Guestbook comments from the owner

There were 6 guys that stayed the weekend and the cabin had everything we needed and more. We had a great time, easy to find resturants and were a 10 min. drive away or so. We will consider this house next year for our trip north. The owners were great and explained everything to a tee.

Thanks from the Elkhart boys!

Peaceful Log home getaway

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a nice, peaceful getaway, this is the right place to be. Bruce the owner was very helpful and very nice with us. My kids had the best time. The Beach is like 3 minutes away, they had a blast. We will definitely go back and enjoy another week. Nights are just beautiful and peaceful. Property was clean and he provides a lot staff that we don't need to worry about bringing with us.

Cozy Cabin

  • 5 of 5

I've been to this cabin a few times now and every time it is such a wonderful experience. When I hear the definition of cozy, this is the place that comes to mind. With three bedrooms, a full kitchen, and lots of yard to grill, have a bonfire, or just walk by the lake, this place is awesome! I highly recommend spending a week or weekend here. The owner Bruce is extremely helpful and accommodating as well. Definitely will be back!

Greate cabin not too far from Chicago.

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week in June and it was a great time. The territory is large and has private trails. There are canoes/boats which we used a lot. The cabin matches description and had everything needed for a vacation, we just brought food.

And it's only 10 min drive from St. Joseph with all its summer attractions.

Memorable Family Getaway

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was in great shape and ready to enjoy. The location is perfect. Between the all the u-pick produce farms, beachfront and nearby lakefront cities this cabin provided many family memories. We brought our three kids ages 4, almost 2 and a 7 month old. We were a little apprehensive that the cabin might provide some small person challenges but between the excellent condition of the cabin, and some well thought out accommodations those issues were soon put to rest. For example, there were 2 gates (we also brought one just in case), and a high chair. This proved to add safety reassurance for us parents. Between books and some family friendly games we spent the majority of out “down time” interacting with each other. The cabin is well suited for personal time (as there are quiet nooks) and family gathering time. The trails around the cabin are well mowed providing great hiking for kids, not too long but not too short either. Each day we explored another part of the 15 acres. A small toddler sized play set provided a chance for my oldest to teach my middle how to climb up the side and slide down. There was a fire grill perfect for my s’mores eaters. The biggest winner in the activities was of course the rowboat. My oldest son started the week being afraid of going in the rowboat. By the end he was asking everyday if we could go out again. Safety vests were available in many sizes to accommodate big and little “kids”. On the outside there are a number of unobtrusive solar lights that illuminate the deck and around the outside of the cabin and did not interfere with the view of the stars. There were also night lights that illuminated key safety areas on the inside. This made it very easy to walk around the cabin at night without having to find a light switch. Within a 15 minute drive there are blueberry and peach picking farms, world class chocolates, a dinosaur statue park, and beautiful beaches. In nearby St Joseph there are 2 kid museums, an old time carousel and of course an expansive beach. In South Haven, we found gift shops, bakeries, fudge and ice cream and again a beach. If you’re looking to do a farm, beach, cabin vacation with some focused family themes you really can’t go wrong. The cabin not only provided a convenient resting place as perhaps a hotel/condo option could but provided the perfect backdrop and added to the character of our family experience.

As good as everyone is saying

  • 5 of 5

We rented this place because of the reviews and it is everything you hope it would be. Clean, cozy, relaxing. We have 6 daughters and we took away all electronic devices. Spent the weekend reading, doing puzzles, (cheated and watched a few movies), bonfire, drove to Benton Harbor. It was so nice and unplug for a weekend and spend time with the family. Super clean, and really cozy.

The Hagar Shores area rests along Lake Michigan between St. Joseph to the south and South Haven to the north. The towns of Coloma-Watervliet are a few miles to the east. Rolling country roads and small farms dotting the countryside, but only a short drive to antique shopping, golf, wineries, county fairs and festivals, Lake Michigan and the many inland lakes for fishing and boating. Come see why people keep coming back to Southwest Michigan.
