Unspoilt countryside, far enough south for hot summer weather, only 6 hours drive from Normandy ports and well served with flights to Limoges, Bergerac and Brive.

This is a lovely property set in extensive grounds. The photographs don't do it justice. The bedrooms are all a decent size and there's a large kitchen with a big table. The outside barbeque/eating area is in a lovely spot with views over wooded hills to an old church on the horizon. Free wifi works all over the house and in the immediate vicinity outside. The pool is great but we couldn't find cushions for the recliners. There are a couple of large barns which you can park in keeping the cars cool. There's a supermarket in Hautfort about 15 minutes drive away and nice restaurants in Hautfort and St Agnan. There are lots of waymarked trails in the area and bikes are provided if you want to try something more energetic than walking. I'd quite happily holiday there again.

On the Dordogne - Correze border, although hilly this area is excellent for walking or cycling. Sightseeing trips could include Hautefort (15k) and its château (there's also horse riding, tennis, canoeing, balloon trips etc), or Pompadour (20k) which also has a beautiful castle and is famous for its national stud and racecourse.
