About Jennifer Wieting

Our family has lived in Little Compton since the town was settled, and we've owned our property for over one hundred years. We have a deep love of family and of Little Compton. The land surrounding our two houses is undeveloped. It is also now protected from development thanks to the town and our family! We hope you'll fall in love with Little Compton too.

What makes this house unique

This property is close to both the town center and the beaches. It is well managed and maintained. Our family summers in the main house located on the property if any questions should arise during your stay. The house is set back from the road on a large yard. It's a clean and comfortable house and can accommodate a good sized group. Our enormous yard (2 acres) is surrounded by protected agricultural land. You are welcome to bring your dog with our prior approval. Please be aware that we charge a flat fee of $100 if you bring a dog to cover extra wear and tear on the house. Please email us if you have date constraints. We try our best to accommodate our tenant's needs.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Rating: ***** Review by Pat from New York, NY

We (my wife and I, two other couples and three little boys) stayed here for a weekend when we were in town for a wedding. It was an absolutely adorable home that was just as advertised - maybe better. The place had a wonderful country home feel and the big yard with views of a vinyard and horses was just delightful. The location (close to town) was great for coffee and snack runs. The owners were wonderfully responsive and helpful all around. Two thumbs up!

Spectacular Views

  • 5 of 5

What a great place for a retreat from city life! The views of the sunset and countryside from the deck are gorgeous. The house is comfortable and spacious and the yard enormous. My wife and I stayed by ourselves but the ample room makes it ideal for accommodating our larger group of family and friends returning with us in the summer. The owners were very gracious as well as helpful and responded quickly to our questions/needs. We were pleased that they provided attractive linens and towels which made our packing easier. We highly recommend this home!!

Lovely, well kept propery

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I had a wonderful stay in Little Compton last weekend. The house was immaculate. Jenny was extremely helpful and attentive to all our needs. I am trying to understand the comments of the previous reviewer. We experienced none of the problems mentioned. In fact, the people who stayed prior to us actually left a beautiful bouquet of flowers as a thank you , which Jenny left for us to enjoy. I highly recommend this property to anyone who would like to experience the beauty of Little Compton. We enjoyed Wilbur's store, the Art Cafe and of course walking the beaches. Walker's farm stand has delicious fresh veggies even this late in the year.

A Disappointment

  • 2 of 5

We were very much looking forward to our stay in Little Compton especially after reading the previous reviews of this rental. Unfortunately we were disappointed. The house smelled VERY musty and old and we didn't get use to it while we were there. The home is very rustic and downstairs was roomy and comfortable, but the smell was overwhelming. Since the weather was cool and rainy, we couldn't open the windows to see if that would help, but tend to think not.

The lighting in the house was awful. Many of the lamps either didn't work, didn't have bulbs in them, or when you switched a switch, you didn't know what you were suppose to be turning on, and often nothing happened. The tenant who stayed before us left a message complaining about the same thing but it wasn't corrected.

Because the house is set in the back of another home, it is not well lit on the outside and neither was the home in the front. It is difficult to find the driveway opening (not even a reflector to show the opening) and to follow the driveway when it is dark and foggy as it was when we were there, was

difficult.

The linens, towels and kitchen were well stocked. We did have difficulty getting the stove top burners to light.

We will admit this is a gorgeous location. Picturesque yard and view.

We were very disappointed about the problems mentioned and are glad most of our activities were held at a different location.

Owner's Response: Thank you for sharing your concerns. One reason our home has never received a negative review until now is because we do our absolute best to keep our tenants satisfied. Feedback from our guests is taken very seriously and efforts are quickly made to rectify any issues they may have. I was not aware of any problems this guest experienced until after she and her group checked out of our home. On my walk through of the property I found her comments in our guestbook and immediately dealt with most of the issues on that same day. In the many years of renting our house we have never received any complaints about how it smells. It's unfortunate that the weather was cool, wet and rainy for these tenants during their stay. In the wet and humid environment of Little Compton on a rainy weekend, I'm not completely surprised that there could have been a musty oder. I purchased a pleasant smelling, all natural lavender air freshener and plugged it into the first floor laundry room (this was the only room where I smelled any trace of a musty oder). There were two lightbulbs out and one lamp that had a functional (yet problematic) pull chain. The bulbs have been replaced as well as the lamp. All of the other lights in the house worked upon my inspection. Some of our lights have both a wall switch and a lamp switch which is apparently confusing. We do have two motion sensor exterior lights on the property that are functioning. The addition of a third motion sensor light closer to our rental house entrance is a great suggestion. Our home is booked every weekend during the spring and fall as well as all summer. With the busy season now over we can access the house for any updates we may choose to make. Although the stovetop currently works, I had a hard time lighting two of the four burners. We have purchased a new gas stovetop that will be installed before the new year. In addition to the stovetop, we also have an oven as well as an outdoor gas grill that many of our tenants enjoy the using.

Charming, comfortable, clean, spacious

  • 5 of 5

Thoroughly enjoyed our girls weekend away in this very comfortable, beautiful home. Gorgeous sunset views in the backyard overlooking vast farmland and lots of balcony views from various bedrooms. Enjoyed the nook and crannies of this unique home that was not without modern amenities. Had lots of fun exploring Little Compton and hope to return soon! We all recommend very highly!

Such a beautiful place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

I loved the home and the property is gorgeous. It was the perfect place to stay for my wedding weekend. It felt very much like a home away from home for the weekend and Jennifer was very responsive when I had questions.

Historic home with lots of room

  • 4 of 5

A group of us stayed in this home for the weekend because friends of ours were getting married nearby. It had more than enough room for the 10 of us. It was also the perfect spot to have a few of the other guests over the night before the ceremony for a quiet gathering. Checking in and out was very smooth, and we found everything we needed in the house easily. All in all, it was a lovely refuge for the weekend!
