We loved our stay at Finca Oscar Burchard. The villas was just perfect for our family of 4 (two kids aged 7 and 9). The pool was fabulous, and the kitchen was just sublime. I couldn't stop looking out the window at the views. We all slept comfortably on the cozy beds. We really couldn't have asked for a better rental. Fabian was so charming to correspond with. I'd highly recommend his restaurants - best on the island! We also loved brunch at the Monje vineyard. I'd definitely come back to Tenerife again! Thank you!
Great to have you as a guest
Lovely Finca with fantastic views
Really enjoyed our stay in this lovely Finca. Especially liked the location with its fantastic views of the sea and Mount Teide. The kitchen was fantastic and picking our own fruit and veg from the wonderful garden was amazing. Overall we really enjoyed our holiday and the welcome from the host was very friendly and informative.
The two things which could have improved our holiday would be the addition of another bathroom (only one bathroom in the Finca) and the replacement of the bunk beds with a double or twin beds in the downstairs bedroom (no need for the extra large wardrobes).
It was good to meet you. 1st Welsh visitors ever. :)
Im glad you enjoyed the stay and the island. Hope to see you again. all the best
Great authentic Cultural stay with fabulous hosts Fabian & Mario
We have just come back from a wonderful week end of sep into october staying at Finca Oscar Burchard. When we arrived we met Fabian and his staff at one of their family resturants El Calderito de la abuela which i cannot recommend enough its lovely.
We followed him by car to the finca and he showed us around the garden which is just amazing with so much fresh home grown produce from avocados and bannanas to peppers, chillis and herbs that are also used in their resturants.
His welcome was so lovely and the welcome pack fantastic including the fresh pastries :). He shows you round the finca thoroughly which i have to say was the best equipped most organised holiday rental we have ever stayed in and was lovely and clean and their garden fantastic and great to explore.
Your allowed to pick all the fruits and vegetables for free, which is wonderful.
The views from the finca are amazing from every room, we did not use the pool as a bit tooo cold for the time of year but lovely to sit round it lounging about on a rest day.
The area is lovely and authentic, La orotava is beautiful and has much to offer, if you like good food, beaches, nice walks and friendly locals.
We had a lovely dinner in the resturant mentioned above, the staff were lovely and friendly, the food absolutely fantastic and authentic and the sea view is a must to reserve and was lovely meeting Mario Fabians brother chatting exchanging tips and life experiences.
We felt sooo at home and were sad to leave.
The north is the place to be to experience genuine authentic culture and hospitality and loved Garachico and La Orotova the museum on the carpet of flowers festival is a must see.
Thank you Fabian and Mario for your help and such a lovely stay and making us feel sooo comfortable and a fantastic holiday, we wish you and your families all the best in the future :).
For anyone reading previous reviews about dog barking, we only mainly found it on the weekend and odd weeknight however after first day or two it did not bother us in the slightest and would most definately come back again as its sooo worth it, p.s the wine cellar is amazing.
We spent two great weeks at Finca Oscar Burchard. When we arrived quite late in the evening, the owner Fabio made us a very nice welcome at our meeting point (one of the family´s restaurants, which is by the way very recommandable!!). He showed us around the garden and went picking beans and salat with our two kids (3 and 6 years old), who therefore had a crush on Fabio immediately. As Fabio lived in Devon and London for a long time, he speaks perfect british english, so communication was not a problem at all. After the friendly welcome we drove all together to the finca, a nice and clean property inside a huge estate with a lush garden and wineyard. We were allowed to pick all the fruits and vegetables for free, which was a lot of fun - again for the kids, who loved their everyday task. The house is a perfect space for a family with two kids. No wishes left when cooking in the very well equipped kitchen with an astounding good view at the Teide. The pool (our very own pool!) was quite cold, but refreshing after coming home from our various activities over the island. The area around La orotava is beautiful and has much to offer, if you like good food, stormy beaches, nices hikes and friendly people. We felt very much at home and decided to definitely come back some day to meet fabio and his family again (especially "la abuela"!). So long all the best for you!
PS: We have to commit due to former ratings, that the dogs on Tenerife really have a huge intention to bark. Day and night. But after two day we got used to it and it didn´t bother us at all.
im very glad to hear that you enjoyed the island and the finca, and more so that you would want to return. Im sure you have lots of places still to discover. I love having people like you that really get stuck in their holidays and discover the real Tenerife and not just the beaches and shopping centres. It was great meeting you and your lovley family. Im sure you will be impressed when you come back as we have fresh new ideas to bring the house to a different level of comfort. All the best. Mario and Fabian
Wonderful finca close to La Orotava
La Orotava center can be reached on foot in 15 minutes. The finca is located on huge ground which is split into vineyards, a vegetable garden and a recreation area. The entire garden is very nice and laid out with love. We had the friendly permission to harvest the delicious vegetables. The finca consists of two buildings. In the historical part there is the stylish furnished living room on the ground floor and upstairs the bedroom. You are lying in bed and looking through a big window directly at the Atlantic - fantastic! On the upper floor are also the toilet and shower accommodated. Shower and toilet are in a separate "room", which is unfortunately very cramped. This is one of the two disadvantages of this finca. The second drawback is the morning traffic at the nearby roundabout. However, these two disadvantages are quickly forgotten when you enter the separate building, which houses only the kitchen. In the middle of the large room is the table. All around is arranged the kitchen, in which one misses nothing. Space without end! Cooking - with the freshly harvested vegetables - is a lot of fun! On top you can enjoy the view of the volcano Teide and the Atlantic. There are two terraces where you can relax and eat. In sum, a wonderful place to relax and to take a vacation.
The finca is clean and everything makes a decent impression.
On the lower terrace invites a small pool to cool down.
The finca has its own wine cellar where you can get the local wines.
We can recommend this finca for those who like to spend their holidays away from the usual tourism but want to enjoy nature and cooking!
A beautiful, charming & very comfortable Finca property with everything that is needed to chill out.
A unique property, so comfortable with everything that you needed to enjoy a relaxing holiday in the Orotava valley. The wood burning stove was a boon in an unseasonal week of cooler weather but still managed to sit out on the terrace in the sun by the pool. Fabian, one of the owners was very helpful & encouraged us to use the vegetables growing in the vineyard. Great restaurants for “foodies” & we can thoroughly recommend the El Calderito de Abuela which is one of 3 restaurants owned by Fabian’s family. We loved our week there & will definitely return.
