Overview

Kauai House Rental Photos and Description

3 bedroom, 2.5 bath vacation house, ocean & waterfall views, walk to beach, WiFi

This lovely Hanalei Bay vacation rental home, is a classic Hawaiian style pole house - suspended on poles giving the house fabulous circulation of the cooling ocean breezes. The location and the views are unbeatable for a relaxing beach vacation. From nearly every room in the house you can see Kawaikini and the stunning Makana ridge (also known as Bali Hai), these mountians which are often flowing with beautiful waterfalls and a view over the third green of the Makai golf course.

This three bedroom villa is located walking distance to nearly everything you want to do in Hawaii from surfing, snorkeling, golf, lovely walks and paddleboarding to the 5 star amenities of the St Regis Hotel (formerly the Princeville Hotel) which is less than 100 meters from the Villa. The hotel has great restaurants, a spa and an elevator or steps that takes you right down to the beach where Hanalei Bay meets the Pacific Ocean. The fun and funky town of Hanalei is about a 5 minute drive from the villa or wade from the Princeville beach.

The Prince golf course is also less than 10 minute drive from the villa. The Prince is ranked as Golf Digest’s #1 Golf Course in Hawai’i and one of America’s Top 100 Greatest Courses.

Hike the Kalalau trail, snorkel Ke'e or Tunnels, you are only a short drive away! Hideaways, the best snorkeling on the island in my opinion , is right across the road from the house, a 5 minute walk. Sunsets are unsurpassed from the ocean bluff just up the road, which looks directly out at Bali Hai, a 3 minute walk

This lovely Villa has an open plan living room, dining area and kitchen with fabulous high vaulted ceilings and sliding glass doors leading out to a lanai which will be the perfect place for you to enjoy everything from your morning coffee to cocktails watching the sunset. The living and dining room are very comfortable and there is a flat screen TV, there is also a DVD player, and stereo with radio and MP3 connections. . The kitchen has granite counter tops and is extremely well equipped, much more like a home than a vacation rental and all the dishes and glassware have an island touch. Perfect for preparing great meals for friends and family. The whole of this upstairs area has dramatic views of Makana ridge, Hanalei Bay and the golf course. There is a half bath on this floor. You can enjoy both sunrise and sunsets from the home's two private lanais!

There are three bedrooms downstairs all with high quality linens. The master bedroom has a California king bed, TV, master bathroom and a private Lanai, with more of the same beautiful views of the bay, the Makai golf course and mountains. The second bedroom has a queen bed and more beautiful views of the mountains, golf course and bay. The third bedroom has 2 twin beds and just like the other bedrooms, beautiful views of the mountains and golf course. Bedroom 2 & 3 share a bathroom.

Island motif is felt throughout the home along with great circulation from all sides of the villa, to help catch the island breezes on those warm days and nights. We also include are boogie boards, snorkel gear, beach towels, beach chairs and other necessities to make your Hawaiian vacation perfect.

About Lynda English-Bervid

Homeowner is a highly regarded general contractor in Lake Tahoe

Lynda English-Bervid purchased this house in 2007

Why Lynda English-Bervid chose Kauai

Homeowner wanted a well built free standing home. He loved the 'pole house' which allowed great ventilation and a tree house feel and was captivated by the amazing panoramic views of both Hanalei Bay and the stunning waterfalls in the ridge lines of Makana Ridge. He also wanted to be able to walk to beaches, bars and restaurants. Having the ability to walk from the house to go surfing, swimming and paddleboarding was a huge attraction.

What makes this house unique

Being owned by a builder who often stays in the property, this property is well maintained and continually being updated.

Fabulous in every way!

  • 5 of 5

We recently returned home after an amazing stay at the Hanalei Bay Villas. The unit was immaculate and well maintained, the kitchen was well equipped, and the view was fabulous. We enjoyed walking to Hideaways Beach, Queen's Bath, and to a nice snorkeling beach down below the Regis Hotel, where we also had a delightful lunch at their beachside restaurant. The location of the unit was just a short drive to the town of Hanalei Bay, where we enjoyed some delicious meals, to Tunnel's Beach, where we did some great snorkeling, to Kilauea Lighthouse where we viewed magnificent birds, and to lovely shops in Princeville marketplace. All in all we had a wonderful week, and will look forward to returning to such a perfect spot as soon as we can.

The detailed information we received from the owner and from VRBO prior to our trip was all very helpful, and the customer service was as good as it gets.

We had a great time and the view from your home is spectacular!

  • 5 of 5

This is our second time staying at this property and it is a great place to stay to see the north shore.

Everyday waking up to the amazing views of the Hanalei Valley, bay and mountain range.

My phones and tablets are filled with unbelievable pics and scenery.

Night breezes and unbelievable sunsets happen every day and you can walk to the St.Regis, Secret Beach and runs along the Makai golf course with the views beside it.

We hope to return again soon.

Perfect!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! This villa is light and bright, clean and comfortable! The views all around are amazing. You see Hanalai Bay, the beautiful mountains, waterfalls, and rainbows. In summer, the sun sets over the ocean right across the street. We walked across the street to Hideaways Beach and took the very short walk to the St. Regis for cocktails. We cooked in every night and the kitchen had everything we needed. We all slept well in the comfortable beds. There are lots of windows and we loved feeling the island breeze. We can't wait to return some day!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for this glowing review, BB! I agree that the beds are wonderful. (We got those memory-foam toppers for all of the beds at Costco, and everyone seems to find them to be especially comfortable - and cool!) I'm so glad that you and your family enjoyed your vacation. We hope you come back soon - and often! Lynda

Views to die for!

  • 4 of 5

What an enjoyable time we had in Princeville. We spent 4 nights over the Memorial Day weekend....something we were unaware of when we booked as we are Australians!

We enjoyed watching the ever changing views from the lanai and had lots of fun anticipating where the golf balls were going to land on the green below us!!

The accommodation was a little dated in style but was comfortable and clean. We ate at Hideaway Pub on 2 occasions , St Regis hotel and at the Hanelei Bay resort which were all very convenient for our short stay. We found the books on sea and bird life useful and the Kauai guide informative.

We found the steps to St Regis Beach but where was the elevator for our return?... We were told by hotel staff that there was none. Also visited the lighthouse and bird sanctuary...great coastal vistas.

I found communication with the owner to be prompt and helpful at all times.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review, Christine! I'm so glad you enjoyed your time at our home-away-from-home. It is fun to watch the golfers playing on the signature hole of the Makai Golf Club down there below our lanai. I should have been clearer about the hotel amenities - they are for guests of the hotel. I will often stop and have a drink or a bite to eat out by the pool or at one of the restaurants when I'm using the elevator, which makes me a hotel guest for at least that amount of time. This is a also good time for me to mention that the public (meaning people staying elsewhere than at the St. Regis Hotel) are not entitled to use the hotel pool either, although arrangements can be made with the hotel for what they call "day use". I don't know exactly what the fee is for a day poolside might be but a telephone call to the concierge would establish that. Spa amenities (massage, etc.) are also available to non-hotel guests for a fee. The Hanalei Bay Villas were built more than twenty years ago, so they are not new. Our on-island management company and the owner (Eric) so try to keep everything clean, fresh, attractive and comfortable. Eric is in Australia with his family right now, and they are loving it! Lynda

Wow! Great place great location!

  • 5 of 5

The villa was perfect for our family! Kids got their own rooms and decor was great, the kitchen was well equipped so we could cook when we wanted. Villa had beach towels, chairs and snorkeling equipment as promised. We walked to 2 beaches and right next door to the St Regis for dinner or drinks. The view was amazing from the lanai it changed everyday including a rainbow one morning! Would recommend this to anyone looking for a local experience with all the comforts of home.

Home Away from Home

Highlights:

A dream come true. Waking up in paradise.

Comfort: Being able to store goodies in the fridge, cook full meals or simple snacks means a full kitchen with all the supplies needed (including the essential dishwasher!). A comfy living room with space to stretch. A relaxing lanai (actually TWO, one off the master bedroom too!) where the breathtaking vista of mountains and sea stretch for miles. Morning coffee or afternoon drinks are extra-special while basking in the tropical air. There's also a kitchen nook, where meals can be savored. Two full bathrooms and an upstairs half-bath is so appreciated, for comfort and expediency! There's even a washer and dryer available. It seems like every need has been anticipated! Fans in all rooms pick up cross-breezes and add a breath of coolness just when it's needed.

A special note from a woman who lives for A/C. I was apprehensive at the idea of forgoing my beloved air-conditioning. But the fans, cross-breezes and whatever incredible cushy and cool foam is on the mattresses meant a good night's sleep every time. I admit to being pleasantly surprised. Actually so impressed, I even sent a note to the owner asking about the foam topper (spongy and comfy, and always felt cool), to which they replied with the exact product! How wonderful is that?

Location. Steps away from two gorgeous beaches, or delicious tropical drinks or dinner at the St. Regis next door. A short walk to another yummy restaurant, a quick drive to the local store for supplies. Sitting on the lanai sipping wine, listening to the tropical birds... inhaling the delicious fragrance of tropical flowers, it was pure heaven. On my arriving flight, my seat companion (and everyone since) has said, Princeville is the most beautiful locale on the island, and I so agree!

Privacy. No shared walls with neighbors. No worries about being too loud (as my companions and I played music and laughed the night away). Felt cozy and private. A perfect getaway.

Definitely enough room for a family with the Master Bedroom, Queen bed in another room, and twin beds in the 3rd room. Although I'm thinking it'd be pretty perfect for a couple too. Or a holiday with friends like I enjoyed.

I can't recommend this place highly enough. We all deserve a vacation, both comfy and affordable. This is The Place. Whether you want to swim in the beaches, relax with drinks, or simply bask in the beauty of the island. Hope to return someday, maybe with my hubby!
