....The island has worked its magic!
The island and the condo! Every item that could be asked for - and then some!
A special thank you to Chaya and Tom for inviting us to their home for Thanksgiving dinner. We also met the couple from the Wavecrest and a good time was had by all!
Sorry to leave but we have to head for home after three nights in Honolulu.
Nicely kept, extremely well equipped kitchen which is important on this island.
This was our second visit to Molokai, the "friendly" island. Our condo was located on the South walking distance to the town of Kaunakakai. This condo is amazingly equipped with just about everything you would need, clean, nicely furnished, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The grounds were meticulously cared for, including a nice swimming pool and new washer/dryer. Molokai has so much to offer if you enjoy being outdoors and being surrounded by wonderful happy people. The main road is located near the condo so you would hear some automobile traffic noise at times, more of a little annoyance, but important to know it was not constant. You will enjoy the roosters singing---it's a Hawaiian thing. Otherwise it was perfect. The owners invited us to their home for coffee, gave us a tour of their property---very gracious. Upon arrival you will find a hug binder with all the information about Molokai (what to do, see, locations of the best beaches etc.). This is a life saver if this is your first visit. Just as important we had a couple of minor issues at the condo and the owners were extremely prompt in responding in correcting them. Be sure and visit: Kalaupapa, Molokia Museum, Macadamia Nut Farm, Kumu Organic Farm for your produce, Paddlers Inn for their daily special while listening to local musician, Molokai Fish Dive food truck for lunch, and of course Tim the owner and his dive master offer scuba dive and snorkeling. These are just a few things to do and see. Oh, and don't forget to watch the sunrise and sunsets---they are magnificent.
The condo is in a perfect place to visit every part of the island with the least amount of driving.
The East end is beautiful and the drive there has beautiful, photographic views. Mile 20 beach is good for snorkeling if the trade winds are not too strong and the tide is right. You can arrange for a tour of the flower farm and/or the cultural hike to the falls. We took our lunch and ate at the end of the road.
The Central section has a wonderful rain forest board walk that we have been on. You need a 4 wheel drive to get to the overlook and then you can walk on the trail through the rain forest and across "tundra" to another overlook. Well worth the effort.
The West end has gorgeous beaches to relax on or swim in Dixie Mauri is a beautiful cove for swimming and when the tide is right and not really windy or wave not huge, suppose to be good for snorkeling. We enjoyed sitting on the beach with the beach chairs from the condo. Also brought our lunch in the tote from the closet. Be sure to stop at the interesting Kite shop in the small town slightly out of the way..
The North end has the views of the peninsula where Father Damien worked. We took the mule ride down for a very interesting and educational tour. The ride was very bumpy but worth the trip. Book ahead to make sure you have a place.
The South side on which the Molokai Shores is located has the major town with a farmers market on Saturday and numerous grocery stores, an art store, David's ice cream store and also the bakery which has hot bread with toppings in the evenings. (the information is on the window of the store...you go to the back to pick up the bread).
Not only was the condo convenient located, but it was clean, well kept and in a very beautiful location. The swimming pool and putting green as well as picnic tables were available. The grill was only the briquette type when we visited. I took many sunsets from the small beach there. The view from the lanai/balcony is beautiful.
The condo has just about every appliance, cook pan, etc, needed. We cooked most of our meals in the condo and it had everything we need to fix our meals. We sometimes ate out on the lanai. The king size bed was very comfortable and the pillows were great. This condo is on the second floor so you need to take the stairs up and down so not recommended for people with disabilities. We would recommend this condo to someone visiting Molokai who wants a central location.
Thank you Tom and Chaya!
We had a WONDERFUL time on Molokai. It's just beauty everywhere.
The Condo was Perfect. Thank you Chaya & Tom.
Janet & Tony
Chaya and Tom have a beautifully decorated condo in a very convenient location. The view from the lanai is beautiful, and they have provided many extras that made our stay very special. They are really friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed our stay in their condo. We enjoyed our hike down to the former leper colony-the views are amazing!
We so enjoyed our 2 weeks on Molokai and couldn’t have been more comfortable in your clean, well maintained, well equipped and comfy, ocean view Ka Hale Kealoha condo. There were no surprises, all was as indicated in the listing and emails. The info you provided before and after arrival was speedy, accurate, professional, warm and friendly. Your binder of information in the condo was a huge bonus as well as the use of the laptop and telephone. From start to finish it was a total pleasure dealing with you and an even bigger pleasure meeting you. For us Molokai did not disappoint and it provided lots to see and do. We explored as far N, S, E & W as you can without a 4-wheel drive vehicle, boat or plane. We hiked down to Kalaupapa, golfed at Ironwood Hills and enjoyed the course, the reasonable rates and the no pressure golf. We hiked to the falls on the E end and toured a botanical garden with Kalani Pruet and son Jonathon. We enjoyed the Hotel Molokai Friday 4-6PM local entertainment plus the Saturday Market in Kaunakakai. We dined at Paddler’s Inn, Elsie’s, the Pizza Cafe, Molokai Burgers, CookHouse, Bakery & Restaurant, Molokai Drive Inn, Coffees of Hawaii and treated ourselves to Dave’s Ice Cream and were never disappointed. We snorkeled, picnicked, shopped all the shops, toured the Macadamia Nut Farm and the Meyer Sugar Mill Museum, saw a monk seal at Kepuhi Beach and a whale spout off Papohaku Beach. We drove the mile long Wharf and walked the beach back. Saw some sunsets and sun rises and when not out and about exploring we enjoyed the condo, the lauai, the pool and the putting green at our well groomed Molokai Shores resort. We found all we needed at the grocery stores, Kumu Farms, fruit stands and market and made some awesome smoothies as well as many local and tourist acquaintances along the way. Molokai is an island full of beauty, history, adventure, friendly people, great weather, good food, slower pace, a non commercialized quality of life and it is yours to discover and enjoy as we did! Thank you Chaya and Tom for welcoming us to Molokai and making it so easy. We wish you a soon, plus long and happy retirement in you beautiful Molokai mountain/ocean view home. You are the best and we will definitely recommend you and your condos to friends and family. Rarely do we repeat holidays but if ever we return to Molokai you would be our first contact. We thank you and we thank Molokai for having us! Take care and God Bless!
Molokai offers a wonderful mule ride to the old leper colony with stunning cliff side ocean views all the way down - a trip unique in the world that you will talk about for years to come!
Other Activities: mule ride to historic leper colony
Golf: There is a putting green at the resort (we provide clubs and balls); the golf course is about a 15 minute drive from the condo (very reasonable rates and a fantastic ocean view).
