Lovely home with welcoming owners! Home is so comfy and well appointed. Had fresh cake upon our arrival--kids were in heaven!
My wife and I stayed in Villa Iris for two weeks at the end of June. As bed and breakfast accommodation the villa is exceptional, and this is what visitors generally use it for. Comfortable spacious bedrooms - spotlessly clean and each with excellent air conditioning. Great facilities downstairs, friendly and helpful hosts (many thanks Despina), huge lounge, homemade cakes (many thanks Despina/Georgia's mum), ground coffee and breakfast materials provided, secure parking, quality and modern furnishings throughout. Any glitches sorted out super quick (many thanks Despina/Georgia's dad). There are three good tavernas within 50yds (we liked the topmost one best) and yet the property is quiet. Excellent wifi, even works in the garden. The villa worked really well for our 2 week stay (though a washing machine would have been a useful addition) and was a great base for exploring the many delights of the Peloponnese. We loved the villa, the people and our hosts. Thoroughly recommended.
We liked the location for the convenience of having three restaurants close by. We enjoyed meals in two of the restaurants. The portions served were very generous, enough to feed two. The staff were friendly. There was gated parking in front of the villa. Our host mentioned that local people don't lock their doors. We felt very secure and safe.
We visited ancient Sparta and Mystras. Both come highly recommended.
K. Zidkova
This is a very beautiful and spacious house, situated next to 3 tavernas with very good food, in a very small pretty village. The village is close to both Sparti and Mystras
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Iris. The villa is beautifully decorated with all the amenities one would need. Extremely comfortable and exceptionally well maintained. Our hosts Georgia and Despina were reliable, helpful and attentive. If your plan is to visit Mystras and Sparta this is the place to stay. The villa is located just a short distance from a village where you can buy groceries. Three great tavernas are within walking distance of the villa. But don't let this trouble you. The villa is exceptionally quiet. Orange and olive groves surround you. We loved it!
Laconia is a place suitable both for those who seek adventure in natural settings and those interested in history.
Taygetos, the highest mountain of Peloponnese, is a big draw for the friends of mount hiking, as they will discover picturesque paths, some of which start from locations near the guest house.
Mystras, a monument of great historical and archaeological interest, is the best preserved byzantine castle town in Greece. The remnants will offer the visitor a time travel into the past, with all the monuments, palaces and churches that testify to the past grandeur. The Byzantine and Archaeological Museum of Mystras is also worth visiting.
Don’t forget to pay a visit to the Archaeological Museum of Sparta, the remnants of the ancient city of Sparta, as well as the Olive and Greek Oil Museum, which was awarded by the Greek Institute of Architecture as one of the finest buildings of the past five years in Greece.
Sparti is a very lively town at night, especially during the summer months. Skip an early night's sleep in order to join the locals in the various cafes and bars of the town.
Taygetos is great for hiking. Ask us for directions for the closest to the villa trail. It's easy to access and you will enjoy the scenic route and the wonderful view.
