Manistee Lake is especially popular for families with younger children as the sandy bottom extends out and is shallow and safe for play. The beach and shallow water at the property edge is really great fun for dogs to play as their feet can touch the bottom for quite a way out. Have a BBQ on the outdoor river rock BBQ, and take in the fabulous sunsets our lake is known for. We provide some firewood so you can enjoy campfires in the fire pit at the lakes edge...bring your marshmallows!

My whole family enjoyed many years going to the cottage. We looked forward to getting away from the city and We enjoyed many fantastic campfires at smelling the fresh air and enjoying the outdoors and some great BBQ's in Northern Michigan. I always liked to ride the trails and float down rivers too. I always looked forward to fall and some fantastic bird hunting while the fall colors took hold.
Steve purchased this cottage in 1993
Easy drive from Southern Michigan, Indiana and Ohio. The location is centrally located, and close to some very quant towns.
There are many, but for starters. The lake is big and not congested. The walleye fishing is very good, thousands of fish planted recently, along with the ability for doing about all of the water sports.
There is a fire pit at the waters edge, where you can watch the sunsets while roasting marshmellows.
Next, the very close proximity thousands of acres of STATE land with many trails for offloading, biking and hiking etc.
Big rivers that are not very far away. They offer excellent fly fishing and canoeing.
In the fall there is hunting for deer and birds on many square miles of state land only minutes away.
I could keep going!!!
Spent the weekend here with my husband, our 6 week old baby, and our golden retriever. The pictures do not do justice to this place. Its extremely clean, and better yet extremely comfortable. All amenities were there. The yard was fantastic and the beach area was pretty nice. It was very easy to go in and out of the water, nice and shallow quite a ways out. The wood fire grill was interesting.... but easy to operate and different/fun :) The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped, we had a great time and plan to be back. Thanks Steve!
The property was fantastic on beautiful Lake Manistee. Really enjoyed going down to the water, where there was a fire pit, wooden swing and a long dock and simply taking in the beauty of the lake. Great property for a couple or small family.
This cabin is in a beautiful setting with all the comforts of home, we plan to stay again next year.
This was a beautiful place cozy and worth the stay it would of been nice if they had the u use u replace rule it was difficult to get there after a very long drive needing to use the bathroom and there was no toilet paper. Bit other than that it was very very nice there we would definitely stay again.
Very pleased with our stay. Cottage was well kept and clean. Very nice location and nice view of the lake. There was a lot of snow when we arrived, but the drive was plowed and plenty of wood to keep a toasty fire going every day during our stay. We look forward to planning a stay in the summer. Only 30 mins from Traverse City. Would definitely recommend.
We were very pleased with this property. The grounds and cottage are just as pictured and the cottage was clean and neat. It gives you a great up north feel, but has a beautiful, updated, kitchen and the woodfired grill was fun to cook on. The lake is shallow but clean and the owners leave lots of 'toys' to help enjoy the water. We very much enjoyed our stay.
