Beautiful San Miguel de Allende...Conde Nast did a recent survey of over one million travel readers on the BEST city to vacation and visit,,,,SMA came up number one in the world...My casa is in up-and-coming Mexiquito, a comfortable 20-minute walk from the Jardin. Great roof deck with a breathtaking view of San Miguel. Spacious, airy, high-ceiling rooms with wonderful light. Cool architectural details. Comfortably furnished. Near bus stops and taxi stations. Quiet, lush neighborhood. Hip, uncluttered decor with art and furniture from local artists. Perfect accommodations for cooking, fitness, shopping, and art groups. Ideal housing for photography or film crews. Extremely private. Modern conveniences and fully-working appliances. On-site laundry. High-speed wireless internet service. Telephone service. Electricity voltage comparable to U.S. voltage. Great place to hang out! My HOusekeeper

comes twice a week as part of your rate.. If interested in hiring her to cook

for a dinner or breakfast please ask for more information. thanks.

The house has open staircases so not appropriate for small kids.

I always ask how old the kids are because I want them safe .Kids who

are older than toddler age maybe fine. Infants no problem.

Overall design and style: Casa de las Ventanas is a 3-story, 4500-square foot house in the northwest section of San Miguel de Allende in an area called Colonial Mexiquito. The house was originally built in 2000 as the vision of an American architect and follows the style of a modern bed-and-breakfast. Comfortable and unpretentious, the overall effect of the house is of an airy, hip, international hotel. If you enjoy the Thames and Hudson series of 'Hip Hotel' books, you will appreciate the style and individuality of the Casa. For more photos, please click on the link below.

Tour of the Casa: You enter the property through a beautiful wrought-iron gate into a brick courtyard. The front door leads up a wide, inviting staircase to the guest level of the house. The guest floor features four large, well-appointed bedrooms each with their own attached bath and own private balcony with gorgeous views of the city of San Miguel. Guest bedrooms 2 and 3 have very unique bathroom setups, including open-style showers and poured-concrete, free-standing sinks. The guest floor hallway is filled with light from the floor-to-ceiling windows facing the front courtyard and the cobblestone street.

Tour of the Casa continued: Up an open staircase to the main floor, you will find a large, lofty, light-filled living room with an open kitchen on one end and a large brick-walled fireplace on the other. The entire length of the room has enormous picture windows giving you a sweeping view of the rolling hills, beautiful architecture, lush vegetation, and sometimes the midnight fireworks of the city. Fortunately you can enjoy the view without the noise, as the Casa is far enough away from the Centro to be quiet and private.

You will also find a large bedroom and adjoining large bathroom on the main floor, also with its own private balcony. Up one more open flight of stairs and you will reach the roof deck, the perfect place for margaritas at sunset. The roof terrace is a large, sun-drenched space that spans the space of the house and has the most expansive view of San Miguel to be found in the Casa. While on the roof deck at the Casa de Las Ventanas, you will feel close to the sky, the clouds, and the stars.

Great location and great time

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the house with a group of girlfriends and had the time of our lives. Kate is a gracious and helpful hostess who had breakfast for us every morning and helped with any questions we had.

The house is in a safe neighborhood walking distance to the center. I am looking forward to returning to Casa de las Ventanas! :-)

Owner's Response: thanks and your friends were great most cases people rent the entire your case you rented rooms and I stayed in the house which is a different rental option if only a few friends are traveling...I am glad you mentioned the area which is safe, and me and my guests have had no problems. Many travelers ask me if San Miguel is safe and my area is definitely free of any problems. Gracious.

The house is practical and comfortable for 10, well located. Extremely noisy neighbors

  • 3 of 5

Overall we enjoyed our stay, house is conviniently located although not in a great neighborhood. The neighbors party a lot (party went on for 12 hours straight making it impossible to sleep) and are super loud. Probably not the best choice for New Years Eve. Paper goods were limited.

Owner's Response: I would say this is my first negative review since 2005. My neighborhood is not a bad neighborhood so I think Gloria must not be use to middle class neighborhoods in Mexico...MexIcans always party on new years eve and that is something that happens all over San Miguel de Allende. I am not sure what the renter means by paper goods being limited. We make sure there is lots of toilet paper for renters . When people Rent the house for an extended stay it is up to them to provide themselves with groceries and what they like.... If you are considering my house for renting take the time to read all my good Reviews. My neighbors party occassionally, but if the neighborhood and the neigbors were always noisy I would not have such good reviews and repeated renters. I have to say this tenant was not a favorite of my housekeeper and she is a lovely lady who worked very hard for this renter...breakfast for ten...setting the table cooking and cleaning and was paid a low amount.....$14 for all her work and no tip. After the tenant left we had renters right away for two nights and their reveiw is on Airbnb..dated November 6....reads GREAT HOST GREAT HOST GREAT HOuSEKEEPER...We take pride in keeping the house comfortable for our renters..thanks...Kate Joyce

Great base for a group

  • 4 of 5

Kate’s house was a perfect base for our group of 4 couples when we visited San Miguel de Allende. The large living area was a comfortable space for us to relax, eat and play games and provided a good view of the city. For a small additional charge, Kate’s housekeeper Rosa turned the ingredients we purchased into a delicious breakfast each morning. Kate was very helpful in showing us the features of the house and in recommending restaurants and places to visit. We would gladly stay at Casa de la Ventanas again.

Fabulous house in quiet neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

Great stay in San Miguel, made all the better by this terrific house. Main upstairs living area offered breathtaking views and lots of seating for entertaining our large party. The rooftop deck offered a serene place to sit and read, and each bedroom was comfortable, ample in size, and had its own complete bath. A terrific place to stay for a large party if you take the upper 2 floors, and a luxurious retreat for a couple if you just want the upper floor.

About Kate Joyce

I am a stylist and producer for commercial photo shoots and videos.....

and I love san miguel...the house is less expensive for two people to rent....more as you add more people....i spend as much time as I can there...see roof deck....I have a great if you bring a group you can hire her to cook you and amazing mexican meal...Life is short....ENJOY!!

Kate Joyce purchased this house in 2005

Why Kate Joyce chose Colonia Mexiquito

The minute I saw this casa i wanted it....i did not need a house this big but the light in the house and the loft like living room did it....many houses in san miguel are dark...not mine!!

then there was the amazing roof deck and view of the at first

What makes this house unique

A bit away from downtown so quieter....san miguel is a noisy place....great views....good area...close to the Aurora Fabrico!! My casa is in colonia have to be careful when looking up the street address because you have to have the correct colonia. In San miguel there are three streets with this same name....all of them are in different colonias or neighborhoods.

San Miguel de Allende is in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico, which is in the central area of the country. San Miguel is an old colonial town with a very European feel and has long been a haven for artists and people who love great weather. The City also boasts a thriving cultural and entertainment scene, beautiful historic architecture, and the vivid colors of Mexico. San Miguel de Allende's famed Jardin in the center of town is a great place to people-watch and meet travelers and locals. Geographically, San Miguel is in the mountainous central region of Mexico where you can enjoy day trips to Guanajuato, Dolores Hidalgo, and the numerous natural hot springs during the nearly year-round temperate weather. The people of San Miguel are warm, welcoming, and proud of their beautiful city. They make it a wonderful place to visit.
