This apartment is in a very peaceful location. With the balcony door open, you can hear the sea lapping up on the beach and the birds singing.
We really enjoyed our time in Howth, I highly recommend this area for anyone looking to stay a little bit outside of Dublin. The location of the apartment was close to the DART station to take in and out of Dublin and a quick train ride. We also enjoyed a round of golf at the course across the street and the village is great for dinner and hiking! Marian was very responsive to our initial inquiry and questions.
The place was very big and the two full baths were great to have as well. I will say a good deep clean is probably needed as there was sand throughout the apartment, but you are right next to the beach, so that could be expected :) We enjoyed the patio in the morning and the beach access to the village was very nice. We also had issues with the wifi while we were there similar to the other reviews, which being in a foreign country is sort of a must have in your home base to contact family, etc, but overall the apartment is a great place to stay and very secure!
This 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartment was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The views of the bay from the living room are wonderful, and I found it a pleasure to leave Dublin's hustle at the end of the day and return to peaceful Howth. We didn't have a car, and the walk to and from the train is about 1/3 of a mile. My only complaint was that we faced a very unpleasant security guard when we first arrived who didn't want to let us in. Thankfully a passing neighbor helped us out by calling the owner who convinced him to finally to let us in. After that, the stay was very pleasant and Marian was very accommodating.
The flat has everything! We would stay there again with pleasure!
We stayed here for three nights and the apartment is well situated to get the DART into Dublin but still has that fishing village feel. I could have stayed here for a week. Our three days went far to fast. It is a gated community with 24 hour security and walking distance to the harbour and excellent restaurants. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Would certainly book again.
This was an outstanding rental! Extremely close to town and the Dart. Right on the beach for fantastic sunrises and beach walking. Howth was such a fantastic fishing village with wonderful food, sights and a small amount of shopping. Make sure to go up the hill to visit the clothing boutiques :) Very old cemetery was tucked away on the walk up the hill - don't miss it!
Local restaurants were OUTSTANDING. You really can't miss with any of them - we didn't find any that we didn't like. Even our teenagers got a flatbread pizza on a day they just didn't feel like a full dinner. Local establishments like "The Bloody Stream" were top notch with entertainment and food. And definitely make a stop at "Top Dog"...even if its just for wine and dessert. Cannot top the atmosphere!
Secure complex - security was very nice but made sure we were supposed to be there :) Helped us contact a taxi service for our trip back to the airport.
Have ALREADY given out the booking information to a friend so I can honestly say, we will be recommending it to family and friends. It will be the place we re-visit if we have an opportunity to get back to Ireland!
Just to add...because I am all about disclosure....the Wifi is tricky. It is on a "re-loadable" modem and that made it hard when the teenagers wanted to be in touch with friends after a long day of sightseeing. Just know when booking that being online might be touchy. We were in contact with the owner and she was always on top of "topping off" the Wifi usage but when it would go out in the evenings - after business hours- we couldn't get back online until the next day. This DOES NOT take away from our 5 star rating for this rental unit by any means.
This is an amazing unit and as a first time user of hoe away, I would definitely recommend and will be back
This location is perfect...10 minutes to the dart, restaurants and shopping. The unit is well equipped and provides stunning views over Dublin bay
I truly wished I had more time there to explore and enjoy
Howth is a place where the past meets the present, mixing its history and legend with the vibrancy and originality of today. Its an ideal place to come and stay or visit for a day trip. Howth's leisurely ambience, wonderful scenery, friendly people and charming restaurants and bars ensure you'll be back to visit us once more. At its heart is Howth harbour with its fishing trawlers and yachting marina - Howth Yacht Club. Howth is best discovered on foot and the waterfront and piers are a good starting point on your exploration of the area. They afford a great view of the enchanting Ireland's Eye offshore and of the village itself.
