About the property

3 bedroom, 2.5 bath vacation house, ocean & waterfall views, walk to beach, WiFi

This lovely Hanalei Bay vacation rental home, is a classic Hawaiian style pole house - suspended on poles giving the house fabulous circulation of the cooling ocean breezes. The location and the views are unbeatable for a relaxing beach vacation. From nearly every room in the house you can see Kawaikini and the stunning Makana ridge (also known as Bali Hai), these mountians which are often flowing with beautiful waterfalls and a view over the third green of the Makai golf course.

This three bedroom villa is located walking distance to nearly everything you want to do in Hawaii from surfing, snorkeling, golf, lovely walks and paddleboarding to the 5 star amenities of the St Regis Hotel (formerly the Princeville Hotel) which is less than 100 meters from the Villa. The hotel has great restaurants, a spa and an elevator or steps that takes you right down to the beach where Hanalei Bay meets the Pacific Ocean. The fun and funky town of Hanalei is about a 5 minute drive from the villa or wade from the Princeville beach.

The Prince golf course is also less than 10 minute drive from the villa. The Prince is ranked as Golf Digest’s #1 Golf Course in Hawai’i and one of America’s Top 100 Greatest Courses.

Hike the Kalalau trail, snorkel Ke'e or Tunnels, you are only a short drive away! Hideaways, the best snorkeling on the island in my opinion , is right across the road from the house, a 5 minute walk. Sunsets are unsurpassed from the ocean bluff just up the road, which looks directly out at Bali Hai, a 3 minute walk

This lovely Villa has an open plan living room, dining area and kitchen with fabulous high vaulted ceilings and sliding glass doors leading out to a lanai which will be the perfect place for you to enjoy everything from your morning coffee to cocktails watching the sunset. The living and dining room are very comfortable and there is a flat screen TV, there is also a DVD player, and stereo with radio and MP3 connections. . The kitchen has granite counter tops and is extremely well equipped, much more like a home than a vacation rental and all the dishes and glassware have an island touch. Perfect for preparing great meals for friends and family. The whole of this upstairs area has dramatic views of Makana ridge, Hanalei Bay and the golf course. There is a half bath on this floor. You can enjoy both sunrise and sunsets from the home's two private lanais!

There are three bedrooms downstairs all with high quality linens. The master bedroom has a California king bed, TV, master bathroom and a private Lanai, with more of the same beautiful views of the bay, the Makai golf course and mountains. The second bedroom has a queen bed and more beautiful views of the mountains, golf course and bay. The third bedroom has 2 twin beds and just like the other bedrooms, beautiful views of the mountains and golf course. Bedroom 2 & 3 share a bathroom.

Island motif is felt throughout the home along with great circulation from all sides of the villa, to help catch the island breezes on those warm days and nights. We also include are boogie boards, snorkel gear, beach towels, beach chairs and other necessities to make your Hawaiian vacation perfect.

About Lynda English-Bervid

Homeowner is a highly regarded general contractor in Lake Tahoe

Lynda English-Bervid purchased this house in 2007

Why Lynda English-Bervid chose Kauai

Homeowner wanted a well built free standing home. He loved the 'pole house' which allowed great ventilation and a tree house feel and was captivated by the amazing panoramic views of both Hanalei Bay and the stunning waterfalls in the ridge lines of Makana Ridge. He also wanted to be able to walk to beaches, bars and restaurants. Having the ability to walk from the house to go surfing, swimming and paddleboarding was a huge attraction.

What makes this house unique

Being owned by a builder who often stays in the property, this property is well maintained and continually being updated.

Well-stocked, comfortable home.

The house was clean and well- equipped. The master was spacious and comfortable. The king bed was equipped with super soft sheets. The master bath was modern and super clean. The kitchen had a great blender for smoothies. All appliances well-maintained and in good working order. There was soap and other basic items like dish washer detergent which was nice because we didn't have to go shopping right away. The snorkel gear was adequate but one of the masks leaked a bit. You may want to rent your own. We rented flippers because the flippers there were sized for kids. No air conditioning which was hard to get used to at first but there are fans in every room which helped. No trouble sleeping. Foodland is in the Princeville Shopping Center just down the street. The only difficulty we experienced was trying to find the villa on our arrival. It was dark and rainy and the numbers of the villas are not illuminated and were hard to locate. A mini flashlight helped but we still fumbled around awhile before a kind passer by took pity on us and told us our villa was the second from the last group of villas before the St. Regis. Other than that the location is optimal to restaurants and activities. The views were divine. Only a short walk to two spectacular beaches ( although Hideaways beach was an adventure hiking down to). The management company was wonderful to deal with. We were permitted to stay past the check out time which was great because we had a 10pm flight. Highly recommend.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review. And we're so glad you enjoyed your stay! I appreciate your pointing out that the island gets very dark at night, and that visitors need to make sure they know ahead of time exactly where they're going, and that they will need a flashlight if they are arriving after dark. I'll make sure that I make a special point of this when communicating with future guests, so thank you again for that heads-up. We look forward to seeing you again! Lynda

Comfort and Beauty at its Finest!

  • 5 of 5

What a very special and memorable stay here! The owner was so helpful! The beds are extremely comfortable. The views and sounds of the birds are spectacular. The place is extremely clean and has beach toys if you want them. Watching and hearing the rain fall was something I will remember forever. Having access to the St. Regis Hotel 50 steps from your door is perfect. They helped us book a wonderful Luau. The condo is spacious, clean, quiet and serene. I was hesitate about spending the money but it was well worth it!!!! A destination to remember forever!

Owner's Response: Dear Anonymous ~ Thank you for taking the time to write this review. The things you mentioned are the very things that we love so much about the house. We love to point out to our guests that the St Regis is much more expensive, and that you don't have as much room. Or your own kitchen. (I'm smiling here.) Seriously, I'm so happy glad that you had such a lovely experience. Come back soon! Lynda

Beautiful vacation

  • 4 of 5

We absolutely loved the rental! The lanais were amazing. The location was perfect. Plenty of space for everyone. My only complaint was the early call of the nearby, menacing roosters. We had a difficult time sleeping in past 6 AM. Although, clearly no fault of the homeowners, my husband did not sleep well despite earplugs & a sound machine. That being said, we loved the property & had a great time!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review for us, Ash. Yes, the Kauai roosters are something else indeed. They are wild, beautiful - and everywhere. My understanding is that they're the result of previous hurricanes, which released them from their cages into the jungles where they have more than prospered. I think their only natural enemies on the island are - well - sleepy humans! (The good news is that their morning crowing is sometimes drowned out by the "dawn chorus" of the multitudes of the other island birds.)

Fabulous in every way!

  • 5 of 5

We recently returned home after an amazing stay at the Hanalei Bay Villas. The unit was immaculate and well maintained, the kitchen was well equipped, and the view was fabulous. We enjoyed walking to Hideaways Beach, Queen's Bath, and to a nice snorkeling beach down below the Regis Hotel, where we also had a delightful lunch at their beachside restaurant. The location of the unit was just a short drive to the town of Hanalei Bay, where we enjoyed some delicious meals, to Tunnel's Beach, where we did some great snorkeling, to Kilauea Lighthouse where we viewed magnificent birds, and to lovely shops in Princeville marketplace. All in all we had a wonderful week, and will look forward to returning to such a perfect spot as soon as we can.

The detailed information we received from the owner and from VRBO prior to our trip was all very helpful, and the customer service was as good as it gets.

We had a great time and the view from your home is spectacular!

This is our second time staying at this property and it is a great place to stay to see the north shore.

Everyday waking up to the amazing views of the Hanalei Valley, bay and mountain range.

My phones and tablets are filled with unbelievable pics and scenery.

Night breezes and unbelievable sunsets happen every day and you can walk to the St.Regis, Secret Beach and runs along the Makai golf course with the views beside it.

We hope to return again soon.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! This villa is light and bright, clean and comfortable! The views all around are amazing. You see Hanalai Bay, the beautiful mountains, waterfalls, and rainbows. In summer, the sun sets over the ocean right across the street. We walked across the street to Hideaways Beach and took the very short walk to the St. Regis for cocktails. We cooked in every night and the kitchen had everything we needed. We all slept well in the comfortable beds. There are lots of windows and we loved feeling the island breeze. We can't wait to return some day!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for this glowing review, BB! I agree that the beds are wonderful. (We got those memory-foam toppers for all of the beds at Costco, and everyone seems to find them to be especially comfortable - and cool!) I'm so glad that you and your family enjoyed your vacation. We hope you come back soon - and often! Lynda
