Please note: This house has just been put on the market for sale. We will be able to take bookings up to January 2018. Other later dates may become available in January 2018 if the house hasn't sold by then so please still contact me so I can keep you informed.
This stunning detached house is in the unspoilt, peaceful village of Salir do Porto, just 5 minutes walk from the beach and the famous Salir sand dunes. Only 3 minutes drive from the lovely resort of Sao Martinho do Porto, with its crescent shaped bay. The house is in enclosed grounds with a shared swimming pool. The house is on a small condominium of 7 houses with a shared 10x4m pool.
Our house has 4 large bedrooms on the first floor and also a separate playroom with sofa bed, which can be used as a 5th bedroom. Part of the basement has been converted into a games room with table tennis, darts and table football, plenty to keep older kids happy for hours! Fixed internet from May 2014 so free WiFi for all.
There are several traditional Portuguese restaurants within 5/10 minutes walk of the house and many more in Sao Martinho at the other end of the bay....a 5 minute drive or a 25 minute saunter along the board-walk.
The area has so much to offer with the beautiful walled city of Obidos just 15 minutes away, 3 top quality golf courses within 40 minutes drive, lovely seaside resorts, 2 water-parks and plenty of opportunity for walking, climbing, water sports. The list is endless.

About Debra Shally
We are Debra & Tony Shally from Birmingham. Our children are Amy, age 17, and Max, age 14. They love the pool and 'steak on the stone ' in the local restaurant. Max is quite keen on games room too!!
Debra Shally purchased this House in 2009
Why Debra Shally chose Salir do Porto
We had never holidayed in this region but came to visit with a view to maybe, possibly, perhaps getting a house. Needless to say we fell in love with the unspoilt area and put a deposit down.
What makes this House unique
The Silver Coast may not have the wall to wall sunshine and baking heat of the Algarve but we love it's unspoilt beaches, traditional towns, great and cheap restaurants and variety of things to do and see.

Salir and Sao Martinho are well situated for many places to visit. Sao Martinho comes alive in the summer, with loads of bars and restaurants. The beach has lots of activities for children, banana boat, pedaloes and bouncy assault course in the middle of the bay. If you want a little peace from all the action, Salir is the other side and more peaceful part of the bay. The whole of the bay is very safe for swimming as there are no waves. For any surfer dudes there are plenty of big waves to be found in Foz do Arelho and Peniche.
The nearest town is Caldas da Rainha which is a 20 min drive with a lovely wooded park and plenty of lovely shops on its small streets. Obidos, the 2nd most visited place in Portugal, is 15 mins drive away. This beautiful walled city is a must to visit. You might be lucky and be there for Chocolate Festival, Medieval Festival or Christmas Wonderland. The lagoon with Obidos on one shore and Foz d'Arelho on the other is a great place to swim and do water sports.
The quaint seaside resort of Nazare is 15 mins by car, it has a water park for the kids and a funicular railway up to the old town. Further afield there are Alcobaca and Batalha with their monasteries and Leira with its castle and shopping! The Basilica and Sanctuary at Fatima are world famous The caves at Mira d'Aire ( and other places) and very interesting and very dark!! Peniche, 20 minutes drive away, boasts a larger water park and beautiful beaches, and the Belengas Island if you fancy a boat trip.
Lisbon is also easily reached in just over an hour...if you don't want the drive in Lisbon you can drive and park at start of metro system and get a train in. The city is easy to navigate with the metro system. It has great museums and monasteries. Popular with the kids are the Oceanarium and Science Museum at the Park of Nations.
We have been going to this area as a family, with Amy (now 13) and Max (now 11), for 6 years ans still keep finding new places to visit.
