We have 2 studio apartments available, both on the first floor.
Studio 1 has 2 single beds, living area with settee and dining table, fully equipped kitchen, full bathroom and west facing balcony.
Studio 2 - 2 single beds, living area, fully equipped kitchen, shower room and very large balcony which occupies the entire corner of the building with superb views straight out to sea.
We stayed in this apartment January 2010, the two buildings are in a good location next to beach and close to the centre of Marbella. However they are 1970s build and in need of a refurbishment, that is not necessarily a major concern, however the apartments decor, furnishings and equipment do not appear to have been updated since the 1970s and appears very tired. So if you have high standards you may be disappointed.
Having said that we enjoyed our holiday.
This studio is ideally located with sea-views and also overlooks the main swimming-pool. It was spotlessly clean and someone had thoughtfully left a few tea-bags and milk!
The shower unit is on its last legs and could do with an upgrade. More importantly, the hot water supply was unreliable. Some mornings, it was a cold shower or nothing else!
The hot water for the sink was rarely even hand warm, so we had to boil the kettle to wash up. The power to the kettle was faint, so it took approx. 5 mins to wait for it to boil. The toaster didn't work so we used the oven grill. This was fine but a waste of power!
The balcony needs a lick of fresh paint, but the views from it are glorious!
We'd pre-paid for air-con which wasn't needed! The sea breeze kept the appartment cool. Maybe later in the season it would be more essential.
We enjoyed the location of the studio and would certainly consider returning.
My teenage godson and I (66) spent 3 weeks in August in the 1st floor , 1 bedroom Skol apartment. The location is superb, I could just sit on my balcony and watch the sea, the beach and all the people strolling on the promenade. I loved the mature garden with wonderful, well cared for flowers, plants and giant old palm trees. The best thing is the beach-level "adult only" pool, where I always could enjoy 1 hour of peaceful swimming in the evening, nearly by myself in the huge olympic size pool. My godson enjoyed the proximity to the nightlife, where I could watch him stroll on the promenade from my balcony. We both sampled and enjoyed all the restaurants around Skol and I particularly loved to sit in the vast shady park across Arias Maldonado and go to the theater there for the best authentic flamenco show I have ever seen! The appartment itself was very clean, adequately furnished, although very tiny. The whole building is very old and shows it (rusty balcony rails, popcorn painting inside and outside , cracks in the walls and above all , in this appartment a waterfall from the outside AC unit, which came down on the balcony every time we shut off the AC, also the corridors seem very dark and dingy with their green felt-carpets, but hey, what do you want, you are in Paradise!) I am using a mobility scooter and what I did not like was the impossibility to get a key for the handicapped exit right in my building, in spite of many attempts. The exit with a scooter from the main entrance is somewhat difficult and I always had to wait for some kind stranger to hold the door open for me. I would return to Skol anytime!
I really enojoyed my stay at Skol the apartment was comfortable and spacious. There was a very laid back feeling to the place ideal for relaxing. The views were great even if the weather let us down.
Situated just off the front only two minutes away from the Restaurants, Bars and the Beach, the location is excellent. The reception area is large and could do with updating, the staff were as helpfull as possible but spoke limited English. The corridors leading to the room look as though they are being refurbished, sheets of polythene laid out everywhere and it certainly needed it. There is a pool and loungers in the pleasant garden area. The Studio itself was well equipped and nicely furnished, clean and well presented. Cooker, Microwave,TV, kettle and iron all provided. There are numerous resaurants/bars around we liked the ones further back from the front which were more authentic spanish eateries, and a bar up the road for drinking, called friends which was extremely friendly. There is a Health complex within a short walk, which provides swimming and general gym equipment, in fact Skol is situated in a very central location within easy reach of all facilites, the one big problem and this is anywhere in Marbella is Parking which is an absolute nightmare, there is an underground car park close by and it would be worth enquiring at the hotel for a dedicated space. I would definitely recommend the Skol Apartments, although not a luxury complex we found it to be pleasant and clean worthy of a 3*-in fact we are returning there 27th December 2008
