If you like beaches the way they are meant to be; quiet, serene and beautiful, then come visit our Seaside Escape in Kure Beach, NC!!! If you want a place to stay that is clean and comfortable as well as convenient... THIS is the place for you!
Our three bedroom, two bath townhouse is a two-story unit overlooking the Atlantic oceanfront. This is not a high rise, just three steps in the back door and three steps out the front door to the beach. From the master bedroom you can wake up with the sunrise and gaze out through french doors at the sand and waves crashing in on the shore (right from your bed). The view is amazing!
There is an additional upstairs bedroom that has a double bed and two twins (the kids will love this colorful room). Finally there is a third bedroom with a queen size bed and second bath downstairs (great for elderly guests needing a first floor unit). You can enjoy ocean front views from the porch swing and rockers on the upstairs deck or from the first floor covered porch (loaded with benches and rockers) - either place the ocean breeze makes the climate just perfect.
You may be on vacation, but you'll feel like you're at home. We offer a fully-equipped kitchen with all the major/minor appliances (ie. cable TV, VCR/DVD, microwave, coffee pot, toaster, blender and dishwasher). You'll be able to relax or entertain, whatever you like!
When you come inside from the beach feel like you never left. A classic nautical theme can be found throughout the house. From the murals on the walls, to the waves and shells, you'll find the decor is nothing less than soothing and inviting.
As for local activities, you can find much to do. Choose from the newly expanded and renovated Aquarium at Historic Fort Fisher to the Cape Fear Museum in downtown Wilmington or something as simple as taking a short 4 block stroll to see what they're catching on the Kure Beach pier. Check out http://www.pleasureislandnc.org for local events, activities and festivals. There is always something going on here!
If you tire of fishing or swimming, you are conveniently located right between the two Historic towns of Wilmington and Southport. Wilmington is just 16 miles north. There you can visit the U.S.S. North Carolina Battleship (maybe even catch an old flick on the deck one evening) or take a stroll down the beautiful waterfront streets for an endless choice of shopping and dining. There are also a lot of fun indoor activities (google Wilmington: Bounce House, Defy Gravity, Jungle Rapids, Mayfair Cinemas and Wilmington Children's Museum for example). Either way you are covered on those 'rainy days' with indoor activities in this area!
Less than six miles south you can hop on a short ferry ride to the quaint town of Southport or Bald Head Island. You will probably recognize this town from such films as 'I Know What You Did Last Summer,' 'Matlock', 'Domestic Disturbance', or the more recent 'Safe Haven'. If you're a movie buff take a tour of the local Screen Gem Studios and see where many movies have been made such as 'Iron Man III' as well as where 'Dawson's Creek' and 'Sleepy Hollow' was taped.
Worried about what to do with the kids? Take them to Jungle Rapids to enjoy the water park, go-carts, and miniature golf. You will not want to miss the zoo either. A zoo at the beach you ask? You've got it... or actually we do! Tregembo's Animal Park (previously known as'Tote-em-in Zoo') has many animals ranging from the ones you'd like to pet to the ones that you know to stay away from. Lions and Tigers and Bears, oh my!
If you really like amusement parks; take a day trip to busy Myrtle Beach and go to the Pavilion (little more than an hour away). While you're there check out 'Pirate's Voyage,' 'Ripley's Believe It or Not,' and Broadway at the Beach, or just stroll the boardwalk... then come home to your quiet beachfront town.
For those golfers in your group; you will find several local courses (some even championship) to challenge your golfing skills.
Don't forget all the shopping, dining, and sightseeing! With the warmer temperatures in prime season complemented by the mild temperatures in the off season; as well as the area attractions and friendly local residents... you'll find our townhouse a great vacation spot year round!

We are local owners! We bought this property in 2001 while we were looking for a place to vacation for ourselves. We fell in love with the location and the appeal of owning a home on the beach. Since then we have also moved to Kure Beach and are raising our children here (2 girls and a boy). We love Pleasure Island and the small town community feeling it offers. We are also Mortgage Brokers and can help you fulfill your dream of owning your own Seaside Escape! Here on the island we love all the activities offered at the Carolina Beach Boardwalk in the summer: charter fishing tours, party boat tours, family movies by the lake, paddle boating, the amusement park (summer only), surf lessons, beach bingo, fireworks and world famous doughnuts. We enjoy visiting the NC Aquarium along with Historic Fort Fisher, driving out to the north end of Carolina Beach (Freeman Park) to camp for the day on the beach. We like riding our bikes onto the ferry and over to the little town of Southport. We can't believe we actually live here and get to enjoy this all year! We are thrilled to be able to share our 2nd home on the beach with you and hope that you will enjoy it as much as we do! Best of all, if you need anything we are minutes away.
Robyn purchased this Townhome in 2001
Why Robyn chose Kure Beach
I grew up vacationing in Myrtle Beach, SC and my husband at Nags Head, NC. We found Kure Beach to be a wonderful alternative! It is located on an island about 11 miles long and consists of three small towns Carolina Beach, Kure Beach and Historic Fort Fisher. It is not the commercialized or tourist attracting town of Myrtle Beach. (We love to visit there but make it a day trip) Kure Beach consists mostly of cottages which are 2nd homes or primary residences. There are lots of wonderful restaurants, shopping and local activities offered year round. This property has private parking, spectacular views, and nice size rooms. One of it's best features is that it's ground level (4 steps up and you're in the door).
What makes this Townhome unique
There is always some kind of small town festival, farmers market, concert, fishing tournament or local race happening on this island - but it is never crowded. One of the secret advantages of this island is a back road (Dow Rd) which runs along the government owned property lines that allows you to drive from practically one end of the island to the other at 55mph. If you know about this little local secret, traffic is never a problem. Check out the Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce's website for local events and happenings. www.pleasureislandchamber.org They don't call it 'Pleasure Island' for nothing!

My friends and I recently stayed at the wonderful "Seaside Escape." The view was magnificent. Upon walking through the front door, I felt relaxed and at home. Much to our surprise, we found everything needed for a day at the beach on the back porch. What a picture we made, three teenage girls, building sandcastles like toddlers! Although we had planned activites everyday of our week long trip, we spent most of our time sitting on the beach or in the rocking chairs on the back porch, watching the waves breaking. The home was spotless and, surprisingly, the description was perfect. Everything that was stated on the webpage was found in the home. The paintings found on the wall and the furniture chosen to decorate the home, gave the place a beachy atmosphere. Saving our luggage, we did come across board games in one of the upstairs closets. Ecstatic, we pulled one down and played after dinner that night as the storm rolled in. On the weekends the beach was not as crowded as either of us would have anticipated and during the week it was empty. We ordered pizza from Michelanglo's on our first night. It was edible, but disappointing to anyone who was raised on Pizza Hut. We did drive up to Wrightsville Beach to do some shopping and ate at the South Beach Grill. It was fantastic, as was King Neptune's. I recommend trying the Jamaican Chicken at King Neptune's, unless you are not one for spicy eatings. In Carolina Beach, which is only about ten minutes from the townhouse, there is a grocery store to supply you with all of your food needs, as well as a movie rental business. Wings, a surf shop, can also be found in Carolina Beach. This is where we did most of our souvenir shopping for ourselves, family, and friends. Everyone that we ran into were extremely nice, as was the owners of the townhouse. Throughout the week, they called to check up on us and make sure that everything was absolutely perfect. The only downside I found was the absence of a DVD player. A VCR is supplied, but in an age when VCR tapes have become arcaic, having one is almost pointless. Especially when the movie rental businesses are beginning to only carry DVDs. Other than that, our stay was magnificent. Each and everyone of us would recommend this vacation spot to all of our friends and families. I would certainly recommend it to all of you reading this at the moment. Lastly, I would like to thank the owners for providing us with a memorable trip. We will talk about it for years to come.
Definition of beachfront!
This location cannot be beat! You step off the porch and are literally at the beach. Also, close enough to walk to the pier and restaurants. The upstairs bedrooms and bathroom are spacious enough. The first floor felt a bit tight for 4 adults and 2 kids and the kitchen could use some updates, which is the reason for 4 stars. Another thing that would be great is adding a cable tv to each bedroom. Cable tv is currently only available in the master bedroom. I would absolutely stay at this location again.
Step onto the sand and into the ocean at Seaside Escape
This condo was perfect for my sister and me to visit, relax and en joy the beach, even though it rained each day we were there. It was comfortable, clean, convenient to the beach and quiet since we were there after Labor Day. I rented the condo because my sister loves the sound of the ocean at night and is a beach person who does not live near a beach. I live in Wilmington and was so glad she thought this artistically decorated beach condo was perfect for our short trip. We are already planning another vacation to Seaside Escape. It is the best stocked property I have ever rented and is especially suited to families with children.
Seaside Escape was exactly as described...........clean, cozy and great location. Five of us ladies spent a week together at Kure Beach. The sleeping arrangements were perfect with plenty of room for us to hang out in the evening. The owners live local and were more than gracious to fulfill our every need. The location is perfect as it is close to Wilmington and walking distance to the Ft. Fisher beaches. The fishing pier is also a short walk.
Great for families, so close to the beach.
This unit was clean, comfortable, quiet, and right there on the beach. The beach is this area was not very busy, so there was plenty of room for us to spread out. The unit is on the main street through town, so it is convenient to go to attractions, boardwalks, or shops. The town is a gem, too. The unit has a number of sand toys for the kids, along with some beach chairs. We went to the aquarium, fort, state park, and the battleship in Wilmington. We had no issues with the condo. The upper balcony is great for relaxing and watching the sea. I might suggest bringing some dark curtains if you don't want your small kids to wake up with the sun each day.
Thanks for the 5 out of 5!! Glad you enjoyed it! Please come again.
Great place right on the ocean
We loved this place! Less crowded than Carolina Beach, but close enough to enjoy the restaurants and other offerings there. The condo is right on the beach, just a sand dune away. The upper and lower decks meant we could enjoy the water, the sun, the moon, the winds, the clouds -- all of it! -- all day. We particularly enjoyed early mornings watching the sunrise from our bedroom deck. Robyn is a delightful hostess -- knowledgeable and so responsive! We would recommend this house to anyone looking for an Oceanside vacation.
So glad you enjoyed your time at our Seaside Escape! Hope you will come again!!!
