Overview

Crescent Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6-8)

Crescent Lake Cabin is a secluded, private cabin on Crescent Creek near the town of Crescent Lake Junction in Oregon. It is the ideal location for a secluded, relaxing, natural getaway, with activities the whole year round.

A recent entry in the cabin guest book says, 'What a wonderful spot by the creek! We started the weekend with ambitions of hikes and canoeing on lakes and then soon realized that the best thing was staying by the cabin, walking through the woods, splashing in the creek, playing with inner tubes, playing fetch with our dog, enjoying the wood stove and treasuring each other's company.'

If you do have ambitions of hikes, canoeing, mountain biking, or exploring in general, there is plenty to do:

At Crescent Lake Cabin, you can:

* Fish from our dock

* Swim in either of two swimming holes

* Float down the creek

* Enjoy your morning coffee with your feet in the creek

* Cross-country ski or snowmobile from our front door (winter only!)

We are also:

* 5 minutes from fishing and water skiing on Crescent Lake

* 5 minutes from Odell Lake for more fishing

* Near world-class mountain biking

* Near the Pacific Crest Trail and other trailheads

* I can provide you with hiking and mountain biking trail guides

* 10 minutes from Willamette Pass Ski Area

* 60 miles from Crater Lake and Diamond Lake

* 1 mile from Crescent Lake Junction, with gas, a convenience store, a burger restaurant, and a tavern

Also, people often ask if there will be snow, and my best response is that I can't predict the weather! The trend is that from November through March, there is a good chance of snow, but it is not guaranteed. In 2014-2015, there was little snow. This winter, 2015-16, has plenty of snow. Also, when there is snow, travel is more difficult, and it is necessary to use the wood stove to keep warm. If this sounds like a fun adventure to you, I encourage you to stay in the winter!

About Mark Rabenstein

I enjoy spending time outdoors with my family, especially at our cabin (Crescent Lake Cabin!) For example, in the summer we hike, float in the creek, mountain bike, and fish. In the winter, we ski and sled in the driveway. Professionally, I'm a chemist and a software designer and tester.

Mark Rabenstein purchased this cabin in 2005

Why Mark Rabenstein chose Central Oregon

As a kid, my family had a cabin. As a parent, I wanted to give the same to my children. They have grown up visiting the cabin. Crescent Lake Cabin is convenient to us; it is about 1 hour and 15 minutes from where we live in Bend (and the same distance from Eugene!). Also, We enjoy the seclusion of 3.5 acres, as well as being on Crescent Creek. The natural setting is also gorgeous, with the creek, meadows with butterflies, and pine trees.

What makes this cabin unique

In the summer, we enjoy spending time at the dock on the creek, and playing with the kids in the creek. We usually don't go to the lake because the creek is so fun and convenient! In the winter, we enjoy walking out the door and cross-country skiing.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This place is a steal! The cabin was actually much roomier than we expected with more sleeping area than it looks like online. The king size bed was super comfortable. The cabin was very well stocked. We LOVED the creek which is huge and fun to use floaty toys to float down and the crawdad trap was a hit with the kids. We also made s'mores at the fire pit and that was great. The balcony with BBQ that overlooks the creek is a great place to sit outside and eat. The two lakes within 5 minutes of the cabin are great for fishing and swimming and you can rent boats at either one. Beautiful, calm place to stay. We brought a few movies to watch at night at there is no cable but if we didn't have the kids I probably wouldn't have.

Thanks,

Matt and Laurie

Personal Oasis in the forest

  • 4 of 5

The location of the cabin cannot be beat. You are in the middle of the forest, but yet close enough to other things to keep you busy. We enjoyed our day trips to Crater Lake National Park, Bend, and seeing Salt Creek Falls and the 2 lakes that are close by. The creek in the back of the house was a perfect ending to each day. We felt like it was our own personal creek. There were logs down on each side so that our kids (ages 5 and 7) could play easily without any worry of them being swept away. Wonderful vacation!

Beautiful Property

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Crescent Cabin June 17 thru June 22. There were two couples in our party. The cabin is on a beautiful piece of property and is very well equipped. We cooked most of our meals at the cabin. The kitchen combined with the gas grill on the deck took care of all our needs. We only used the fireplace for heat and it did a great job even with the morning temperatures down around freezing.

Crescent Creek is about 150 yards from the cabin. My wife is disabled and uses a cane or walker. We were able to get her down there with no problem. It is a very peaceful and beautiful place. The water was nice to dip your feet in, but if you wanted to wade, I would recommend water shoes. We didn't fish the creek, but we saw some fish jumping and even saw a beaver swimming around one evening. I would recommend mosquito repellent as they seemed to come out in the afternoon & evening. Mostly down by the creek.

Cell phone coverage was spotty. A better signal out on the deck. We didn't mind that at all as we were trying to get away from things. There is a tv there with some movies if a person wanted to use.

We had a great stay and would definitely rent this property again.

Spring Brake stay

  • 5 of 5

We just came back from our vacation in Oregon and we stayed in that cabin for 5 days. We had a big surprise of having lots of snow around, with temperature dropping at night to low 30th and raising to high 70th -80th during a day. We had lots of fun, traveled a lot around the area, kids were playing in the snow and also were splashing in the creek. Pretty amazing experience! Mark, the owner, was always available to answer our questions and ready to make our stay the best one. Thank you Mark for sharing your cabin with us! Alena

Snowmageddon!!!

  • 5 of 5

Wow what a weekend (March 12th-14th)!! Myself and 3 good friends came up for the weekend to do our annual snowmobiling trip, and head down to the diamond/crater lake area... We usually stay at our place in Lapine, but wanted to mix it up a bit. We never made it out of the driveway until Monday morning though, because we got about 2.5 feet of snow in the 36 hours we were there (We were having too much fun anyways)!! We couldn't get our 3 4x4 trucks out of the driveway without chains, and when we did (sunday night)- we couldn't get up Rose Marie Lane until midday Monday- because the plows must have given up also lol- We decided Sat night to just unload our sleds and stay on the Crescent lake/Summit lake trails and dig our rigs out in the morning- It was a blast and had more snow than I have ever seen up there in such a short amount of time!! We had 1 of the 4 sleds break down all the way on the other side of Crescent, and had to tow it back, but that stuff happens and that just adds to the adventure. There was plenty of room, firewood, and whatever we needed at the cabin. We played cards all night with the fire roaring, ventured down to the creek, and around the neighborhood. Mark was super easy to work with, and I highly recommend this area to those who aren't familiar with this park of the Cascades. It's got something for everyone in all seasons, and that's why we go up there!! Just remember folks that it is a (very nice) cabin, and there's no AC/dishwasher, etc for you city folks... My only recommendation is that if there's ANY chance of significant snow- Park your rig at the top of the driveway before the Crescent lake cabin sign, and just walk down- Thanks again Mark!!

Valentine's Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had an awesome time this winter here for a long weekend getaway. The creek out back was an awesome morning walk. The firewood in the barn was key to staying warm. The snow only added to the experience. We had a ton of fun and are looking forward to coming back. I accidentally left an item at the house and the owner found it and is sending it back to me. Really awesome to have people like this these days.

Thanks Mark,

Brent
