About the property

Clean 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, sleeps 6

This beautiful waterfront location is on the east side of Lake Leelanau where you can enjoy the sunsets and is only 9 miles from Traverse City. The resort has 11 cottages on 3.7 acres with a total of 400 feet of frontage on the lake, a sandy beach, with a protected harbor. For the children there is a playground, a basketball net, horseshoes and even a volleyball net. There is also a gazebo, fire pit and a fish house for cleaning your catch of the day. Our cottage has a picnic table, gas grill and air conditioning. There is so much to do with Suttons Bay, NorthPort, Glen Arbor and Leland right around the corner. We are close to the many wineries scattered through Leelanau Peninsula, close to the Casino at Suttons Bay or just relaxing sitting around the fire pit cooking marshmallows. We are very close to the Sleeping Bear Dunes, named the most beautiful place by Good Morning America.

Northwest Lower Michigan has been a recreational destination area for generations. There are many acres of State Forest, many large and small bodies of water. Lake Michigan, Grand Traverse Bay and the large inland lake (Lake Leelanau) offer outstanding natural beauty and recreational opportunities. Leelanau County has Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lake Shore Park on Lake Michigan about 25 miles west of the cabin. There are several local wineries and several small villages all popular for day trips and eclectic shopping all with about a 20 minute drive. Traverse City is the regional shopping center, quaint downtown, large regional mall. Leelanau Sands Casino is located a scenic 13 miles northeast of the resort in Peshawbestown. Featuring your favorite slot machines from penny to $100 denominations. Sit down and enjoy Roulette, Texas Hold'em Poker, Craps, Black Jack or a little Three Card Poker.

As an owner I personally feel this is a great getaway for anyone who wants to relax in a wonderful environment.

It is very neat and clean. Fisherman will love the Spring and Fall along with anyone who would

love to take a Fall tour. It is beautiful here. There are many festivals here and so much to do. It is a great place for children with the park like setting behind the cottage. Please feel free to call me with any questions.

Cottage was pretty good.

  • 4 of 5

After having google maps take us to an abandoned road because of a road closure, we finally made it. The location is great. Being on the lake is very nice and the firepit was appreciated. It was not super clear as to which cottage it was on the property. Cottage was pretty clean, but could be better. Enough places for us to sleep, but bedrooms were tiny and not a lot of places for luggage to live, because there was little floor space. Bathroom was pretty good, but shower head made it very challenging to shower. Felt like we were being pelted with water and couldn't adjust it out of your face. There also were no towels or paper products. I think we missed that in the listing, so wanted others to know about it. Also very small water heater, so the four of us had to really wait a long time between showers so we weren't showing in freezing water. It was nice to have a stove because we did make breakfast each morning, but we learned quickly that the small size didn't allow for much to go into the oven, or the pans provided to really fit on the top. Took 40 minutes to bake biscuits that normally take 7 minutes. Overall we had a good time and enjoyed the cottage but I feel that there is room for improvement.

Annual Fall Trip to the Leelanau

  • 5 of 5

We have been staying in this cottage for a week every fall for more years than we can count. We've been through several owners and we always enjoy our stay. The location is perfect and the cottage is clean, comfortable and well appointed. We love the bike trails in the area and use West Wind as a springboard to take bicycle rides all around the peninsula and beyond. And the view from the cottage is spectacular. The water is a bit too chilly to swim in October, but just to see the changing of the seasons around Lake Leelanua is wonderful. The cottage was recently updated and all the appliances and bathroom have been updated. Just a GREAT place to stay.

Wonderful week, wonderful cabin!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was perfect for our family of 4 (and could easily house a larger family). The cabin had every thing we needed to prepare/eat meals and the place was extremely clean. The owners have done a wonderful job of updating and maintaining the cabin, we will definitely be back!

July visit to Lake Leelanau

  • 5 of 5

My family enjoyed our time on Lake Leelanau. It was our first time in the area and found the location perfect for our needs. The cottage was set up very nicely and fit our needs perfectly. Obviously it is a cottage---- but it felt spacious and we felt we had lots of room to spread out--grandparents, children, and toddler grandchild. We used the yard in front of the cottage and the beach area daily and we glad to have that gap so beach sand wasn't continually being dragged into the cottage. It was easy to keep tidy. We would be happy to use the cottage again in the future. **Wifi addition would be a nice plus.

Great Accommodations. Perfect Location. Nice Beach, Campfire. We Hope to Return.

Everything was up to our expectations. Parking paved for two vehicles. Water heater took good care of us until the 3rd shower in a row. Trailer storage for our boat trailer. All this made for a trouble free vacation and added to our enjoyment.

Our go-to place

  • 5 of 5

We love this house. It is so well kept inside - always clean, always neat. There is just the right amount of space for my family of four. The beds are comfortable and there is good storage for a week by the lake. The West Winds Resort area is perfect for couples or families with kids. We always use the beach a lot as well as the fire pit. The sunsets are also amazing!

It is easy to get from this lake house into Traverse City or other small cities around here!
