About Christy and Chris Frey. Fly Me to the Dune
Chris and Christy are native Texans and Fly Me to the Dune’s owners. Chris grew up in Brazoria County and has been going to Surfside since he was a child. We live nearby in Lake Jackson, and we enjoy getting out to the beach whenever possible.
Christy and Chris Frey. Fly Me to the Dune purchased this House in 2018
Why Christy and Chris Frey. Fly Me to the Dune chose Surfside Beach
“Dunes” as we affectionately call her is going to be our retirement home. We love the retro architecture with wood, stone, and a beautiful wall of windows.
What makes this House unique
Surfside can truly be described as a "village". You get that small town feel the minute you cross the Intracoastal. You get all the outdoor activities you expect from a beach town - beachcombing, surfing, sandcastle building, kayaking, jet skis, and fishing. Surfside also has some great local restaurants nearby. Finally, if you want to get out for a day trip, Galveston is only 45 minutes away.

The best house on the beach
We had our family get together and Fly Me To The Dune was the perfect choice. The house has everything you would need, comfortable beds. all amenities for the best price. Christy and Chris are great hosts and respond promptly to questions. There is nothing negative to say. We had a great time. I leave one tip; plan on rock/paper/scissors to get the fabulous master suite 😉
The property was exactly as described. Booking, check-in and check-out was a breeze! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Highly recommended.
Great House, Great Location, Bring Bug Spray
Positives: This was the perfect house for all our large family with great communication with the owners. Everything, and more, included too. The refrigerator was large enough to hold all our food for our 5 day (we cooked all our meals). There were plenty of pillows and beddings in all the bedrooms plus a cot & 2 pack-n-plays (we brought our own). The upstairs bedroom, bath, & private deck were perfect for getting away. The only thing missing would have been blackout curtains (they had darkening ones but that morning sun shined through them). For those wanting more fans, there were 2 extras; however, the a/c worked great! For the beach, plenty of beach toys and chairs with a short walk to the beach. The decks included 3 large picnic tables, 2 sets of great, comfy chairs (none of those Adirondack chairs that hurt your back or hard to get in and out of), a 2 seater bench, 2 tall deck chairs, and a huge grill (we never got to use-see below). The kitchen offered everything needed plus tons more. The only things missing were forks (only had 8) and a crockpot. A large pantry was included too. It was extra nice to have paper products and trash bags included (bring tissues). Per the bathrooms, plenty of towels and hot water. It was nice to have a washer/dryer (watch hot/cold selection - they are reversed). The house had tons of games (we brought our own Bingo to play each night for prizes). TVs are in all the bedrooms - the upstairs xfinity box didn't work but not a problem. We did bring our Wii for the kids and hooked it up in the bunkroom.
Negatives: NOT THE OWNERS FAULT but the mosquitos held us prisoners. The top 2 decks were fine but as soon as you reach ground level, look out. Our planned family photo shoot took less than 10 mins with more bites to add. Walking to the beach found you covered in black mosquitos. Even morning walks on the beach before 10am were bad. Our cars were even filled inside. So we did no grilling, no picnic eating, limited family photos, and no morning walks along the beach. I am assuming it was the time of year. We did try and pretend the weather was awful (it wasn't) since we stayed inside for most of the 5 days although we did leave covered with bites - even the ones that normally never get bit. We had a outdoor fogger and 2 different mosquito sprays but nothing worked.
Also, owners did warn us the iron content in the water and it did affect the taste of any food using it, especially pasta (bring already boiled).
Thanks for all the feedback. Regarding the mosquitoes, they haven't been bad all summer, but then we got over 20 inches of rain from the tropical storm the week prior to your arrival. The county does a good job of spraying, as do we, but it takes time to recover from an event like that. We hope you can return another time to fully appreciate the outdoors experience.
Look no further, THIS is the place to stay !
This house was amazing ! From the minute we walked into the house, we felt like we were home . It is obvious that the owners have put a lot of love and care into making this a place where families can come together and make memories. It is such a beautiful home and does not lack for anything.
We will be back for sure !!
Perfect views, accommodating owners
Our stay at Surfside was one of the best we’ve had. The owners were extremely accommodating with our party. The beach house had more sleeping room than we expected and everything was clean. The location was perfect with unobscured views. We look forward to our next trip!
Awesome house. Chris and Christy have an amazing house. Little homey touches everywhere. Very clean and exactly as listed. Peaceful and beautiful
