, 15 minutes walk to Piazza della Signoria and the Uffizi, 15 minutes the other way to the Academia; a bit more to the central train station. It is clean, elegant, spacious for 4, and very comfortable. The kitchen is large and functional; there is a loft laundry room. You are at the heart of things but the thick walls of the classic building keep it quiet. This would work very well for a romantic couple or two couples, a small family of 4-5, or a businessman who wanted lots of room. Wifi works and there is a flat screen television. There are several good restaurants immediately below and along Via del Oriuolo. If you yearn for home The Grill has excellent hamburgers and fries; good Italian stuff too. Trattoria l' Oriuolo has very good food at reasonable prices; Trip Advisor and others gives it a well deserved high rating . The Florentine version of a supermarket, CONAD, is another 150 m from Trattoria l' Oriuolo down the street and you can buy most anything you want for eating in.
It's the nicest European VRBO I've ever seen, by far.
Pros - Convenient Location . Owners father - Guiseppe & brother - Gherardo were very nice & helpful. They did a load of laundry for us since their machine was broken.
Cons - Living room & open space bedroom definitely needs another AC unit. Very Hot in 90 degree weather.
They were nice to provide fans after requesting which helped a little.
Cleaning needs to be supervised in the bathrooms -Bathtub drainage was bad in one bathroom & upstairs bathroom had disgusting hair in shower left by previous user.
Communication with owner was prompt and helpful. 4 of us, all 65 and over, had no problems getting to and from SMN station, by taxi and walking with luggage. We were met at the door by owner's father. Seamless check in. Facilities as described, clean and looks like a well kept home. The location is wonderful. Within easy walking for all of us, even across Ponte Vicchio. Restaurants, sights all within easy walk. Grocery store on same street. Facility was great, though we did not use the washing machine. We would stay here again if we come back. Thanks Niccolo and Giuseppe.
Beautiful apartment in perfect location, myself, husband and 3 children stayed here for three nights, very spacious, clean with every amenity we needed. It was great to be so close to the Duomo and walking distance to many sights. Niccolo was the perfect host, met us at the apartment on our arrival and gave us great tips on where to eat and what to eat! When I come to florence again, this is where I want to stay!
This apartment is in a great location, with the view of Duomo from the living room window. It's spacious and convenient. However, our experience with the owner leaves some to be desired. We've stayed in the appt for 4 nights with 3 kids, and I was very specific ahead of time about the need ro do laundry, since long travel with a large family does require it. When we arrived Niccolo has informed us the washer has broken and he'll have maintenance person the following morning. The repair man wasn't able to fix the problem and replacement was needed, but wasn't possible prior to our departure in 3 days. When I asked for recommendation for a laundry in the area, Niccolo pointed me to the one 15 min away (something that would force us to waste several hours while in Florence doing laundry, something that wasn't acceptable). He didn't bother to try to research anything closer, which was actually quite possible. As the result, I ended up buying some new underwear and t-shirts for kids to last us till our next stop. When I asked Niccolo to give us a modest discount of $10-15/day to accommodate for the inconvenience, however, he adamantly refused.
Also, when I contacted Niccolo re: reimbursement of our security deposit at the time of checkout (I emailed him the day before trying to figure out the logistics), I couldn't get response for the whole day and was forced to even involve VRBO support.
While the appt is fine and is in a good location, I feel that Niccolo could've done better job, as an owner.
The apartment was very large, nice, and clean. It was in an amazing location right behind the Duomo, and very close to anywhere you would want to visit in Florence. We were in Florence during a heatwave so the A/C was much appreciated. The wifi worked great as well. The only suggestion I would have for the owner is to have a list of instructions somewhere. We were not provided much information at all which wasn't a big issue but it would have been nice to be able to refer to general instructions on items such as the washer, air conditioning, and checkout procedures. Otherwise everything was perfect!
Apartment in the heart of Florence. From the window seems to touch the dome by Brunelleschi. Ideal starting point for any tourist itinerary. You can easily walk to the unmissable sights of Florence, the Uffizi Gallery the Academy, with Michelangelo's David. From Santa Maria Novella to the Old Bridge. Inserted in the shopping streets, Via de 'Tornabuoni to Holy Cross.
