Overview

Kailua-Kona Townhome Rental Photos and Description

2-story, 4 bedroom, 3 bath, Sleeps 8 comfortably.

Spectacular ocean and beach front home with an incredible rare location. Our vacation home is close to everything (town, shops, beach, boogie boarding, surfing, snorkeling, harbor, activities) yet private for your relaxing stay at your beach home-away-from-home.

We have air conditioning and a washer and dryer, and all the other amenities for your hale-away-from-hale.

Relaxing, private, and incredible views!: Our town home is located on the ocean side of the famous Ali'i Drive. Our home is so close to the ocean, you can toss a shell from the lanai and hit water. We have two three-sided lanais that offer incredible views of the ocean. The sound of the surf in front of the condo is so relaxing and if you look, you can see fish in the waves!

There are dolphins and many other sea creatures (human too) that pass by daily. We have a special little known beach just a few hundred feet away that honu visit through out the day.

Our home is ideal for couples or families and is decorated in traditional Hawaiian decor.

You cannot beat this view from three-sided lanais. The fourth side of the lanais are all glass sliding doors so that you can also enjoy the same ocean view from the inside! You will enjoy spectacular sunsets every night year round. During the peak season, whales swim and often breach right in front of the condo which is fun to watch from the lanais. You will also see dolphins year round.

We are close to all you could ever want to do in Kona!

Close by is a small private cove with a sandy beach that is kid friendly, shallow and protected. Turtles live there and they are very friendly and love to come swim up to you!! They are protected so please do not touch!

One of the most incredible snorkeling spots on the Big Island is about a mile or so away with easy access for all ages and snorkeling levels. It is actually known throughout the world for one of the best snorkeling and diving spots that can be found.

Our condo is located close to everything you need: downtown Kailua-Kona shops and restaurants, snorkeling, surfing, diving, boating, tons of water fun activities, golf, sandy beaches...you name it!

Enjoy exploring any part of the Big Island and still be able to go home afterwards to the place where the Ancient Royals knew where to go to truly vacation. There is a reason they chose Kona. There is a reason we chose our home. Both are magical and unique locations that are difficult to find. We love our guests to share what we have found too! Great times with family and friends in a wonderful place creating special memories that last a lifetime.

We spent a very pleasent week in August 2005 and found everything to be exceptional. The accomadations, the view of the ocean and the sunsets couldn't have been better. Making all the arrangements with April was extreamly easy and she was most helpful with every concern I had. I would definitly like to stay at this location in the future.

Beautiful oceanfront condo with great amenities

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week in this beautiful oceanfront condo. The sunsets from the lanai were the best on the island. The condo had everything we needed to enjoy our time there. It was especially nice to have beach chairs, towels and mats to borrow. The condo was spotless when we arrived and exactly how it appeared online. Geri was extremely easy to work with. There was plenty of space for our family and even when we thought there was going to be a hurricane/tropical storm we were relieved that we were in such a comfortable place to ride out the storm. The turtle cove is a real treasure. We look forward to a return trip. Thank you Geri for your hospitality.

Perfect location and setting

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time to the Big Island but I have rented homes in many different places including the Carribean and Turks. This was one of the best vacations and homes we've rented. We loved the central to location to restaurant and beaches, yet felt secluded. The Lanias/decks were awesome to sit and drink in the salty air, hear the crashing waves and see the sunset. The house was large and comfortable. Geri was great at giving us ideas for dining, beaches, and adventures plus there were plenty of books we could look through on our own. The island is so big you could spend several vacactions here to see it all and we would definitely rent here again. Keriana

Awesome

  • 5 of 5

This is a wonderful place to stay with your family. Right on the ocean and well stocked with everything you would need and more. Geri is easy to work with and gave me suggestions on what to do and some of the hot spot for eating. If my family decides to go again I will be contacting her to book her place again. Thank you Geri for making our family vacation and great memorable experience. Joyce Davis

BEST VACATION EVER!

  • 5 of 5

I have rented homes for all of our vacations, and sometimes it's an adventure.

This experience was an adventure in a very good way! The description and pictures are extremely accurate. The home is very well kept and supplied. Geri was professional yet personable, and always helpful with suggestions and information. She allowed for a late check out, and my husband and I were able to relax on the lanai for one last sunset, and I'm pretty sure our deposit refund was in the mail before we arrived home. We were six adults, and there was plenty of room to be together or take some time alone on the upstairs lanai. The location was perfect for us. It is centrally located to take advantage of a few different beaches or run into town, and the view is breathtaking! Our "not to miss" activity was renting kayaks (licensed) and paddling to Captain Cook. The spinner dolphins were putting on a show amongst the kayaks, and the snorkeling was incredible. Go early! Of course, we were all looking forward to swimming with the honu, and we weren't disappointed. We found them after a short trek to the right of our lanai (just like Geri said). It's a great place to relax and dip in. A little slice of heaven in our own front yard. Side note: We took reef safe sunscreen for our water activities. It's not the the most pleasant to put on, but well worth the effort to protect the ocean life, and not one burned tourist in the bunch. Our "not to miss" restaurants were Da Poke Shack (walking distance and yummy) and Holuakoa Gardens and Cafe (perfect for a delicious leisurely dinner). This truly was our best vacation ever. If we find our way back, we will for sure be staying here again. Mahalo Geri for sharing your beautiful home!

We Had a Nice Stay

  • 4 of 5

It was a good stay. Home is great - dated (80s style), comfortable and completely adequate. Best rooms are well-equipped kitchen, master bedroom (for large size, quiet and privacy), and the two balconies that overlook the ocean. The other bedrooms are on the road side so you can hear traffic, plus an occasional rooster crowing. Great location regarding close enough to town for easy access. Beware of so called "beach access", as there truly is none. The only nearby sand is surrounded by rocks that you have to carefully trek over - make sure to have adequate shoes - from the condo. Then the tiny beach front is totally protected by a barrier-style rounded rock formation a stones throw away, perhaps 5o feet strait out, that keeps the incoming waves generally calm, at least during August, stopping the surf as it approaches the sand. Then the relatively large tidal pool that surrounds this tiny beach is two feet deep at best, so it's not very ideal for good snorkeling. It does have a nice compliment of the local tropical fish and invertebrates but the very shallow conditions barely encourage small kids to explore it and definitely not an adult. So again, there is no real/true beach or ocean access anywhere nearby this condo. The host was very warm and pleasant via e-mail the entire time up to the final week prior to our arrival. But when we asked her about available snorkel gear, boogie boards, and certain kitchen equipment, all that niceness changed. It wasn't even a request, just an inquiry, but for some reason, perhaps she was having a very bad week, she got quite annoyed, rude and extremely unprofessional - worse I've ever experienced or even witnessed by far. Pretty much like you'd watch in a funny movie scene. She made comments such as "You're obviously not going to be satisfied with our home so you can cancel your reservation if you wish but of course you'll loose your security deposit". All of this came entirely from us asking some simple specifics regarding her beach toy and kitchen tool inventory, all quite reasonable questions. But of course because we had booked this place well over a half-year ago, we were not going start looking for some place else, a week before our arrival. But of course, for obvious reasons, I was tempted. I decided to shake all this non-sense off, take the high road and focus on my family and I enjoying our trip, which we did. Once again, this condo is very comfy and completely adequate.

Owner's Response: I am so grateful for the 29 five star reviews that are so kind! So happy his family had fun! This is what I want for your stay. He never indicated he was unhappy after my kind replies to 26 emails. I provided our Kona Cheat Sheet To Do list, a discount, and late check out; not many owners do this. Please talk to me if you are concerned. It is so easy to post negative/incorrect information. We have traditional craftsman Hawaiian rattan furniture not 80s. Rather than destroy that heritage and buy new from China, we hired a local artist who restored all to its original beauty. I would not invest this in 80s furniture. Given the need to constantly upgrade in this world, maybe he expected something like a hotel. We are on Ali’i Drive which has traffic and a rooster in the neighborhood. I have fans in every room to to help with those who may be sound sensitive like myself. Our complex has spent a huge amount of care and detail to make guests’ and owners’ stay as peaceful as possible. Just know that roosters roam free on all the Islands. Since he owns a farm, I am surprised a rooster would bother him. We are ocean and beach front. There is a generous sandy area right out front to play /hang out on and a small ocean access area to get your toes wet. We are blessed to have volcanic rock protecting our hale. Beach access is a short walk away. I carried my baby girls on my hips to the beach access point. My 85 year old mother did just fine. Our beach access is so special;.a piece of paradise with shade trees and protected from high surf. Little/new snorkelers can test their skills without being in a large beach/scary environment. The tide pools are wonderful. Yes you need to use common sense on the short trek. I would not put my family or guests in harms way. He is a Coast Guard, farmer and therapist. I would expect better ability to judge from that experience. His quotes are not true and I was never the adjectives he describes. We never spoke in person. I was merely concerned. He seemed very nervous as if he was scared about the money he had spent. I offered the option to back out last minute with full credit less our deposit for time spent working together. If he felt I was having a bad week I would hope for his kindness! To his credit, he changed his review from 3 to 4 after my sincere questions. I tried hard to make him happy. Lesson learned: You cannot make everyone happy. This is our home that our family works so hard to keep nice. Our hale is your hale.
