Why Mary Ann Hale chose Tremont
Beautiful and serene location overlooking Blue Hill Bay and adjacent to nature conservancy with about 1/2 mile of wonderful ocean front to explore. Take out our canoe and explore the nearby shore and watch for wildlife--seals, dolphins, osprey, bald eagles. If you are looking for a peaceful stress free getaway, this is the place for you.
What makes this House unique

Beautiful view, direct beach access, really nice and well-maintained home
We had a wonderful stay. Full view of the entire bay from almost every room. Easy access to the beach, perfect for skimming stones and beach glass collecting. The house is very cozy and very tastefully decorated. We especially appreciated the high quality matresses and the fully equipped kitchen. Highly recommended if you want to get away from it all and just relax but still have all the ameneties. Thanks so much, we‘ll be back!
Wishing I was there again.
The house was spotless and comfortable. Richard was gracious and checked in with us. He was very helpful when I had a car issue. Beautiful serene views.Fully equipped kitchen.
We had a wonderful week here! We especially loved the private location with stunning views from every window. It feels remote but is actually only a few minutes from Southwest Harbor and only 30 min to Bar Harbor. The house is spacious and clean and well-equipped. We would definitely stay again...thank you xx
This rental unit easily lives up to it's description! Beautifully furnished.
We (8 adults & 6 kids ranging from toddler to teen) spent a week in August at the Cove House & Carriage House to celebrate our 50th anniversary. The property easily matches and exceeds it's description. The location in Tremont is private & quiet, but offered suitable access to the rest of Mt Desert & Acadia. Our hosts, Mary Ann & Richard were very helpful with any questions, always available, but never intrusive. Having arrived following a week of rainy weather, there were mosquitoes, but we managed to hike on the beach, skip a lot of rocks & the kids swam every day. Did we mention the gardens are beautiful? Inside we found a very home-like atmosphere with much attention to the needs of family living. The table and counter seating were adequate and the kitchen was the best ever, with very modern appliances in great working order, plenty of granite counter space and stocked with dinnerware & utensils and we used the kitchen for almost all our meals. The beds and bedrooms were comfortable & well cared-for, some with balconies & views to the bay.
We purchased lobsters at Beal's in Southwest Harbor for one evening's meal & a big hit was the propane-fired lobster pot available to prepare the lobsters outside.
All in all we enjoyed our stay very much; enjoyed the natural beauty of the isalnd; did lots of hiking and felt the Cove House was a great place to return to each evening! We can confidently recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful & comfortable place to stay on Mt Desert Island. Sincerely, Mary & Jim K
Accommodations were especially good in the kitchen
We normally cook meals when we rent and we had everything we needed to prepare meals for up to 18 people.
The only bad situation were the twin beds upstairs. Because they were narrow, my 3 year old grandson fell out twice. We also had lots of mosquitoes so we couldn’t enjoy the water. In general, very happy.
Quiet location, beautifully decorated, great layout for family and friends
Our party of six enjoyed the "quiet side" of Mount Desert Island after dealing with traffic and crowds in Acadia National Park. The property has a fully equipped kitchen and large dining room which made meals in the home wonderful. Comfortable beds and living area. The friendly hosts met us at check-in and provided great advice. Mary Ann's fluent French helped our French-speaking guests feel comfortable. Games, books, and movies were available. Close to Southwest Harbor and Bass Harbor.
Located in close proximity to Acadia National Park and only a stone's throw from the ocean. Nearby lakes for swimming, kayaking or canoeing in lakes and ocean, Cycling on Park Carriage roads or on nearby Islands via ferries, summer theatre, music festivals, shopping in Bar Harbor, whale watching, golf, tennis, hiking all available nearby.
Other Activities: Kayaking, Acadia National Park activities, free Island bus.
