WOW! What a beautiful and well located villa.

We all very much enjoyed our visit to Podere lo Spadino. The house was very well equipped with full kitchen and all the needed accessories. We had breakfast each day and then ventured out into the country to visit such places as San Gimignano, Florence, Siena, Pisa, Lucca, and Volterra. Our Host, Barbara, was very helpful in suggesting restaurants, wineries, and places to see. She and her family were very friendly and we had no trouble in communication. She is also a wonderful cook. I suggest you have her cook dinner one night. This is the perfect place for four couples since there are four bedrooms with their own baths. I highly recommend Podere lo Spadino,. You won't be disappointed. Gracie Barbara. God has truly blessed you.

A most relaxing, realistic and welcoming stay in Tuscany

  • 5 of 5

Didn't want to share this one with anyone, as it will be hard to rebook....

We had 2 great weeks with Barbara and family in their fabulous, spacious villa 5 mins drive from San Gimi. Truly great pool, free melons and honeycomb honey from the property, with lovely home-cured ham and home-pressed oil to buy.

Yes, the villa got hot (it was August in Tuscany people!) but once we figured out how to optimise windows for the cool breezes, it was lovely. Besides, just meant we spend more time by the pool working on those tanlines.

Waking up to picture-perfect views of those towers 6 kms away, watching wild deer have their breakfast while we had ours and then deciding what to for the day. Siena or Florence? Certaldo or Volterra? Or Chianti?

Talking to Barbara and family at sunset, being given fresh eggs (gratis) by Nonna for breakfast the next day. Life does not any get better.

Was there a downside? Sure - the toaster was a bit slow, and the charcoal bbq needed a practised hand. That was about the limit of it - not exactly deal breakers :)

We will definitely be back. Mille grazie Barbara, ciao!!

Incredible experience!

  • 5 of 5

Five of us shared this villa and it was a heavenly week. Beautifully hand built property by Barbara's dad was both casual and comfortable. Beautiful views from every window! Very clean and nicely appointed rooms, bathrooms, etc. The pool was delightful after a great day of sightseeing. A great way to cool off over cocktails. And the road to the villa is a great walk in either direction for a nice workout.

The location and proximity to San Gimignano and neighboring towns was great! Luann hosts a great wine tasting less than a mile from the villa. Easy 15-45 minute day trips to Voltare, the Chianti region, etc.

Barbara our hostess was delightful. And so helpful. Great pre-trip communication starting six months out. A welcoming face upon arrival. Friendly personality always available to assist with questions, requests to purchase eggs, honey, wine etc.

This is my fifth time renting a villa in Tuscany and this property and experience was outstanding. Thank you Barbara and your parents too.

Magical Location

  • 5 of 5

Eight good friends spent a wonderful week at this beautiful villa. The location was amazing, the views breath taking and the hospitality was exceptional.

We all enjoyed the delicious meals that Barbara cooked and enjoyed learning how many of the ingredients came from the family farm and vineyard.

I am sure we will return one day and will definitely recommend Podere Lo Spadino to our family and friends.

Many thanks again

Perfect location, beautiful villa, lovely hosts!

  • 5 of 5

What a truly lovely property, and lovely family! We took our mom's with us to Italy this year and wanted to make things really special for them -- Podere Lo Spadino delivered!! Perfect location, beautiful grounds, and a villa full of that unique Tuscan charm. (Everyone that has seen our vacation pictures have said the villa reminds them of the movie "Under the Tuscan Sun" -- no kidding!)

Barbara and her family were the perfect hosts, always available to answer questions or for a friendly chat in the garden. On our arrival they presented us with a bottle of wine of their own vintage...and it just set the tone for what was to be a fabulous week.

We would absolutely recommend this villa to anyone looking to stay in Tuscany, and hope to go back next year.

Even though it was early spring, there were flowers in bloom and big bright yellow lemons on the trees. My Mom became fascinated with the resident turkey, which she decided to call "Francesco" for the duration of our stay; and we have many photos of him mixed amongst our vacation pictures.

We have been here 7 times and the Montagnanis feel like family to us. They make you feel comfortable right away, are very hospitable and willing to give tips or help in any way. Very childfriendly.

They are around - working - and leave their guest in peace, but are open for questions or give a helping hand. Barbara - the daughter - speaks English.

Great surroundings: lovely countryhouse built by the owner, surrounded by olive trees and vineyards, a private swimmingpool overlooking San Gimignano,... Eating in the garden near bbq is possible. Parking space available.

House is well maintained and clean, all bedrooms have an ensuite bathroom.

The family grows it's own vegetables and fruits, and are very willing to share with their guests. They make their own wines, olive oil, keep bees for honey,...

If wanted you can ask the family to cook for you. The nicest meal you can imagine, all prepared with their own grown foods and herbs. Or, if you would like to learn how to prepare a proper Italian meal yourself: you can book a cooking class.

The house is located idealy for visits to Siena, Firenze, Volterra, Lucca, Arezzo and so on, or even a trip to the sea (only abt 1h30 drive!).

We recommeded the house many times to other people and are planning to go back.

Not to hesitate, the house and their owners are a gem!
