Overview

El Cerro Bungalow Rental Photos and Description

Bungalow, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-6)

Casa Mono Coco is a distinctive two story A-frame Teak and Stucco House nestled in a tranquil jungle setting one mile South of Quepos and two miles North of Costa Rica's world famous Manuel Antonio National Park. Casa Mono Coco is air-conditioned for your comfort and has many glass doors and windows through which the jungle view is maintained. Downstairs find a fully furnished living room, bathroom and kitchen with glass doors opening onto the large screened, terrazo patio where you have the use of two twin beds and find yourself dining in nature. Through the far back door is the planned expansion for an additional garden terrace after this current high season has finished.

Back inside the house, up the spiral stairs is located the spacious bedroom with glass windows looking out over the jungle garden to the front, and to the rear, sliding glass doors opening onto the large teak and almendro veranda. From this veranda you have a unique view of the rainforest and right above you, in the trees, our band of Titi monkeys has a highway they use to travel from one side of the garden to another.

On the grounds you will find Coco Palms and other trees with edible fruit ripe for the blender, as well as ferns, bromeliads and orchids. When it rains, the garden sounds of Costa Rica's famed tree frogs echo from all sides and the tiny Green and Black Poison Dart Frogs may come out of hiding. We have flitting fireflies and glow-worms flashing signals to them. By day the area abounds with Capuchin, Titi and sometimes the mysterious Congo Monkeys. You will encounter Black Iguanas sunning in unexpected places, Two and Three Toed Sloths, and enormously mysterious butterflies where the male and the female are entirely unalike. Swimming at night in Casa Mono Coco's pool yields a star-studded sky unlike that known in North America.

Why Chanon chose Quepos

What makes this bungalow unique

Nature at its Best in a land of enchantment and mystery surrounding the rainforests of Central America.

Guestbook comments from the owner

John and Lisa commented in the CasaMonoCoco guest book: "This place is a terrific find! My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed staying here, the monkeys, the people, all added to our vacation stay. The weather was perfect for daily surfing, fishing was great, and the house is lovely. It is high enough in the tree tops to make it seem like you are part of the jungle without infringing on it, it is very quiet and it is a lovey place to enjoy a vacation sans civilization. The manager of the place was always around and attentive to our every need. He was able to arrange transportation and tours to suit us including a weekend visit to the wild Osa Peninsula. Carlos Mora, friend of the owner, was able to provide an overnight trip to the mountains to view the Witch's Caldron which was an excellent way to see a real slice of Costa Rican life.

Take a day trip to the Naranjo River and under the Londres Bridge have a refreshing river swim complimented by homemade sweets from Ronulfo's Tienda. Lunch choices include a substantial meal outdoors of Bar-BQ ribs with yucca washed down with local brews from Cokie's Casa Casuelda or a casada and fresh Costa Rican beer from Brisas Del Nara. A night trip to Londres gives you a view of Southern constellations and a full moon from a very different perspective.

General activities in the area of Casa Mono Coco are astonishingly multifaceted: snorkeling, surfing, fishing, kayaking, bungee jumping, wildlife viewing & photography, Spanish Language Schools, Massage & Yoga, Sun Bathing & shelling. Quepos has three gyms for a more organized approach to exercise and follows the weekend tradition of a Farmer's Market including delicious hand-churned butter and home-made pies and cakes. For deep sea fishing, take a boat out of our beautiful new Quepos Marina.
