About Ken Maust
I, Ken, grew up in Accident, MD on a farm. In 1995 I moved to Nashville, TN to take a job as a Road Manager/Sound Engineer for many different artists. This took me to all 50 states and about 15 countries. In Nashville, I met my wife Cheryl who was working for the management company of George Strait, Lee Ann Womack, Dierks Bentley, and others. She also went to school for interior design. We got married in 2002 and now have 4 children. After the children came along, I decided I no longer wanted to be on the road all the time, so I got a "real job" in the building industry designing homes. In 2014 we decided to move back to Accident, MD. Cheryl and I designed our new home and we moved in Dec 2017. We both love having guests over and enjoy cooking. Sipping a fresh cup of hot coffee on the front porch while watching the deer and wild turkeys is an enjoyment of ours. Cheryl's parents both moved to the US from Cuba in the 1950's so Cheryl's first language was Spanish. Cheryl grinds her own flour and bakes fresh bread regularly. Her homemade pizzas will rival any pizza shop! One of her passions is to take old furniture or other objects and take her artistic touch to turn them into something new, useful and exciting! She also enjoys oil painting when she gets the opportunity. While I now spend much of my time working from home designing houses, I also mix sound at a local state university where they bring in various national/international artists. Since 1997, I have been the road manager/sound engineer for Grammy winner Bob Carlisle - "Butterfly Kisses". Although he is now “retired”, I still occasionally do a concert with him. It was his multi-platinum hit song Butterfly Kisses that inspired the name Butterfly Suite. Bob stayed in our guest room when in Nashville and always referred to it as “The Bob Carlisle Suite”. That is why we call this “The Butterfly Suite”.

Weekend Ski Getaway!
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Ken. Everything was incredibly clean and the property was extremely nice! We could not ask for a better place to stay to go skiing at Wisp! We enjoyed the homemade bread and preserves left for us by the host. I would highly recommend this property to anyone. We expect to make this property our go to when we go skiing from now on!
Cozy garage apt near WISP
Delightful one-bedroom unit above the garage. Great communication with the owner. Well equipped kitchen and washer and dryer (handy for wet ski clothes). The thoughtful owner had home made preserves and bread waiting for us. Short drive to the WISP Resort. Cozy place for a get-away weekend.
My husband and I stayed one night in Ken & Cheryl's Butterfly Suite and couldn't have been happier. Prior to our visit, Ken answered every question I had about the property. When he learned that we were considering tubing at Wisp, Ken proactively contacted the resort and shared its opening day details with us. Greeting us in the kitchen was a beautiful, homemade loaf of bread and a jar of homemade strawberry jam. The suite is very clean and welcoming and its décor is elegant and inviting. We loved the gas fireplace which added warmth and cheer to the rainy, cold night. The king sized bed was very comfortable and the quiet, secluded wooded setting added to a very restful night's sleep. We loved our stay and wished we'd have had more time to stay much, much longer. We'll definitely return to Butterfly Suite!
Loved the country life!
My husband and I stayed here for a weekend away. I liked the location because we did things in both Maryland around Deep Creek Lake, and Pennsylvania visiting Fallingwater House, and the Amish area in Springs, PA. The house is out in the country with a little chicken coop in the yard. The highlight was the homemade bread and strawberry jam that Cheryl made. We ate that every morning and decided that it was the best thing we ate all weekend! The bed was very comfortable, and the apartment was beautifully decorated.
Everything was exemplary, from arrival to departure. Splendid accomendations, decor is first rate. Privacy and tranquillity abounds here.
Ken was a very kind and accommodating host
