Great Stay in NYC Apartment

  • 5 of 5

This apartment was in a great location with subway only steps away. It is in great conditon and was very clean on arrival. It looks exactly as seen in the pictures and the customer service provided by owner was excellent. We had a great stay in NYC and would highly recommend this apartment.

Great apartment and location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the 4th floor apartment for a girls getaway and were very comfortable there. The apartment is really clean and more spacious than we expected - we joked that the back bedroom must be in Brooklyn. The bedrooms were really quiet and the mattresses so comfortable that our crowd of early risers kept sleeping in :-) We enjoyed having the wine shop below and frequented a few nearby restaurants - 121 Fulton Street was excellent. The Beekman Hotel recently opened across the street and it is really beautiful, definitely worth a walk through. Their doormen and concierge desk were very helpful even though we weren't guests there. Their restaurant/bar wasn't open yet but I'm sure it will be a great addition to the neighbourhood.

Apartment was different from the pictures

  • 1 of 5

The pictures are a bit out of date. The large brown L shaped sofa is now a 3-seater sofa, which is very uncomfortable to sleep on, as other reviewers have mentioned. The dining table and chairs are different. The seat came off of one of the dining chairs. The dishwasher's utensils caddy is damaged with utensils falling through the bottom. Someone put some green sponge at the bottom hoping to address this. The ensuite bathroom is pretty much as shown in the pictures. However, the guest bathroom is very different with the tiling, sink, faucet all changed. In the guest bathrrom, the faucet just comes out of the sink completely. We had to hold it down with one hand and use the lever to pull it up with another. The toilet roll handle came out of the wall, as did the towel rack. Perhaps, when this bathroom was renovated, the quality was not great? Both of the queen sized beds in the bedrooms are on the soft side.

I imagine that when the apartment was new, it was great. However, it is a bit tired and I would like to make other prospective renters aware of that. We appreciate that the price is fantastic for the size of the apartment. However, we just needed the apartment to be more functional and less in need of repair. Towels, sheets, blankets, hand soap were all generous. Both Anne-Marie and Lee were very courteous, responsive and professional. Unfortunately, they were not able to address our concerns during our stay.

The location is very convenient, directions to the apartment was spot on, and entry instructions were perfect. The apartment just needs a proper renovation (guest bathroom, mattresses, sofa, dining chairs, sand the wood floors) and it would be back to the description as advertised.

Location! Spacious! Quiet!

  • 4 of 5

This apartment (unit 4) is extremely spacious & well-stocked. The proximity to the subway almost couldn't be better & we were pleasantly surprised with all the dining options within a very short walk. The building across the street is under heavy construction, but it was not a factor for us as the person staying in the living room is an early riser. The construction work started about 6:30 AM and was wrapped up before we noticed in the evenings. The actual bedrooms are in the rear of the apartment and were VERY quiet. Quietest quarters we've EVER had staying in Manhattan, and I absolutely loved the mattress in the first bedroom. Better than mine at home! The biggest problems we had with the sleeping arrangements were that 1) the sleeper sofa mattress was too uncomfortable so that person just ended up sleeping on the couch itself 2) both available air mattresses were too big to fit in either bedroom so it was difficult for our young son to use one (bedtime before everyone else in the apartment). We also did not have much luck using the WiFi. It was flaky and when we could actually connect, it wasn't for long enough to do much. One of the 3 locks on the door did not work at all and the deadbolt worked only with some effort. This sleeps 6 & while the table would seat 6, there are only 5 chairs (1 of which is a rolling desk chair). Communication with the manager during our stay could have been better, but we never had problems big enough to matter much. It would be nice to get prompt responses to questions & concerns though. We didn't have enough washcloths for the whole group & the phone number we were provided for questions was not answered nor responded to if texted. Email was slow/impossible due to WiFi. I'd suggest a notebook to leave on the desk with answers to common questions like what to do with garbage, recycling, favorite (non-chain) restaurants nearby, use a password on WiFi and then list it, how to work the TV/satellite/DVD/audio/game systems. There are a TON of entertainment options in this apartment, but with remotes and components that were not totally straightforward and no instructions, we used almost none of it. I would say there was a book in the apartment on the history of Nassau Street. I wished I'd started reading it sooner. The first few pages were fascinating. Despite my few negative remarks, this was a fantastic place to stay. We liked this more than either place we've stayed in previous NYC trips -- better than the Waldorf Astoria!

Great Apartment

  • 4 of 5

The apartment was clean, and in a great location. Very close to the subway as well which was very convenient. We had trouble with the TV's working in the bedrooms and main living area. The management was quick to come and help. Unfortunately the TV's in the bedrooms never worked. Even though the apartment is in a great location and in great shape the 2 sofa beds in the living room were in poor condition and were very uncomfortable to sleep on for my boys. All in all the apartment was great, just would recommend upgrading the couches/sofa beds.

Would stay at apartment again.

  • 5 of 5

Apartment was in a great location and we felt very safe walking anywhere. Apartment was clean with full kitchen (which we mainly used for breakfast) and it was really nice to have central air in July! There is construction just about everywhere in the city, but the bedrooms are located in the back of the apartment so we did not have any street noise. Great grocery store at 55 Fulton St which is only a few blocks and has anything you could need. Nice wine store on street level. Restaurants are expensive in New York, but you have McDonalds, Burger King, Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks within a couple of blocks. There is a CVS and Denny's within a block. Walk down Fulton and there are several nice places to eat. We rented bikes and rode over the Brooklyn Bridge. Hop on hop off bus great way to see the city. We walked to PATH subway and went to Hoboken, NJ to Carlos Bakery - we were lucky and got pictures with one of the stars on Cake Boss. Made the trip for my granddaughter! Walked to 911 memorial and it was so moving to see everything in the museum. If you are looking for a plush hotel room, this is not it - it is a nice New York apartment with a little worn couches which we used everyday to start the day and end the day rather than just sitting in a room. We would definitely stay here again.
